Yeah, that's the one I was refering to. It's a pretty fun course, actually. 'Till when are you staying? Might be easier to go after Computex I guess.

There's one in Taoyuan about 1 hour out of Taipei. None that I know of in Taipei.

I'm sure you guys all remember the 3D bios Gigabyte had on their Z77 boards. You know, that screen you see for about one and a half seconds before you switch to advanced mode? Well ... that one's gone. GIGABYTE re-designed their bios look from scratch and I must say it looks really awesome. There are a couple of specific features of the BIOS that I personally really like, but I think we'll have to wait for the GBT team to disclose more information on this. Anyway, here's a screenshot. Of course no banners are being pulled. Also no phone calls and no emails from a single vendor. Our partnerships have very little to do with this. After all, there were Asus, Asrock and MSI results in the thread. Oh, and Intel obviously. HWBOT didn't "leak" anything, the source is OCAholic and its source is from the public CPU-Z database entries. I removed yours after a phone call from MSI HQ. This phone call was unrelated to your score being posted on the internet, but I made the suggestion that I could down the picture from this forum thread if they wanted that. I would have done the same if you had sent me a private message, just like I have taken down pictures upon request from Gigabyte and ASUS in the past. The five second phone conversation I had was calm and nothing was said in terms of banners, partnerships or anything else. I just explained the situation and what the options were. Perhaps you should be a bit more respectful towards the staff here. After all, you are the one that accidentally published that validation online. The result was public. A simple private message would have sufficed. Sadly enough, instead of a polite message you're throwing bad words and accusations around. You had a little "oops" and sometimes that happens.

ASRock Z87 Comes With Waterproof Conformal Coating?
Massman replied to Massman's topic in Haswell (Z87/Z97) OC
Ultra Durable has humidity protection with the PCB design, not quite the same as using conformal coating. Gigabyte's solution is to reduce humidity inside the PCB, the coating is on top of the PCB. -
So far, it seems most community members are okay with this thread? FYI// that video is a 100% FAKE!

Not really. Leaks have been happening for ages and it never prevented people (in general) from getting early access and sampling. I think as long as Intel has the obvious performance upper-hand, they don't really care that much about leaks. If a company really wants to prevent leaks, they are able to enforce it. Just look at Nvidia and Apple for example.

Haters gonna hate? Haswell at 8GHz video. Imho, this kind of hints to the idea that the 7GHz validation might be bogus or bugged too. I think CPU-Z V1.62 just wasn't able to correctly read out the frequency and voltages. Especially the 91MHz BCLK seems a bit suspicious.

Why is it hurting the overclocking community?
-
Hey Community, Should I remove this post? I'm torn between being an "Assman" for having the leaks in a thread or being an "Assman" for censorship if I take the thread down. Regards, A torn Pieter.

Interesting! :celebration:

Updated the event calender + attendance list. 32 overclockers - awesome!

Sure! The Gskill booth is traditionally the hangout place for most overclockers during either CeBIT or Computex. If the event hall floormap is the same like last year - I assume it is - that booth is located near a Mr.Brown coffee shop and close to the exit (smokers). I heard Duck from Japan is coming as well, I heard, but not as part of any overclocking show. Awesome! Looking forward to meet up again!

Wow! 22nd global! Good stuff! -
I understand your point of view and argumentation. It makes a lot of sense. From HWBOT's point of view, we just want to give enough incentive for people to actually go and and show overclocking. Awarding points for a certain activity is a very simple way to incentivise people without too much trouble. The idea behind the "Live Performance" stage is actually not real competition, but rather giving a point bonus to teams that spread the word on overclocking outside of their regular environment. In my opinion, the amount of points that could be earned was not excessively high compared to the total amount of competition points. Maybe in the future we should just give everyone the same amount of points, regardless of the benchmark result. The fact that only 10% of the teams joined this stage is not a concern, for my perspective. Even if only one team had joined it, I would still be fine with it. You are right, this stage is not so much about overclocking skill, hardware or ability. But it is definitely for overclocking effort and spirit, which are two aspects of OC that not always get rewarded properly. I do understand your point of view, though.

Not bad. What is the performance hit for running 1GB sticks instead of 2x2GB?
-
That's what I hope too. We have been working on this project since January 2012 and it is really cool to be so close to the actual release. The project is mainly set up to lower the entry barrier for new overclockers, although it should be okay to use for the more advanced users as well. It's a first step, actually, as there are more plans for improvement in future releases. The initial goal is to have not just ODMs (MSI, ASROCK, etc) support it, but also OEMs (Alienware, Lenovo, etc) and of course pre-installed on systems built by SI. Judging by the feedback I get from Intel, I get the feeling they are very serious about overclocking and enthusiasts. Obviously there is an economical reason for this (read: more money), but I don't see any reason to dislike a company that wants to generate more income by increasing the amount of overclockers, haha. I think XTU will be a very good tool for OC workshops as well.
