Nazar Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 http://www.futuremark.com/products/pcmarkvantage/ new bench software released. Will it be included into hwbot. When? Quote
MaSell Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 Basic Trial Edition (One Time Use Only) Ahahaha very funny Quote
Nazar Posted October 18, 2007 Author Posted October 18, 2007 For $19.95 you will get satisfaction :-) Quote
MaSell Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 I prefer to buy gf6200 for $20 and add few points I think that hwbot should have only freeware benchmarks. Quote
Crew Turrican Posted October 18, 2007 Crew Posted October 18, 2007 Basic Trial Edition (One Time Use Only) Ahahaha very funny lol, first when i read that, i though it was a joke Quote
TASOS Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 I believe that PCM Vantage should be added. Quote
Nazar Posted October 18, 2007 Author Posted October 18, 2007 I am No 3 !!! with 6828 :-) Test runs about a hour :-) Quote
MaSell Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 Test runs about a hour :-) What?!? Second joke from Futuremark Quote
hifiking Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 The test needed for a score takes aprox 26 min. Still a little long. Quote
BenchZowner Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 And the question with Vantage is...waste Nitrogen or run the cascade ? Jeez, 25 mins bench Quote
Fixxxer Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 I prefer to buy gf6200 for $20 and add few points I think that hwbot should have only freeware benchmarks. QFT Quote
aspstein Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 Seems to me that this new benchmark is quite advanced. And futuremark har probably used alot of time making it. But I think it shouldnt be added to hwbot before its free. Or atleast you should be able to run it a couple of times to get a score. And 25 minutes. Jeez Quote
BulldogPO Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 Advanced edition is not that hard to buy if you think how much you can tweak your Vista based PC with it. It a very little price compared to anything. I know that many of hardcore hwbotters have bought PRO versions of all previous Futuremar products. PC Mark Vantege should be added to hwbot. Quote
mtzki Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 Adding Vantage without enabling hwboints is also possible. Quote
Nazar Posted October 19, 2007 Author Posted October 19, 2007 IMHO PCM Vantage should not be added. Could you give any reason why? except of humble opinion? :-) Adding Vantage without enabling hwboints is also possible. The same. The main concept of hwbot is to receive hwboints. Removed old benchmarks must be replaced with something new. Why new PCM could not be a candidate? Quote
BulldogPO Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 Well, Vista is becoming more and more popular operating system so... Quote
mtzki Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 Why new PCM could not be a candidate? Well just tried to mention not giving boints is always one possibility. Anyways, here are a few reasons why it might actually make sense too now: * no usable free version available * 26 mins or so * no way to tell how well the run is going * one might need ioDRIVE to go high in the charts eventually Vantage looks to me like a great benchmark for system builders, hw reviewers and such...but really not too good for competitive benchmarking. btw did some testing with iRAM yesterday and the score wasn't any better than with a single WD RE16 drive. Looking at the scores so far in ORB it seems obvious HDDs play a large role again, but it might be mostly about burst bw this time. So a large array of HDDs in RAID0 looks like the way to go in this bm until that ioDRIVE. http://www.pcper.com/article.php?aid=224&type=expert&pid=5 Quote
mtzki Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 Here's a multicompare link to the iRAM test: http://service.futuremark.com/orb/multicompare_view.jsp?p0=656&n0=iRAM&p1=277&n1=single+WD+RE16&t=iRAM+test&k=18&s=1&l=1&c=-1370763038 The other test was with completely same hw settings, only Vantage installed to the system drive. The runs are definitely not identical, but i'd guess with Vantage the system drive might play a big role in HDD tests even with the bm installed somewhere else. Not much documentation on Vantage out yet so cannot say for sure. Quote
hifiking Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 Well, vista Performs a lot better in both PCMark05 and Wprime32/1024 So there is a reason to start switching. But for 3D XP is still better. Quote
demiurg Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 Anyways, here are a few reasons why it might actually make sense too now: * no usable free version available * 26 mins or so * no way to tell how well the run is going * one might need ioDRIVE to go high in the charts eventually I am totaly agree with it. hifiking Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Is there any plans to give PCM Vant any hw points? Quote

BulldogPO Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 I dont think that any of us is going to buy this app if no points are given. Quote
Massman Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 Is there any plans to give PCM Vant any hw points? Not in the near future. If FM changes its policy and makes the PCMark Vantage usable for more than one bench, then there is no real problem. Quote
