Hello everyone,
Any info about ASROCK B660M PG Riptide? Look like it has external generator, PCI 4.0, DDR4 support -

First of all , we are assuming this is real and not some kind of fake.
If it's real , and according to that era , we are talking about some special bin (pretested) of Corsair Dominator GT (probably GTX2)
That "JAKE" marking , is leading me to Jake Crimmins (aka CPT. PLANET) , who was a very active xtreme ocer at that time and also a Corsair stuff member.
To understand a bit more about what Jake did at Corsair

There should have been a temperature limitation and also a temperature monitoring software in this competition.
So there couldn have been any room for misunderstandings and misinterpretations.
In that way it would be more fair to all.
Cause that simplified "Ambient" rule is not enough ... it's already been bent or "played to the limit".
I am not questioning the good intentions of the competition starter.
Me and Ivan for example cannot compete , when having 30-32C ambient.
We cannot match Alaska's or Alps fresh air nor the chilling night breeze.
We simply cant.
And i definitely dont want to fool my fellow ocers , making them believe that i found a cool place to bench.
Anyway , what's done is done.
P.S.
Is there an expression in English about the ostrich that put it's head into the sand to hide ?
A few years back a big cpu manufacturer was claiming enormous clocks from their new gen cpu , using only AIO cooling (was it a presentation or a comp , i cant remember).
A few days after it was leaked , that they were pouring LN2 on the AIO's rad.
Aaahh ... human nature ...

That's true, however the same applies for "ambient" water cooling. Ambient is not a definitive term. Someone's "ambient" might be below zero (with the rig outside), then other people are in the summer already with degrees over 30 (Celsius) during the day, so it will never be "fair" for everyone, despite the good intentions and idea.
If the verification is done by a rig pic only, then good luck verifying anything.
At least Alby (@leeghoofd) has shown his "ambient" clearly, can't say about others though ?
32C Ambient today , here in Athens
You can always use Mentos ? ?
or even better ... Colgate

Direct die
Great result and great piece of silicon !!
Any problems mounting your water block on direct die ?
What kind of water tempuratures are we talking about for this run ?
And what was your ambient tempurature ?
-
I see great AMBIENT cooling results in this competition !!!
Good luck to all participants for the rest of this competition.
-
This was a "no sub ambient cooling allowed" competition .... right ???
Just making sure , i translated correct.

Tough situation those Conroe's ... you need to find a really good one , with no walls and other limitations.

Well done mate !!! That Cascade you built ... it's an OC Jewelry !!!

Well done.
Great cpu !!!
Getting really close to the legendary chip of gianni-gt
xtremesystems.org era.

Strong score !!

Don´t want to be a smartass, but according to sn itis powerchip semiconductor, quite unusual iirc
If i'm not mistaken , the known g.skill s/n pattern does not apply to DDR era.

The G.Skill ddr1 kit , must be Hynix D43.

Skills + vg cpu + new gen bios = perfect combo !!!
Congrats !!!

The P/N you mentioned were the kingmax Hercules ram.

Judging from the pics i found on the net and the specs given (CL10 @2200 at 1.5 XMP) , i'd say they dont look like Hyper.
Most probably some other variant of Elpida chips (maybe BBSE) ?

Here is how an Elpida Hyper looks like
Look for the dot's at the edge of the chip.

Out of curiosity, why is this motherboard so special?
Hi George
ludek , said it all.
I will just add that it has the best available chipset (975) to clock all those socket M cpu's.
I will always treasure mine , parked on that top self.

Congrats to USA for taking that No1 spot.
Sadly , we didnt participated at all this year ... but if i can judge right , it must have been a very interesting and also tough competition.
It seems it was about time , for someone else to "break" that AU domination.
Cheers to everyone who participated and thanks to HWBot for organising !!!

The ammount of memory cannot be a certain factor about this vga gen identification.
Because we had cards with both 64mb and 128mb.
Those cards could become whatever you decide to make them through bios flash or software mod or hardware mod.
The vga core photo or a pcb photo is the only way to determine the exact version of those vga's.
You can have a 8500 or 8500LE or even an Ati FireGL 8800 and mod it to .... whatever.
The honesty factor of each user .... is the only factor in this case.
