  1. well usually when you fight the law it always wins in the end , i lost as well, lol, i really dont know what to suggest with this, id like some other guys that have come across this to chime in and give their experiences and opinions on it too if thats possible, i really find it hard to see that its a motherboard issue as the boards are proven performers with and without LN2 with different cpus, so if anyone is able to chime in on this please do
  2. well it maybe the Godavari core (7870K) is more sensitive than the Kaveri core (7850K) or it seems to be that way Lee, it didnt matter what temp mine was at -0c or lower to -24c it didnt want to know about it, i didnt try any more after that, just a waste of LN2, but it seems the silicone lottery applies again, as it does in everything we buy thank you for the replies
  3. well regardless of the temps , from the research and comments ive done and read from different people they have cold bug issues with the godavari core cpus, i tried mine on ln2 for the team cup frequency section and found it was no better than what it did for chilled water so i was interested to see if anyone here was willing to share their yes or no if they have suffered the same fate as me with the godavari core , especially within the AMD 7870k
  4. thx for your input about yours super. mine booted @-24c into windows then locked up, so i tried warming it, same thing, boots into windows and still locks up, same settings, so om sure its the godavari core, the kaveri core i read doesnt have this issue, if im wrong please tell me
  5. i tried my 7870K on ln2 yesterday for the first time, useless as an ashtray on a motor bike, didnt matter what temperature, it went to windows then locked up, it did no better than ice water, i have read others have had issues with the same APUS with the steamroller architecture in the Godavari core as well, has anyone found a work around from it, there are others that have achieved a nice 5600 mhz down to 5 gig, so im thinking they have a good chip to get above 5 gig, seems the Kaveri core is a different cup of tea altogether, thoughts please ?
  6. overkill ??? i doubt it, girlfriends are overkill, they fail all the time, this unit wont do that !!!
  7. thx barbo , i read it, very much food for thought there, he also used acetone to clean it off, i thought acetone may have been a little harsh but obviously works fine so it looks like the vaseline residue could well be the problem hes having here with the 45T extreme, hoping he gets it sorted out
  8. i didnt know that barbo, i dont know about the others ive never used them, but always thought vaso wasnt conductive, that cans my theory then,
  9. it is non conductive, ive never had a problem with it ever, i use vaso on my foam pads always and it does leak into the socket but never caused a boot loop prob ,and have filled the socket with vaso prior to the foam pads used now, from what ive found boot loop is cpu socket condensation , bad ram, gpu issue, or motherboard issue, im guessin theres condensation somewhere, maybe a cpu not seated and making contact properly, this sort of thing is a trial and error , put it in the sun for a week, with remove the battery and clr cmos jumper on then retry it is what id try ,
  10. ive had vaseline in the socket as well, but never had it stop it from booting, ive even put vaseline in the socket once with no booting issues, and being in australia you know the issue we have with colder temps aginst the ambient temp and the condensation that happens at times, maybe there was some condensation from the dice still lying around stopping it from booting, i use methylated spirits as is disipates moisture and dries pretty quickly and soft bristle brush to clean it off, it takes a little time but does dilute the vaseline and im careful to brush the pins if its an intel socket the way the pins lie as in some intel sockets they change their lie direction, once i can see the metho stay its clear appearance i use a heat gun to dry or it can be left in the direct sun for a few days to make sure its completely dry, i do the same method if no vaseline if i get condensation anywhere, now i use closed foam insulation pads cut to size for the socket and outer socket area and rarely have a condensation issue
  11. im actually having the same issue in my 45Textreme now with a E8400 Wolfdale, i took it out of the P35T-DQ6 (working perfectly) coz i could only get 570 bus from it in it, and to try in the extreme and same deal, no boot, havent tried a conroe tho yet Lewis, and i know the 45 T extreme board worked last bench and the cpu is supported for the board, either the board has developed an issue, or the cpu has died is all i can think of tried 3 different cpus, same reaction, unplugged the 8 pin power supply to the board and i get LED lights and the card spins up, plugged i get nothing so theres a short somewhere, so the board has a problem somewhere, probably the vrm area, theyre weak board, when they go they go ok, they arent as strong as made out to be, this is the 2nd of these boards ive had and ill never buy one of these again, i found my problem, hope yours isnt the same lewis, looks to me that somehow its blown the top right and bottom left corners off the NB chip, oh well , another one gone
  12. just a thought, have you tried 1 stick at a time, see if theres any conflict, if 1 will do the speed and the other doesnt want to but will go at a lower speed, but not the same speed together, if so maybe you found a problem with a ram stick, you know what youre doing, just a suggestion noxi
  13. wonder whats going on there, i havent had trouble validating with it, i validated 2 times today with 1.79.1
  14. the team cup is just what it says, "a team event", if it is 1 player from a team then it isnt a team event, its 1 member from any particular team, its not a team participation spread over the team and a team participation is the whole idea of the TEAMS CUP competition in my view and how i percieve its meaning, the teams cup requires strategy, cunning, communication and tenacity for the "team" to become the winning team or place getters, along with good hardware and good software installation and useage imo

    Help a kid out

i been trying for nearly 2 days now i cant find it as well, hes missing a lot of votes im sure, hes a good kid and very talented at such a young age, its a damn good build too
  17. i dont give 2 jacks arse about the devils A, your opinion doesnt change the rules, bot makes the rules not you, and ive been in -40c , and no i dont thank christ, you can keep it all to yourselves but youre saying do i really live in -20c lol, get with it bloke, i really live in 20c to 45c every year lol
  18. well mate its as simple as this, in 1 post you dont understand, the next you get my case, i suggest you get a lesson in english then...pretty easy , all youre doing is stirring a pot and you know it, pretty childish really !!!!
  19. lol in 1 breath he says hes not sure what my point is/was, then next breath he gets my case...too funny, im done
  20. and the biggest devils advocate here is you, stop drawing straws , you agree 1 minute then refute the next, get over yourself mate
  21. and ill add this too, too many whingers on here , tired of reading about on here about cpu voltages, why is his higher or lower ,each cpu has its own voltage it likes or dislikes, no matter what cooling, you blokes make me laugh, you expect 1 cpu to be the same as the other lol, to perform the same way, it dont happen that way, are you the same as another person >> ? do you like heat or cold ? do you perform better in what temps ?? cold or hot ? ill bet my arse colder everytime, for such supposedly experienced overclockers ? , seems to me you miss the whole shebang of it. ...voltage causes heat and without the cooling to compensate youre up shit creek without a paddle
  22. as far as im concerned the problem lies with BOT and their caterogisation of the term in which the cooling is cooling, called, used etc, take custom for example, to me that means anything that isnt standard and is modified from the standard, take a car for eg, if its a custom car, that means it can be anything from the standard design, and i take that meaning for water cooling the same, BOT has made a rod for its own back in this catergory / terminology, what ever you want to call it
