  1. Thanks Pieter, it sounds really weird... 5,3ghz 32M stable with less than 1,5v, and suddendly this wall? We must try it@ln2, we'll see wether or not it's going past 5,3ghz... let's hope so.
  2. First encounter with SB here, a 2600K coupled with a p8p67pro. Everything's fine until 5,3ghz, then I start to get the "AE" error: so I decided to raise the frequency from windows using TurboV. The tool works fine with voltages etc, the problem is that it doesn't recognize the bclk frequency and it doesn't let me to set it. I tried bioses 1253 and 1204, nothing changes. Any idea?
  3. Hi Rich, you're talking about 2xWD caviar green 2TB, right? or "funds" are other funds? Anyway, great for the beta server preview
  4. Pieter, rev4 time is approaching so I would like to ask if (like it was for rev2 to rev3) is there a server on which you're running a "beta" version, just to see how will points distribution be. thanks!
  5. I posted yesterday in the occrime area but I can't see my thread unless I'm anonymous, not logged in. This is quite strange. So, for me, the options are: 1- invisible threads for the public, in which only the topic opener and the staff could discuss 2- public threads in which everybody can post (not a good idea, already explained some posts before) The solution may be to let someone choose when he's posting, to have the topic invisible or public so that one could evaluate this based on the topic he's opening... if it's an hw sharing report, maybe it's better to keep it invisible because it's a difficult issue to be discovered... if it's a "photoshop submission", there's no need to make it invisible, the solution is quite simple there. p.s. LOL for the pic above
  6. Please tell me if it's correct to post here or we are supposed to post in the oc crime center main forum. Anyway, I'm here to bring the attention on a user addicted to photoshop: that user is Liquid_Cooling. That guy was banned for one year, we're talking roughly about summer 2009. Then he went in the "Team HWForest" and in May 2010 we reported them here: http://hwbot.org/forum/showthread.php?t=7484 The Team was banned, but not his personal account so, this summer 2010 the personal ban lifted and he was able to post submissions. Yesterday, 29th Nov, he posted this screenshot: http://hwbot.org/community/submission/1084634_liquid_cooling_wprime_32m_core_i7_860_5sec_107ms Take a look at these two things: 1- Look at the result for wprime... "5.xxx". As you can see the number "5" is bigger than the rest. 2- Look at cpuz: how can it be that an overclocker can achieve 5.107s with an 860 at roughly 4.7ghz with 4c/4t and not 4c/8t as all the other guys in the rankings with that cpu?! So, speaking to the mods, this guy did THREE times the same thing: photoshop... time to give him a lifetime ban? Thanks!
  7. Mmmhh I'll put it simple and straight: on the balance we have on one hand, points and hwsharing, on the other hand, less points for the teams and practically hw sharing reduced to something unconvenient. For me the balance points straight to reduce or eliminate hw sharing, a plague, not "a thing that only some dumbass is doing"... The complaints are about teams with a lot of points that will go away, in the same categories: this would penalyze also the top ranking guys as they compete usually in the same "arena", eg 980x+gtx480, as only the best score will count and the second, third etc will only count in part, for example 20 or 30% of the score they would gain with hwbot rev3. So, everybody is affected by the loss of points, even the ln2 guys who will compete even inside the team, as it should be, I think. So, I can't predict very well how much team points we'll have with rev4, but I'm waiting for the "beta" on another server (as you did from rev2 to rev3, if I well remember) to see the changes etc...
  8. Congrats to all of you guys, and thanks to MeanMachine for sharing the vmod
  9. You guys have raised the voltage limit to 1,272v without vmodding? Try it with Nibitor 5.7... also, if you need frequencies past 1ghz, flash the bios with higher default freqs, then flash it back to the vga. I did it this thing but giving more than 1,25v at 25+°c resulted in an instant crash at 1000mhz on the gpu. You guys competing in the extreme stage, could give a try to what I'm reporting, if you didn't already know, of course I won't partecipate in the extreme area because I don't have a 980x, so I'll remain watching you
  10. Wow, I saw that MeanMachine used the same "technique" I used, gpu pot and LN2, to constantly remain@25/27°c. I arrived at 1000mhz gpu, stable... the problem is the ram... can't do more than 1100mhz, so I didn't even post the result, it's too bad. Congrats to you guys, impressive clocks, maybe you all have some room for improvements before the comp. ends
  11. Guys, if no rules are better specified, I agree with rickss. Have you ever benched in the old days of the radeon 9000 series? when you were at the limit, everything was screwed up, you couldn't even understand what image was on the screen, given the number of huge and colored artifacts. In this competition the rule is: 5minutes of kombuster, temp above 25°c, afterburner opened, gpuz and background image. So if the limit is 1005mhz with the msi logo screwed up but charging the gpu at 100%, I don't see any difference in the old days of radeons and geffo 1/2/3/4/5 Last word to the mods, of course, just my way of thinking.
  12. Like in any state of the world, the laws tend to avoid that people con do something illegal... if you do, you'll be punished. By letting everybody do what they want, hoping to not be discovered, is the way to far west I think. Put trust that people won't do hw sharing... there are so many examples of hw sharing that I'm not so confident in "trusting people" anymore. Rev4 is not perfect? Ok, but it's a step in the right direction... further adjustments will be done onve rev4 will be up and running. Just my 2 cents
  13. Pieter, consider that teams with over 300points are about 160. I hardly doubt that if some team does sharing or cheating, has less points that a lot of single overclockers here on hwbot. So for me, this team admin "closed" section is something that could help: I mean, for the cheating/reporting fact but also to discuss new hwbot revision or features... a person who represents his/her team and speaks for his/her team mates
  14. Don't know him personally, but I grew up hearing about WRs from him, Macci and others Bye sampsa!
  15. Mhhh I'm sorry, I don't know what to suggest to solve that silly problem
  16. Splave, the problem with the dx doesn't let you open Kombustor, so you can't choose to run in fullscreen or windowed mode. After changing to 259.22 driver and installing the June 2010 dx package, everything was ok
  17. I've had this problem too... I solved it by downloading and installing "directx redistributable package june2010" from microsoft website. My missing dll wad d3d9_42.dll but I think the problem is the same, give it a try.
  18. rickss, I've experienced the same problem with frequencies and forceware 260.63... Try older drivers, like the 259.22, they should work Probably Afterburner doesn't support the latest 260.63... edit: Just tried with the 259.22, everything works fine
  19. Factory overclocked cards, are nothing more nothing less than a normal videocard with stock frequencies. The only differences are in cards like the lightnings, the hawks etc... cards with different pcbs and components. Pieter said "stock frequencies", so I think they should be those I reported in my last post... If it's not correct, I'm truly missing the point... ?_?
  20. It seems ok to me... the part I still don't understand are the percentages calculations: On the MSI website I find for the gts450, the following versions with those frequencies: http://eu.msi.com/index.php?func=prodpage1&maincat_no=130#/getContent.php?cat_no=873&show_type=product 783/1000 850/1000 783/900 850/900 As for the gtx460s versions, here we go: http://eu.msi.com/index.php?func=prodpage1&maincat_no=130#/getContent.php?cat_no=738&show_type=product Hawk: 780/900 Cyclone OC 1gb: 725/900 Cyclone 1gb: 675/900 Cyclone 768D5/OC 768mb: 725/900 Cyclone 768D5 768mb: 675/900 768D5: 675/900 So, the reference clocks are 675/900 for the 460s and 783/908 for the 450: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GeForce_400_Series#GTX_400_Series Is it allright or is there something that I really missed?
  21. I speak for the hwproject team, I voted 200euros because we are roughly 10/20 active members. We don't have a lot of money but giving 10euros each per year is something we can definitely afford.. maybe more, but I didn't want to shoot too high without being 100% sure
  22. I saw the first two results posted... but the percentages are calculated from a 750/950 reference clocks for the 460s. Aren't the ref. clocks of the 460s, 675/900? For the 450s they should be 783/900, shouldn't they?
