The official HWBOT OC Challenge January 2012 thread.
I.nfraR.ed replied to Massman's topic in HWBOT Competitions
I personally don't like the idea of deleting better score and replacing it with worse. I'd rather submit my best score on water than aiming at the 6th place with lower clocks than my current 24/7. There won't be any effort in that score. Good that you can still fight for the first place and take 10 points, but let's consider the other possible situation. I'm fighting with knopflerbruce and tiborrr for the first place and throw everything possible in the stage, but in the end I end up 3rd, simply because they are better than me. I won't be disappointed, because it's just the place I'm able to get, no skills/hardware/luck for more. With the new rules, should I produce several results in different timeframes which don't represent my system's maximum and personal skills, and just wait and aim for the 6th place with deleting and uploading differenet scores, depending on other's scores? Imagine 10 minutes untill the end all people deleting better scores and uploading worse scores, so they can take the 6th place. I admire the idea of giving chances to air/water setups, but there are flaws as well. Don't know if there's a perfect solution. I'm ok with ES chips, as long as they are similar to retail chips (e.g. no unlocked multipliers, while the retail chip is locked). Since it's not a model based comp (e.g. Sempron 145 allowed only), I don't see a problem allowing ES chips. -

Cool background. 4 Massmans there -
There are always two sides of the coin. Bulgaria is a small and poor country. Just look how many active extreme overclockers we have. The minimum salary for the country is 145euro and the average is something around 350euro (valid for the capital, other cities have way lower average). Prices of everyday goods are not cheaper than any country in the EU. Overclocking is not popular amongst hardware shops, so no sponsors as well, we have to buy everything on our own. There's nothing wrong with using available hardware. If we had it, we would also use it. There will be always something "unfair" according to different people. We don't compete for the prizes, we just want to show that even little Bulgaria could be on par with the big names in the community. It's about national pride and mostly fun. However I was too frustrated in the end . Anyway, it was my first subzero VGA bench, so I'm quite happy with that. I'm only disappointed from the 3DMark score, but I don't even have a decent DX11 card to pretest and received the second radeon last day of the comp. The stage that I didn't like was PCMark7. I didn't like the idea from the very begining. It was so frustrating, lol.

Yes, someone should do something similar to the research I did for CL4 DDR3, but with dividers. http://hwbot.org/submission/2212232_i.nfrar.ed_memory_clock_ddr3_sdram_1167.9_mhz

Congrats to the winners! Very strong results. Solid results from Greece and Indonesia as well. However, we had a chance to win over Belgium (), but the 3DMark stage was way below my expectations and there was no time and LN2 for more. Happy New Year! See you in next competition -

Hard to beat. My board can't go that high stable, let alone the cpu. Congrats! -

This benchmarks is the most "awesome" one I've ever seen. Seriously, hate it. Too boring and you can't run each test separately. Oh..and the basic version requires internet connection, which I don't have on all test systems. -

What happened with France as well? They had very good results in the previous stages. And still don't get why countries as Germany and USA don't even have the minimum required submissions. Russia should have submitted something, even it had not been the best. We didin't have a good 8-cores result as well. No dual-socket available and no time for a proper run on the FX chip. -

Thanks. I don't have the SPD saved right now. The gear is disassembled now, but I will save the SPD when I have the chance to assemble it again. The memory originally is Crucial Ballistix without any heatspreaders and default timings 6-6-6-18 if I remember correctly. -

even in dual channel, unganged If you make the right settings, then there's no difference between single and dual channel in terms of highest ht ref. -

6132 was slower, 6160 couldn't finish several times. More vCore makes things worse. I'm sure Russia and Poland can beat this. I was aiming at 6160.
