A not bad option is to buy a retail kit of 4133c17, as they usually are pretty good.

A2 pcb layout kits and Apex Motherboards are a no-no combination even for 4133 /12-11.

All apex boards ( IX, X, XI ) do not cooperate well with A2 memory.

On the contrary A2 kits ( if good ) can do 4700 up to 4800 on air, 14-13-13-28-2T, at least on Apex XI.

You have to search for very high binned A1 kit that can go to 4266 / 12-11 / 1T, provided you have the IMC to support it.

@Fasttrack no, on Apex XI and Gene XI. Here's a few people who managed 4133 12-11 1t proper or more. I do recall some of the people say that it is more difficult than with A0-pcb, but to others it is no issue.

As usually, people always talk about half of the topic and do not go into details that things changed - 4133c12 now works 1t on new BIOS-versions with tight settings because there is a new option (trace centering), and if you work with bclk you can go higher. Boot at 4200 divider and higher dividers only works 2T with some workaround settings. On top, you need a decent imc especially for bclk oc or good rma connections. Searching for a 4266 12-11 1t a2 kit is useless because chances you get there are extremely low when you have to work up from 4133. If BIOS-Versions improve more, then it could make sense because imho very good kits which do 4266 12-11 gb3 2T now will also succeed 1T at better conditions

As usual, @websmile ( Michael ), put things in their right perspective.

Need to update my bios versions Michael. Still at 0903.

Still nothing can beat though the Galax set doing 4200++ ultra tight ( where tight timings are a must ). And it is A1 layout :)

103 bclk seams that farfetched to you? I used 103 on crappy non k skylake cpus and on 8400 and 8700k. I thought it was resonable to asssume that 9900k would have no problem with 103.

This is nothing new, and sadly nothing is cleared - you need a 9th gen cpu for this to work - same as on apex x and old version of xp bios with 4133 divider with any layout. I already talked to an asus guy about this and think this will not change. Basically any a2 kit capable of doing 4266 will do this because it seems to be an RTL and iol issue. Let me know when this topic is really cleared because I refuse to spend my cash on useless i9 as you know :D

@Fasttrack @websmile Now, I know this is not a majority case scenario. But, is this an example of 4266 ratio 12-11 1t?

If it is, can we figure out how to replicate it?

You need capable sticks to do it. I only have 4 b-die kits and only this one can boot up with 4266 12-11-11 1T tight and 4933 14-13-13

It is the same story since sandy bridge and P67..
