Woot. Thanks massman! I figure whatever comes up next can be dealt with when it comes up.

I do not approve, personally. Not after years and years of "NO!" "NO!" "Go buy expensive stuff!", now it's "SURE! Nuke the entire rankings with a ramcache that gives ramdrive type performance but has a different name!". -
Suggestion: Cohesive rules
Bobnova replied to Bobnova's topic in HWBOT Development: bugs, features and suggestions
No official comment? Really? Do you fellows have any idea how hard it is to educate a new bencher on the rules when they're spread out through dozens of threads with vaguely or less relevant titles and 50+ pages? Not helping spread benching, that's for sure. -
Can I file a bug report for the rules pages?
-
It would be really, really, really nice if all the rules were in one place where everybody could see them at any time. Currently they're in a few dozen different threads on page 42 of 2419 in said threads, or maybe in the actual rules section, except the rules section is out of date, or maybe only in massman's head. Having the all in one spot where we can read them (which excludes massman's head), would be really nice. I would like that more than new sig images, which is saying something as I'd really like new sig images.

Updating Competition Framework

I'd love to see a contest or two that uses #2 from Mr. IMOG. I think it could be very interesting indeed. -

Holy hell Christian, that's some mighty nice work. I'm impressed! The only reason I could see for HWBot staff not to compete is if they know the contest rules/specifics before it starts. Sounds like they don't, so I don't have a problem with it. Of course, it looks suspicious, so I'm pretty sure he should have his account merged with someone elses -

I see it as akin to LOD as it is a minor change in score (maybe) that is getting blown all out of proportion. Seriously though, the score actually used is always going to be the sse3 score anyway, so why run the other stuff? -

I'd say it's more like LOD for 3d tests, personally. -
AMD FX-8150: Linux Performance Preview 1

Is it still a preview when the chip is available retail? I applaud the linux testing though. -

More like a No-Die 6850. It's not so much dead as gone. -
Personally I would rather air the thing out and have it be the one benchmark that you can abuse the ever living hell out of. If everybody is using the tweaks that are cheating now it's a level playing field again. Voila! Unlike pro sports and steroids, nobody dies if the rules are removed. Removing points entirely is a close second.

It's hard to argue with a 30% higher CPU score in vantage, all it has to do is match or get close to the GPU tests. -

It's vantage, I'd be surprised if it wasn't a GT sweep. Very odd benchmark choice for what is theoretically a GPU contest IMO. -
I would absolutely love to see a listing of what hardware your team has benched and what hardware they have not. Searching around trying to find out what the most beneficial GPU to bench for the team would be is a major pain in the rear.

The CPU score isn't weighted hugely, but it's enough to make taking top spots in older slow cards quite easy with a 980x. The 4k+ CPU score drags the total score up quite a bit even with a three digit GPU score. That was my experience at least. -

First HWBot win in history for OCF? The dawn of a great new era? Classicplatforms very, very nearly got us at the end.
