Everybody needs to send me their ES so I can set WR, impossible without ES! Drama! Flames! War!

It's CPU usage is bizarre, at the halfway point it was only using three cores, then six, then 9, then 12 by the end.

I have to say that if I'm right I'm going to be very annoyed with Intel. Figuring out where to draw the line on "reasonably priced" would be quite the trick. I'd leave it how it is, personally. (unless Intel's 12 core chip hits 2ghz more then all others but costs $15k, that's an easy line )

I figure lga2011 will scale under cold, allow bclk OCing, and cost $2k for the top chip.

I think you're probably right. Though where that registry thing lives is the important part really. If it's in EPROM in the cpu it doesn't really matter much. Some sort of ColdForgetItBug like the fermi ColdSlow bug (except more(?) intentional), and won't be there with the Extreme series. Financially it makes sense to lock the K-not-X cpus away from the really high speeds, otherwise there is no market for Xtreme cpus.

Pretty nice looking score there! (Read: Stomped mine into the dirt) Now I have to buy more hardware
-
Makes sense, thanks for explaining why the sponsors only is in there. I think it'd be great to be able to have user-thrown contests as level1 (assuming they're big enough and open, etc.).

The official HWBOT OC Challenge December 2010 thread.
Bobnova replied to Massman's topic in HWBOT Competitions
Bust out the floppy drives and hope your windows floppies haven't decayed? Worst part is installing 3.1 on a 486 is faster then installing win7 on a core2duo. -
I like it, by and large. On competitions, if I were to throw one and get some gigabyte/msi/adata/anyothersponsors sponsorship and a banner, would that count? Or does it have to be gbt/msi/etc. themselves throwing it?

I like the OC panel, looks totally stock.

Winter Season 2010 / 2011 - picture collection
Bobnova replied to SoF's topic in Extreme overclocking
Now that's a proper use for rog connect, no need to walk outside if it crashes! That's absolutely glorious. -
HT is worth ~30% if it's well utilized (wprime, for example), but it's a hardware feature rather then a software feature.
-
I'm against it, personally. There are plenty of futuremark tests already, it currently kills vantage, can't see subscores, free version is nearly useless, blegh.
-
Not completely random, but random words. Random letters you can chop together and who knows whether that A used to be next to that E, but if you're trying to chop in a 4x6 character block and you have random 6 character words trailing into it from both sides it'd be a nightmare. I'd generate it before running the bench, then it's not especially different from any other background. Plus, if the bench requires it be done it's just another part of the bench.

Please can this kind of submission be made illegal?
Bobnova replied to K404's topic in Submission & member moderation
I know some do it on 05 and 06 because you can't see the score except online unless you pay. Vantage i don't know if it's set up the same way or not. -
To what extend should this subforum be anonymous?
Bobnova replied to Massman's topic in HWBOT OC-Crime Center
I like the invisible threads option, personally. I'm assuming that you mean visible only to the creator and the moderators. Visible threads will almost certainly lead to pissing matches between the accused (and their friends) vs the accuser (and their friends) with nothing useful being done. -
I like that guy, whoever he is. That fixes the dram drive "problem" rather nicely
-
IMO the hdd and especially CDR tests should be ripped out, solves a lot of cheating problems that way. If this is able to run easily without installing five billion chunks of outdated software (looking at YOU pcmark05), I'm a fan already.

Snapshot - automated screen capture by ihlades
Bobnova replied to Monstru's topic in Benchmark software
I'll try it, i hate having to use mspaint. Thanks! -
My thoughts: By far the simplest pifast cheat is yee olde photoshoppe, strikes me that a nice easy way to get rid of that one (if you even allow screenshot pifast submissions, making it auto-submit-only would do the trick right there) would be to have the background colors randomly selected on startup. Hard to photoshop two things with different colors fading around together.

This makes me very happy. A big Thank You to FM for listening to us!

PCMark05 and disk speeds and ramdisks and such
Bobnova replied to Bobnova's topic in Benchmark software
That makes sense. Thanks. -
If there is a 220mb/s limit on the XP load test, why are software ramdrives still illegal? This makes no sense to me. The rule started before anything could even get close to that number so it made sense. Now though with SSDs having to be limited to get under the cap, why are software ramdisks still illegal?
