The official HWBOT OC Challenge June 2010 thread.
knopflerbruce replied to NoMS's topic in HWBOT Competitions
In other words... I need some LN2 if i want to compete:D My exams are over soon, and I got a nice TCCD kit in the mail a few days ago - maybe I can get a decent score at least for DDR. -
You can always lap the IHS, too. In fact, that's pretty common - at least for CPUs that are not so expensive. But i bet it happens with 980x chips as well.

The official HWBOT OC Challenge June 2010 thread.

Just wondering... is this benchmark dependant on CPU speed? I mean... I run some sticks at 300x9, will I get a better score at 300x10, for example? I know I could probably try it myself, but i need to finish my exams first -
If someone wanted to get video proof from me, I'd say: OK, but you visit me and pay your own airplane tickets + LN2 etc needed for the session + my standard hourly wage for the amount of time the session lasts. I think that's fair, at least if you want to have it within a reasonable time frame. To do this is impossible, unless you have a crazy wallet and no job yourself - which is a rare combination. IMO the best thing we can do is to ask people to try to make the competition fair by not using these factory picked samples. Blocking ebay bought engineering samples doesn't make any sense., they're available to anyone. The "illegality" argument isn't valid IMO, Intel doesn't take any actions so in reality they allow us to use these chips. It's a bit like that street in Hamburg where the prostitutes can offer their services, even if it's outside the legal area. The police don't care => who should the people care?

Well... the mod stuff is quite fair. Some guy thought of something clever that worked. It's a fair game, everyone can figure it out if they have the knowledge.

FYI, editing a score makes it receive no boints because of a bug (unfixable?). If you need to edit a score, I suggest a reupload instead.

I buy them because they're cool to have. Especially AMD ones, as they're rare. Plus, some unreleased models are only available as ES. Scored a QX9750 on ebay the other day, for example - which will only compete against itself, in it's own HW category.
-
I have plenty of ES CPUs, but I've never been sponsored with ANYTHING. And I'm not alone. Splitting based on owning an ES or not is a bad idea.

I don't think 150MHz is THAT much. It's roughly 2.3%... Given the volume of retails I bet the gap will decrease with time. Sure Hicookie got a freak chip, but it's not really comparable to anything else. Based on his chip alone, the rest suck - retails a tad less than the best (other) ES's.
-
Hicookie's chip is far better than the rest. The rest aren't that much better than what you'd call a good retail.

Should I recieve points for this?

It's because it was edited, and there's a bug in the system. The best way to solve is to resubmit, and type the correct CPU this time:p -
Anyone explain this result ??

What's the NDA talk about? -
I'm an easy guy to beat

In 32m you need both, however 192 is total overkill. I bet he could get a better score with a lower number of threads, it wouldn't surprise me for a second if the first few threads were already finished when the last ones started to work. If you keep your PP I think you need less than 5.5GHz, actually. A tleast not as much as 6, not sure how uncore etc will affect the score.

My e4500 WP scores are coming up as a 4x
knopflerbruce replied to Bobnova's topic in Submission & member moderation
It should be 1x, tbh... but the best way is to re-submit, as there is a bug when you edit scores - you end up getting no boints for the edited ones. -

It's a pretty standard feature that you can disable cores in the BIOS. Nothing weird here (or in any of the other threads OP made). -
After the nitrogen problems

Don't use the same high voltages as on LN2. Apart from that... no worries, unless you've covered a chip with insulation that gets grazy hot without a -100c PCB:D
