  1. You guys realize that the string 'ES' can be easily removed from the CPU-Z application if you change the microcode in the bios, right? If manufacturers can't, then Intel can for sure ... and the modification will also be shared with the mainboard manufacturers who want their boards to shine.
  2. So no one found the chart?
  3. Sometimes I feel like we're in the middle of a corporate nuclear war, armed with nothing more than a kitchen knife.
  4. HWBOT has the option to host an information page on every hardware info page. It would be really nice to have things like modded bioses up there
  5. Okay, first 4000-2000-4000 run. Same OS, same CPU, same memory, same everything besides the mainboard. Memory set to 'extreme', '6/4 config' and '7-7-7-21 1T and TRCF=100 fixed, other auto' Comparison with another board here
  6. I would need some type of overview ... no idea what the bios stands for
  7. Received a new bios for the board. Right-click and save. Bios V1.11 Do NOTE that this is a BETA bios. Flashing is on YOUR own risk!
  8. ... but what is it? There's a new kind of overclocking related chart on some hardware information page here on HWBOT. We've been playing with the query last week and although the chart is still beta (needs some fixing in other words), it gives a good estimation on what we will be trying to do in the future. Now ... who is the first to find the chart? (RichBa5tard, you cannot play. SF3D, you cannot play either)
  9. If you want to, I can upload them and put them on the AN7 info page on hwbot for future reference.
  10. I agree. I'm not all too happy about all these 'supercool overclocking solutions'. Of course I can only speak for myself, but I prefer to get a physical overclocking tool inside the box when I buy it. No software, no necessary cell phone or notebook purchase or additional cost.
  11. Tomorrow I think. Still have some liquids left in the tank!
  12. Just arrived today ... haven't done much more than open the box and install the platform and take a few lame-ass flash-enabled pictures. First bios boot looks promising - finally they made the switch to the legendary P55 series bios layout! Will update once I got a few decent figures up.
  13. * Please insert a million coins in HWBOT slot machine *
  14. You can submit in all three stages with all CPU
  15. That's what GIGABYTE wanted. It's a bit different style of competition than normal.
  16. It's nice to speculate and dream about moving A0 (or 'freaky samples') to another category, but the practical side of things isn't so easy. - Who goes into what category? - Can we force someone to go to one category? - Can you live with not being placed in the 'pro' category? - What to do with the normal overclockers who bought one A0? - What happens to the point distribution: different category, but how to give points to team? - Can results from the pro category affect points from the normal category? - etc ...
  17. There seems to be some issues with the DDR3 stage ... trying to fix it right now.
  18. Background was added in the competition page
  19. So, if I'm reading between the lines correctly, it's not so much about the ES mark on the CPU but rather the fact that the good CPUs are in the hands of manufacturers and are spread to overclockers. Or: the fact that some people from the community are (pre-)selected to use these very good samples to break some world records. Would this be ok then: a manufacturer invites a few overclockers for an overclocking gathering. At this gathering, each are handed a tray of 200 retail 980X and they have a week to bench and at the end they can take the best 980X home as present for the work. Retail is of course not bought-in-the-shop retail, but with a retail stepping on top of the IHS. Or allow those people to bin through 100 GTX 480s and each take a 1350MHz card home? To me, it still seems to be an attempt to cling on to the illusion that everyone is much more fair when there are no retail. The whole notion of an increased chance on having the best chip is contradiction the attempt to make it more fair as the one with the most luck would be having the best scores. And luck isn't a particularly fair concept.
