  1. I hope everyone who goes takes a crapload of pics
  2. I hate the money aspect of this as much as everyone else does but world records and the best scores need the best gear and the companies know we'll pay for that C'est la vie. Approach the hobby at the angle that gives you the most fun
  3. Hey Vivi I tried that approach with the 6600GT...didnt work coz of the GPU bottleneck I agree with the approach though.
  4. The allocation to global points was limited because it was considered skewed that benchers could become ranked very highly without any "relevant" global results. To be ranked well, have to be doing well in terms of global scores as well.
  5. I thought the problem with PCM05 and SSD is that its now harder to tell if someone is using a software RAMdisk or not, because of the similarities in scores? More current hardware isnt the problem, although the score skew (IMHO) is....
  6. I did wonder if high-end SSD and software RAMdisk would begin to look too similar for anyone to tell.... If we cant find a solution and things get bad....could always pull the points from PCM05. Technically no-one should mind- we do all this for good benching anyway, right? The questionable scores could be removed without so much complaining if an HWB mod got it wrong for any reason LOL....any "system" bench where an E2140 or E2160 can sit very easily in the top 200 is just broken. Cant blame anyone really- things have changed too much since it was launched.
  7. The screenshot layout has made some other peoples results look suspicious too Sharing or not, theres only so many ways we can lay out all the info required on a screen thats clear to take the info from
  8. thanks for this guys, will credit you in any submissions I upload with this
  9. Does RB tease us like this so he always gets a heros welcome when he comes back from time away?
  10. Is the fix not just commenting out a couple lines of code at the server end? if (test 1>220) return fail else .................... (or along those lines)
  11. Nice Windows startup speed I wish PCM05 wasnt so badly affected by RAMDisks/SSD etc...gives a totally skewed score system
  12. Happy new year everyone
  13. While gomers scores are in the spotlight....hardware and score sharing are frowned upon here
  14. http://www.hwbot.org/compare.do?resultId=748081 report option is grayed out but hes using GPU-based PhysX (can be seen on his FM link...he doesnt have a screeny of the score present)
  15. These two results: http://www.hwbot.org/compare.do?resultId=803939 http://www.hwbot.org/compare.do?resultId=806004 Same desktop background and folders, scores look way too high for the MHz. Will let the mods decide what course of action is best..... These two guys also happen to have similar results in some I7 920 categories... Iv reported a couple other 8800GT 512MB scores...do the mods get the reports ok?
  16. Weird. PLease can you try again? Bench runs are always at their best directly after boot. I remember from mine, the scores scaled fairly slowly but there was no slowdown due to temps and my card loaded over 70oC
  17. Please can I have the cookie? Always room for quality cookies
  18. Rivatuner or Coolbits should work fine Was the first GPU I ever overclocked...memories!!
  19. To counter another angle of this. If hardware sharing was allowed it would no longer be a list of whos the richest or best supported bencher...it would be a list of who has the most friends who are rich and bench Cant escape from the money side of this hobby for global scores. Also...why should someone necessarily be happy for someone else to go off and get recognition and great scores when they're the ones earning the money to pay for it? Sure, friends share but theres a limit. Things can go wrong with that too- the person who gets it on loan might beat the owners score or they might break the gear and no-one saves any money if that happens
  20. You can still post results with other ppls gear on any overclocking forum. Thats where most of the recognition is, HWBot is just the icing on the cake. A lot of companies are still unaware of HWB and the ones that do arent really really really interested. Kingpin would still be famous without HWB
