  1. Ok, I tried some BIOS flashing. I used 197.45 drivers and GPU-Z 0.5.8 to match Stelaras. If I flashed random in-between values, the Rivatuner MHz adjustment screen shows what I flash in BIOS, but the Rivatuner graphs AND GPU-Z show the normal "quantised" MHz. I also tried again to get "1220" and "1230" MHz memory and could not do it. Anyone else can try this as well of course. I can film my experiment no problem. I don't know how the .3dr file is "alright" can someone ask Futuremark to look into it?
  2. I will try that tonight to confirm, but I don't think so. I think the clock controller over-rides everything else. His stock speeds are the other interesting thing. If he says he didn't use the eVGA thing, his score are even more suspect. 555MHz core suggested MSI "Green" 9800GT, which has no PCI-E power plug and a crappy 2-phase PWM
  3. So are most gangsters, doesn't mean leit Al Capone went to prison for tax evasion. A smart man learns from others mistakes (Not suggesting you're a gangster, just a relevant example! )
  4. I LOL'd Then I realised you might be serious and LOL'd some more
  5. His 9800GT 3D06 http://hwbot.org/submission/2253449_stelaras_3dmark06_geforce_9800_gt_25501_marks 2850MHz shader His 9800GT 3D01 http://hwbot.org/submission/2253446_stelaras_3dmark2001_se_geforce_9800_gt_125019_marks 2900MHz shader Neither of these shader values are possible on G92. GPU-Z reports the actual shader value, not the value set. The steps are 2862 and 2916MHz. Also: His memory. "1240"MHz. This does not exist either. The controller sets 1242MHz. I'm not sure about 1220MHz either. The standard values are 1215MHz and 1224, but I will double check that. Even weirder, his 3D05: http://hwbot.org/image/731882.jpg Shader at 2970 and memory at 1230MHz. Not making any consistent sense at all. Here is a very good example from MTP that shows the normal/expected values: http://hwbot.org/submission/2160810_mtp04_3dmark03_geforce_8800_gts_512_mb_68776_marks Also, WTF?????? At 1170MHz core on a card that coldbugs at -45. He would need some serious BIOS and driver tweaking to get around that. I call complete BS.
  6. 9600GT, now 9800GT...... would you like to share with the community how you are getting around the coldbug?
  7. Thanks guys vCore, vGDDR and OCP mods only. temps... -100 This was my 2nd best card but got a promotion.... the best one died
  8. Thanks There's definitely more in it. vCore was ~ 1.55v under load
  9. There are some very good 5770 cards in Greece!
  10. in a WEEK. RE-SPECT!
  11. If everyone gets one global contribution per benchmark, I expect most people will choose single card because it costs less. Then because the level of competition is higher, for most people, their ranking will be lower, so fewer points. OR.... spend money for less competition and no LN2 needed. Fewer points, but probably a higher ranking. Either way, each user must have a great CPU. ...speaking of CPUs..... what is your opinion on...e.g.... wPrime? One global result per user? What if this idea was introduced for the enthusiast or extreme league only?
  12. Important lesson learned!
  13. It's my first ever IHS removal Even if IHS attachment methods have changed, I have learned some things for sure
  14. I can't decide if i'm happy or sad the 8-core is useless for OCers
  15. It (was) an SL5VR Celeron 1.3. I'm pretty sure it was in a computer I found in a bin 4-5 years ago.
  16. LOL ....yea, I was thinking something similar. Ilya will turn it into a functioning hexcore chip using only some cardboard and paperclips. On his lunch break.
  17. I think i'm ready to try my 990X now Disclaimer: I'm not that ham-fisted. I just wanted the IHS for a keyring. Chip is long dead. A T-rex killed it
  18. Please don't mis-interpret my comment Assuming nothing dies and you have a good resale value, benching 3-way SLI might only change your bank account by 40-60 euros. If you want global points, that is not a high price to pay in the grand scheme of things. My comment has nothing to do with affording the gear in the first place
  19. I disagreed until I read : and that *could* work..... but i'm quite neutral about the situation. I don't mind. Buy 3 or 4 cards, use the stock cooler with the CPU frozen (because most scores will be CPU-bottlenecked,) get scores, sell the spare cards with a small reduction in price, it doesn't cost that much to bench 3 & 4 way. Also have a bonus of knowing things are less likely to die. For the global scores that DO scale with 4 cold GPUs....... how many people here have done that without company support?
  20. Well, at the moment, there are undeniably more nice 30K chips than 60X. I do expect it to be partly down to numbers tested though.... which would you rather buy if the difference is so tiny and the price difference so big?
  21. Yea, my SB does x55 multi, but only 5400MHz for single-threaded stuff. Are the 3930K chips really OCing better than the 3960X? I'd imagine that Andre alone can bin enough X chips to make up for fewer people buying them Could the cache be holding back MHz?
  22. If you go to a party... and happen to fall asleep..... who is going to kick you out? The fact that you had a change of clothes and some toiletries with you as well as beer is just co-incidence
