Holy thread revival! IMO P-ATA HDDs dont make enough difference to warrant any kind of "boo-hoo" and O.S. doesnt really fall into the category of who has the most money to fling at the hobby. Software can appear on the net, cascades dont (unless im looking on the wrong torrent sites....)

http://www.hwbot.org/quickSearch.do?hardwareId=GPU_221 I was trawling HWB for ideas and saw that category. Is it possible to have multi-card setups on PCI? I was sure SLI was purely for PCI-E, or is there more than one allowed definition of multiple cards in a category? Orrrr....should it be PCI-E and its just a typo? K

For some reason I dont have the option of deleting these two results from my collection: http://www.hwbot.org/compare.do?resultId=634322 http://www.hwbot.org/compare.do?resultId=605603 Iv improved on these scores, so dont need the old ones. If a mod could delete them, id appreciate it. Cheers! K

Well- I called you out in public so its only fair I apologise in the same way- I more or less accused you of cheating with the 7800GTX. I put the time into understanding how to get the best from the card and now I know you werent. Sorry for the accusation Kenny

Nope For me personally- I dont see the point of CPU-Z benching because I dont see the point of "having" MHz that cant do anything, so a GPU-Z picture of MHz wouldnt interest me at all, only a bench or a test ran at xxx MHz. Also- seeing as its purely a function of MHz, it loses a bit more of the point because it doesnt recognise the differences between cards or clock efficiency. Just my opinion though.
-
What about having 3DM01 nature or AM3 as a minimum requirement for a GPU clock speed "verification" SPi1M and CPU-Z are pointless for any indication of stability, but are so popular for people breaking GHz barriers etc Im working on some GPU stuff at the mo and hope to get either of those benches to complete to show off some MHz. Dont see why it should be less of an achivement than using SPi 1M to show "OMG I broke 5.7GHz on an E84" or whatever

blocking old results that don't comply to new rules
K404 replied to cdawall's topic in Submission & member moderation
This isnt meant personally, but im sure you can understand that there is no way of proving your clockspeeds from that picture. You could have run at any speed and got a score. In theory, you could have been cheating. IMHO, all results without proof of clockspeed should either be deleted, or ineligible for points. I know the rules change, but to just have a score seems pointless, without any extra details. -
Nothing personal, purely business Hopefully not a sprint, but a marathon- good luck and good benching to all

Flame me all you like, this needs to be said. a legal score- a mip cheat score- someone elses score- http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/9218/2003zs2.jpg the recorded clockspeeds are 4130MHz 598/740. Either the clockspeeds are BS or the score is BS. No-one else in the category can match the performance per clock. Moving onto 3D05- a mip cheat score- Someone elses score- http://img506.imageshack.us/my.php?image=2005eq6.jpg reported clockspeeds are 3850MHz 586/685
-
Thats why i reported them. I didnt delete them, if thats what you mean?
-
I didnt know it was you. I didnt know a user could find out who reported their scores. I only found out because I was cleaning out old results with no points..
-
Awwww...isnt that sweet. I report yours, so you report mine. You can keep reporting those scores- every time I change an FM link to fix a reported result, another result goes without. That wont be fixed because im not going to generate a new FM account every time I submit scores for a new bit of kit You can resort to accusing me of not knowing anything, but im going to be mature and not retort back. OS is unlikely to make that big-a difference to scores. What drivers did you use? Il try them, compared to the 84.21 iv found to work best for me so far. Report as many of my scores as you want. All are 100% legit, and nothing you can do or say can change that.
-
I am and have compared to other results- that why iv reported those two scores. 3DMark03- you have 330MHz more on the CPU, the same GPU core clock and 25MHz more on the GDDR, yet somehow your score is 1600 points higher than mine. Your score is also 600 points higher than Blindfitters- who has a QX9650 clocked 600MHz higher than your E66, a similar core clock and 40MHz less on the GDDR. You think your score looks normal? 3DM05- your score is 600 points higher than mine, despite having lower graphics clocks. I KNOW how to bench, I even went through maybe 6 driver sets looking for differences. Your scores make no sense.

http://www.hwbot.org/compare.do?resultId=649274 (3DM03) http://www.hwbot.org/compare.do?resultId=554578 (3DM05) Both way too high for the clocks. Category- 7800GTX
-
I just had a quick look through some of velds results...plenty 3DMark results without GPU-Z windows hahahahaha veld- im not trying to pick a fight with you, but your idea can only backfire. "people in glass houses shouldnt throw stones"
-
Thanks jmke, sorry the the outburst *oops* common sense prevails!
-
What? You cant call those out just because they dont have GPU-Z?! What about the thousands of results submitted before GPU-Z was released? Are all those results now less valid? Are they invalid? Id like to nominate 90% of my 3DMark results for checking because they dont have GPU-Z windows present. Id like to apologise for submitting bench results before GPU-Z was released :@ Are the scores you've reported in categories in which you are competing?

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=181766 Heres one of their threads from XS- they admit to using Mip. and some nice hardware sharing to boot...nice! (NOT)

http://www.hwbot.org/compare.do?resultId=716604 category- 6800XT, NV41. Never gonna pull that score with an Opto 185 @ 3GHz and low GPU clocks!

excuse the emo-ness of posting song lyrics on a forum, but read through these.. it sums up benching like you wouldnt believe! The Cure- Never Enough. However much I push it down It's never enough However much I push it around It's never enough However much I make it out It's never enough Never enough However much I do However big I ever feel It's never enough Whatever I do to make it real It's never enough In any way I try to speak It's never enough Never enough However much I try to speak It's never enough However much I'm falling down It's never enough However much I'm falling out It's never enough Whatever smile I smile the most It's never enough Never enough However I smile I smile the most So let me hold it up Just one more go Holding it up for just once more One more time to fill it up One more time to kill But whatever I do It's never enough It's never enough It's never enough

I know where you're coming from and I agree- cant have me cake and eat it, but if existing scores/clockspeeds in a category are "civilised" I wont go and "ruin" it- I approach it as a gentlemans agreement. Id never break out the dice for...say... my 6800XT runs etc theres no satisfaction in beating a Ford Escort with a Dodge Viper in a one mile straight.

well...this section is for my irrelevant opinion I hate seeing low-mid end GPUs benched alongside £600 CPUs with £700+ cascade cooling. Its crap, its never gonna happen in real-life and it aint what good benching is all about.* Theres a lot of things in the scene that really annoy me and wind me up a LOT and I hate the fact that very few ppl agree with me because "its all for points and personal (or team) glory" Y'know I had to reason with someone to NOT cheat the other day? WTF is that alla bout? Is benching that shallow now? POINTS AT ALL COSTS? *it also happens the other way- using I-RAM and top-end GPUs for PCMark to make old CPUs shine so much brighter than they are. We could sort out the BS around 3D LOD and mipmaps by having someone release a DOS box MFLOP test for GPU setups. If no-one cares about the image quality, or if theres an image at all (!!!!) then 3DMark becomes utterly pointless (even more so than it already is) [/rant] I feel no better, but I hate where benching is going.

LOL Im trying to get so much info into screenies that I dont pay attention to res. Chances are, its often covered by a score breakdown window My conscience is crystal clear though. Il pass it onto the guys at BTUK that res is needed in screenies
-
Its part arrogance but if guys are pulling 1-200 FPS better than me in nature at the same clocks, lower or only slightly higher, I call mipmap. Iv only called out scores using GTS512MB cards because I can relate to it best. I got 860FPS in nature at 1024/2560/1095 and based everything around that. I know my FPS should have been higher, but I really dont think 950FPS+ is an option without being around 1075MHz core, if not more? CPU does nothing to the score and I find that 100MHz on the core adds ~60FPS to the score.
