VRMark suitable for competitive overclocking?

Featured Replies

We're about 10 days away from the end of the competition, so let's ask the question: is VRMark suitable for competitive overclocking?

Would love to read the input from the top competitors in this contest :)

Both are a bit odd to look at on a normal monitor with the split screen graphics.

Orange Room: Scales with CPU/GPU clocks and driver tweaks, repeatable scores.

Blue Room: Scales with GPU clocks and driver tweaks, repeatable scores.

The results seem very consistent with no outliers. Orange room seems to be very CPU dependent and although Blue room is more overall system, it seems to be highly dependent on the GPU. In my opinion the high level of consistency makes it suitable for competitions.

I haven't run these, but I don't see the need for them. Time spy and fire strike seem to do the same thing. And vantage and 3d11 more or less also.

I also strongly dislike the visual aspect. Benchmarks are supposed to be nice to look at and showcasing the latest and greatest is visual effects etc. Here at hwbot we won't run these bench the way they are supposed to (with VR) so I don't think there is any value in using them competitively.
