  1. it could be that either the vas makes them too hot, which prob isn't it b/c they are cooled through the PCB. or the Vaseline is some how causing a short because of its properties.
  2. but can the PCi-E bus itself not the CPU, i am talking about the GPU go below? Maybe, idk. I have one GPu i used to do that 117mh BCLK, so i guess you can go the other direction, but i always felt it could go up more than down.
  3. i know the guy a little bit, he is either showing a vulnerability or something legit.
  4. Maybe try a silicon grease next time, and just wipe off the top of the DrMOS before mounting the heatsinks. If you run on air after that just wipe it from the DrMOS area. If you have any eraser use it to absorb the grease(its ultra absorbent).
  5. i know maybe to make them all mad massman you can just bug the site 5 minutes or 10 minutes before submissions and then bring it back 1 minute before dead line and say "sandbag check"
  6. i hope we can overclock people by then: in fact that will be my new research proposal.
  7. why does it look like fraud? john Lam made this video i think and i don't think he'd make a fraud, but as you see just for a split second it works.
  8. it was optional for Z77, so manufacturers could do it or not, but it was introduced too close to launch. I do think asus optimized it more of course, however it has its own downfalls as it isn't perfect and a reason haswell is also a bit different. Daisy chain has advantages for only single DIMM per channel operation in that a single slot with it should run better than a typical T configuration because the T works better with 4 DIMMs because of the way the traces are drawn and the route the signal needs to take. You shot something down a daisy chain and its a straight shot(for the mot part), however doing the T is a bit tricky, you hope the signal doesn't get interrupted because of that intersection. However in 4 DIMM operation you can the possibility of reinforcing the signal when both DIMMs are filled(on reason for instance the gigabyte Z77 boards usually had better 4 DIMM samsung OC than 2 DIMM samsung OC). Also optimizing a BIOS for some boards that have it and some that doesn't is pretty hard as well(I think all of asus's had it). I mean if you take a UD5H right now and flash it with one of the latest BIOSes you will see it OCes memory very well, just there are no profiles or anything to help you out, but if you copy the timings from another brand, you might be surprised, it will OC better than it did half a year ago. There was no doubt asus did an awesome job with it, but i don't like how they got everyone to think they designed basic routing design, i mean do they think no one ever int he world has thought about routing a trace like that? They just invented it? let's see a patent(b/c this is the type of thing you patent). anyways end of my rant.
  9. i think everyone just assumes asus invent t-topology, while its actually intel spec and even on Z77 gigabyte had it since launch, asrock used it on the oc formula as well.
  10. i saw a figure for the same price as the 3770K when converted to USD from NTD, id think launch wouldn't be much more than current Ivy. Either way microcenter FTW lol
  11. $400, that is a lot, but i guess it is before launch.
  12. you know what would be nice? like randomly the BIOS screen should just show one of those freaky images that pops up and scares the crap out of you when you watch a movie or do something, it used to be more popular. You can name the feature "awake mode" to wake users up when they doze off in the UEFI lol.
  13. yea it makes sounds haha, i was just trying to be funny but no one thinks i am funny
  14. I think the Mpower uses 16(or maybe 20?) phases in LF-PAK and the XPower is the 32 phases with IR3550. Also prob the Xpower supports 4-way while the Mpower doesn't?
  15. yea its hard for me to see as well but I don't know what to look for in a fake score really. I guess that is a good thing since I could prob never fake a score. lol You guys really have sharp eyes.
  16. who said I was benching on that board? Just testing. I don't realyl bench much, just like to go for high CPUz maxes like CPU frequency, BCLK(Which you prob know about), and memory. I don't think i ever did anything with LN2 on that board so that I could sell it when i was done. Not mad just trying to be funny, i am excited for Z87 I mean you must agree that sound in the UEFI is annoying, you must have also heard it because you brought up sound.
  17. sound? You mean like that tacky noise the OCF's UEFi puts out that makes you mute your speakers b/c you feel like you are in a 2bit knock off sci-fi movie that doesn't even make it to the scifi channel at 4am? Yea sure, if space is there to be wasted...
  18. I saw if you are to leak it, then at least cover the name if its a real name of someone you know! Just out of respect. BTW there are going to be rules on what version of CPUz is required for validations for haswell, correct? Or will CPuZ take care of that themselves?
  19. when i first saw the name hero, no joke i thought about the Japanese guy named Hero in Heros. Supposedly the hero is made for gamers who don't want to spend much on motherboards. Sounds like a good plan.
