Hey boys and girls, Came across this neat-looking feature titled 'conduit toolbar' last night and decided to set one up for HWBOT as well. Basically, it's a small toolbar add-on for your Firefox/IE7 browser that gives you quicklinks to the most visited hwbot pages (new submissions, submit score etc) as well as a news ticker with the latest hwbot headlines . Download link: http://hwbot.OurToolbar.com/ Since I'm quite new to the entire toolbar community thing (I like my browser clean and tidy) I'm very much open to suggestions. Just let me know what would be cool to have and we'll add it for you . Oh, by the way, the more users that actively use this toolbar, the more revenue we have. In other words: using the toolbar equals supporting HWBOT .

None of you guys ever check our Facebook? It's where all the teasers are posted
-
To be correct here: Unigine only allowed us to build a wrapper around their benchmark. Unigine did not any work for the submission to HWBOT. Everything to make sure the benchmark is user-friendly, cheat-proof and able to submit directly to HWBOT has been work of the HWBOT staff
-
? Plenty of benchmarks - where? Or do you mean 3DMark06 and Vantage for 'newer' cards?
-
We shouldn't be afraid to move forward if we can, though. There are plenty of old-skool benchmarks out there, but none for DX11.
-
Maybe a DX9 version that doesn't get points and a DX11 that gets points? It's possible. Things are moving forward now. The submission routes have now been installed. You can upload a score: - Online, from the application - Offline, by saving a score and uploading the file using the HWBOT online form (no need to install the app on a different system as well)
-
Knowing the submission URL is one thing ... you can't submit without the validation file
-
The plan is to go for DX11 only. We'll see how things evolve

This is even more surreal ...

Hardware sharing- by people who should know better

Hm. Okay. I think I was talking about the situation where you'd be lending hardware. Anyways, selling is allowed; selling to screw over your fellow overclockers in the hwbot ranking is not allowed. Or: be responsible. The governing body that overseas rule enforcement and applications = HWBOT moderating staff . I'm not totally against the idea of having team moderators involved in the ruling process, but I not confident that this will actually lead to a better overclocking environment. First of all, we have a staff of moderators to ensure that whoever is moderating is not doing it because of personal/team objectives, but to keep HWBOT clean. In theory, having team moderators involved is cool, but it also opens a gate for teams to vote for removal of scores only for their own benefit. Secondly, I'm strongly of the opinion that responsibility comes before rules. This meaning that the rules are there as guidelines, but in the end each individual has to stand up for his own behavior. If we change our policy from 'act responsible' to 'act within the rules', we could end up in situations where lawyers sue HWBOT for removing a result. Thirdly, I would much more like to invest time in setting up a structure for live overclocking events rather than improving online rules and regulations. GIGABYTE and MSI are already at a stage where they organize live overclocking competitions to serve the community, but I would really love to see HQ push the local offices even more to organize smaller live overclocking competitions within the local community and give those comps a place on hwbot. Can you please elaborate on how this governing body would make HWBOT better? And by better I mean: less cheaters, but also not making it extremely complex and slow. We want to remove cheaters, but not by making the validation process 10x longer. -
When the app is in a better shape. Currently the validation doesn't go through the HWBOT servers, but through a personal site. The different beta's we're using also have different resolutions etc ... it's really only to check up on the high-profile cheat methods. By 'folks' I actually meant 'person' ... it's just that I really like to keep things small and simple at this point. It's easier to manage and work out problems. Frederik is currently setting up the code at HWBOT's end and I suspect that we'll have a first up and running version in one or two weeks.

Hardware sharing- by people who should know better

I've actually suggested this to some MFCs and as far as I know ... it's in the process of being added. The question then, of course, is whether this information will be accessible or not. -

Serial numbers is possible (eg: SSD and harddrives). It's not possible on VGAs and CPUs for some strange reason. -

Quote me where I did. Seriously ... I don't know when I said that. What I don't understand is how people could sell good samples to team mates WITHOUT having 'more points' as motivation. Any good hardware I get at my place, I hold onto so closely so that I'm sure it won't get killed. The other alternative is making team point attributions so tight that it's just one score that contributes to the team's total. One guy has a 6.5G 980X, no other person will be able to contribute to the team's total. I'm sure this is what no one wants. Any other suggestion is welcome. Do note ... we will certainly not require anyone to make photo/video verification. The idea behind hwbot is to make overclocking enjoyable, which means more focus on clocking, less focus on ruling. -
There are some folks testing it at the moment and apparently we kick FM's ass at this moment . Not too much details on the security system. Validation will be through direct online submission or saving of the file. Screenshot included.

Okay ... looks like some people are ready to screw the bot over. Maybe we should switch to a new team competition where only the best score attributes to the team total. At least there will be 'no temptation' to cheat the system then, no? Djeez, I'm getting sick of the "what are the rules so we can screw people over by finding the loopholes"-mentality. That's quite nice man! Who cares about the disadvantage. You can still look each other in the eyes without feeling shame. It never changed. It's always been like this. -

Selling within the team is allowed. Abuse of this rule (meaning selling to all you team members to improve the ranking) will not be tolerated and will result in a ban for all involving members and, since he's in charge of the team, the team captain. -
