  1. Needs a fix, the bench itself looks cool:) But i bet there will be some sort of message tomorrow, but I'll leave that to the "big guys" when they wake up in 6-7 hours. Jus for the record: alot of 3dmark versions are bugged as well, "bugged high, bugged low" - we've all heard that a few times. Time to remove them from the bot, so we're left with am3 + vantage perhaps?
  2. Uhhh... I don't get this, is the benchmark just reading some parameters and determining the score based on that, or does it indeed measure some sort of memory performance?
  3. I've ran alot of stuff on air, and I usually end up getting a few points here and there:confused: It's definately possible to get points on basic air/water cooling. Yes, you need subzero to get top spots (normally), but why is that such a bad thing? A cheap pot and some LN2 isn't that expensive, at least not in the US. In the end, you choose cooling method yourself. Lower temps = better scores, but it's also more risky and difficult when you have to start insulating and psh voltages through the roof - but that's what this game is about
  4. It could be something that isn't optimized for L3 cache in the code. Even so, a benchmark result isn't necessarily a good representation of real world performance. I bet there are cases where HT actually harms performance as well, but it's not a bug:p
  5. Yeah, I think tight subtimings are really important.
  6. Ty! Exams are over, just waiting for a full dewar so I can start overclocking some stuff. Winbond FTW:D Too bad I didn't use a better CPU, or I could go a bit higher. This 4000+ isn't bad, but I have an Opteron or two that can beat iy. But I guess I don't need to bring out those before the dewar is here:D Would be cool if I could do this at like 275x14.
  7. I think it's better that we discuss this in the mod section rather than having 200 people complain here There is a report button you can use - no need to make a witchhunt in the public forums...
  8. It's the only option if we want to remove, it's the same as when we change other rules - we can't remove other submissions that were valid at the time they were posted.
  9. If you have a pro class and an amateur class, where the pro class is the "everything goes"-league, and they choose to join it, then they can't really whine about the rules, as there already is a league for the ones who don't like mfg support and uberbinned engineering samples.
  10. OK, My PC5000 OCZ sticks are very good based on the memtest results, I could run 2.5-3-3-7-1T at 3.1v and... 326Mhz:D (tested one pass through test 5, that's the toughest one AFAIK) - I wonder if this particular test likes frequency over timings, if so maybe I should use these instead of my VX kit:) I'll try in windows when I find my bench drive, it's somewhere in my mess Edit: 2.5-4-3-7 335Mhz with 2 errors Too afraid to go any higher on the voltage for just quick testing, so I'll leave it at that I have more sticks to try. And... still onthe Expert, I bet they can do slightly more on the Venus:)
  11. OK... HOLIDAYS! Maybe I'll look for my 939 drive straight away to test some sticks.
  12. I think there is a difference, one of them can go one or two multipliers LOWER if you wish:D But that's got nothing to do with overclocking, hehe.
  13. I think most rookies know they won't hit the top overnight anyway:p We can't have some ubernoob league as well, that's a bit too much separation. The question here is more about resources, do you have a company backing your ass, that's clearly different than spending your own money:) Some people spend more than others, but it's still the same playground. I think the reason for my Hamburg invite was that my teammate's preferred partner was unavailable, nothing else;) I contributed very little... never touched the i-series before that day:D
  14. I may get a mobo because I was a part of the event in Hamburg a while ago, but really... I'm no pro. Not even close - I know K8, and some basic Wolfdale stuff, but that's it:)
  15. One thing is to ask about a submission, another is to ban the user for submitting it. What you call a "weird" result is usually "weird" because of crazy efficiency or something like that, not because of the name it was submitted under. Hell, I never touched a Wolfdale before my E8700 at 6.7Ghz... no-one accused me of anything then. I don't see that there are many other variables, tbh. We catch cheaters who submit "bad" scores, too, it's not limited to the ones who have 500+ boints;) It's not really relevant to the discussion,so I guess it's time to stop arguming about that. I just made a point about one of Bill's posts a couple of pages ago.
  16. People can have a luck with a retail, well-known nickname or not. I don't think we've ever blocked users because they submitted scores that were too good for an unknown OC'er. We look at other things, proof of photoshop etc.
  17. If bencher A and bencher B have never been caught cheating, they have an equal possibility of being a cheater. That's my point.
  18. No, I say it's just as likely that he cheats as anyone else if you can't prove it. Now he's saying high clocks on retail = cheat. BS! He'll ignore any result that doesn't fit with his theory, until there are 300 of them...
  19. I don't have any reason to trust your scores either, but THANK GOD it comes down to hard evidence in the end. OPB was banned twice, Andre... never? If he did something that upset you, I'm really sorry, but in my eyes he has a flawless record. I take away your excuse to ban engineering samples, too, if there are 6.7GHz capable retails out there;) You can say whatever you want about such a score (if it ever happens), but you still base it on feelings and not facts. Fact: CPUZ would recognize a retail as a retail. I think everyone has a motive for everything, even posting in this thread.
  20. OK, so if he posts a 6.7GHz score you'll accuse him of using an ES - even if there is no proof that he did? If he posts and CPUZ recognizes it as a retail, it is a retail until someone can prove it's not. High CPU speed is not proof.
  21. Again, how can you tell how many chips each bencher try? You just assume alot... no hard facts. Maybe some end up on ebay, but that happens to shitty retails as well.
  22. Let's wait and see if Andre will post the advertized 6.7GHz retail benches. That should prove that you can get a competitive retail if you just bin enough. Then you can choose: bin A0 samples without warranty... you need less, but if you break one -> 1000 bucks in the toilet. Or you can bin B1 retails, and sell them on ebay if they're not good enough. maybe you need to try alot before you find a really good one, but retail binning IS a part of the game, and has always been.
