Administrators websmile Posted September 23, 2016 Administrators Posted September 23, 2016 (edited) Good luck for everyone, minimum temps accepted will be 20degrees Celsius as on stage 1, The Stage is limited at clock frequency for core and cache (4200.00), no limitations on cores and threads used but 2011-3 not allowed as well as Titan XP Pascal Edited September 26, 2016 by websmile Updated Quote
Rauf Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 4200.00 should be ok for x99. Doesn't really matter what you decide though Quote
Administrators websmile Posted September 24, 2016 Author Administrators Posted September 24, 2016 4200.0000000 Quote
Administrators websmile Posted September 26, 2016 Author Administrators Posted September 26, 2016 OK, obviously the original plan was not changed as the announcement and rules tab initially proposed. Updated opening post to clarify 2011-3 not allowed, all other platforms are OK as long as retail and non-server hardware. Sorry the inconvenience, was obviously a communication problem we now fixed before the start. Rules will get updated as well Quote
Rauf Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 This makes no sense. Now we should bench X79??? Quote
Administrators websmile Posted September 26, 2016 Author Administrators Posted September 26, 2016 This makes sense because we initially agreed on keeping the cost and price of hardware needed at "normal" level to give also people without new gen 1-1,7k cpu the chance to participate with a realistic chance to get decent position. This is why TitanX Pascal is out as well. The stages are balanced this way, I was more than surprised when I saw and got response first now 2011-3 should be only platform instead of being ruled out. Rauf Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 Still don't think it makes sense. This way you make it useless for people having z170 as well as x99 setups. Which would be like 90% of the users here probably... The only way to win would be with 6 core X79 setup. Quote
Administrators websmile Posted September 26, 2016 Author Administrators Posted September 26, 2016 At 4 stages, we do not think we should give same advantage on each one to the same setups. The competition is also a last burn in test for the benchmark, so a variety of systems is welcome Quote
Menthol Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 My bad for getting rid of my X-79 setup, whatever hardware is to be used just make it clear and the chips fall where they fall Quote
TyphooNick Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 In 90% of the users of this site there are several platforms. So there is a choice. Therefore I agree with the rules ... Quote
meankeys Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Do we have a good link to the background? Thank You Good luck everyone Quote
Administrators websmile Posted September 30, 2016 Author Administrators Posted September 30, 2016 Yes, if the link at eocsports fails for someone, here it is https://hwbotnews.s3.amazonaws.com/Competitions/1731_RogRealbenchChallengeRound2/2016_Realbench_ChallengeII_1920x1080-v2.png Quote
TyphooNick Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Hi, x99 allowed or not? No, it is not allowed... Quote
Menthol Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 I cannot keep minimum temps above 20c with 6700K at 4200 mhz, hope this is OK Quote
jab383 Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 There seems to be trouble with temperature monitoring. My AMD video card did well to heat the water to around 29C. Core idle temperatures were still around 23 - 24C. Below temperature of the water does not make sense. Quote
Administrators websmile Posted September 30, 2016 Author Administrators Posted September 30, 2016 (edited) This is a frequency limited stage, cpu temps will be handled generously as long as you don´t show me apprentice 0 degrees^^ - aynway, raise volts, this helps Edited September 30, 2016 by websmile Quote
InfamousTR Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 Is there a limit regarding the operating system? I found no mention in the competition rules nor realbench main page. Quote
Administrators websmile Posted October 1, 2016 Author Administrators Posted October 1, 2016 Realbench has its own rtc check, no limits on operating system Quote
Menthol Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 Since there is a frequency cap there is no on the fly adjusting of blck or multiplier? Quote
Administrators websmile Posted October 1, 2016 Author Administrators Posted October 1, 2016 No, above 4200 is not allowed, it would not make sense to use lower frequency and then bump to 4200. Any particular reason you ask? Quote
Guest itabellaOC Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Itabella, where are you?? Did you miss me? I'm here stivut Quote
havli Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 I assume Xeon E5-1650 is considered server HW? Quote
