Christian Ney Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 (edited) The nominees are: Results will be like that for each kit: Test system: Asus Rampage Formula Intel Core2Duo E8400 Windows XP SuperPi 1M To valid a frequency or timings they have to successfully pass SuperPi 1M It's not as impressive as the SDRam Challenge because I haven't such an amount of DDR2 memory . But test results may surprise you You can read the full test here at Ocaholic.ch Edited May 4, 2011 by Christian Ney Quote
Hondacity Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 i'll check if my ddr2 board can play with my d9s..lol been too busy with core i series... today we found out some ddr3s can play super with snbs Quote
Eeky NoX Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Wanna mines ? http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1794500 (D9 gmh with 2.6v) But you need the mobo to match with them Quote
Christian Ney Posted May 2, 2011 Author Posted May 2, 2011 Wanna mines ? http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1794500 (D9 gmh with 2.6v) But you need the mobo to match with them yes why not, I will add them to the test Don't worry my Rampage Formula is enought She does easily more than 600 MHz with stock voltage Quote
Eeky NoX Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 wow 2.6v and stock alu cooler? Yup that's Ballistix Tracer 16fd17 something like that. I can rise a bit again bit doesn't really improve a lot over this voltage. It's becoming difficult to run Spi at this range but 1M @700 is reachable... for 32M I'm sure I'd need too loose timings UD3P is the only P45 mobo I get over 666. Noway Chris, I keep them Quote
Christian Ney Posted May 2, 2011 Author Posted May 2, 2011 (edited) it's just for 1 week, I will not kill them ... It's not a s478 Motherboard afaik Edited May 2, 2011 by Christian Ney Quote
Christian Ney Posted May 2, 2011 Author Posted May 2, 2011 first results for the Dominator GT kit: Quote
Christian Ney Posted May 2, 2011 Author Posted May 2, 2011 okay this is getting sick. The Kingston ValueRam Memory is smashing Corsair Dominator GT fyi: KVR Specs : 266 MHz 4-4-4-12 1.8v fyi: Dominator GT : 533 Mhz 5-5-5-15 2.1v Corsair did only 479 Mhz @ 4-4-4-12 while Kingston did 533 Mhz. fyi 533 MHz is 2 x 266 MHz which is 2 x the SPD of the memory and that without any heatspreader or cooling system. Kingston KVR results: :crying: the 200 € Dominator GT kit I bought is smashed by Value Memory I found at the dump Quote
Eeky NoX Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Maybe golden ones ? not sure another kit could do it... nice demo btw Quote
TaPaKaH Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 2Gb D9GMH modules don't exist (in non-ECC variant), that's why value RAM clocks better with 4-4-4 Quote
Christian Ney Posted May 2, 2011 Author Posted May 2, 2011 (edited) hum true the OCZ Reaper aren't with D9GMH, I found D9GMH on i4memory. According to OCZ there is 89 % being Elpida And I am quite sure the Dominator GT aren't D9 too but according to Corsair's Ram Guy yes... And with my skill on removing memory HeatSpreader I will not try to check the IC EDIT: I spammed OCZ, Kingston and Corsair on the Forum and by technical support to know the IC used, Wait&See Edited May 2, 2011 by Christian Ney Quote
Christian Ney Posted May 2, 2011 Author Posted May 2, 2011 ehr... Unfortunately impossible to choose lower timings with X48 chipset. Kingston ValueRam Memory:eek: No I am not being paid by Kingston Still no heatspreader, no cooling and 2.6v Quote
Christian Ney Posted May 2, 2011 Author Posted May 2, 2011 (edited) 3 tRAS from the BIOS (it's the min) then 1 tRAS using memset EDIT: OCZ Reaper Results: Not as bad Edited May 2, 2011 by Christian Ney Quote
Crew Antinomy Posted May 2, 2011 Crew Posted May 2, 2011 There's no problem to set Tras=1 but no advantage either Nice result! Quote
Christian Ney Posted May 2, 2011 Author Posted May 2, 2011 Kingston HyperX: And I kept the best for the end, GSKill HZ. But for today it's over results will be available tomorrow.... I hope Quote
Crew Don_Dan Posted May 2, 2011 Crew Posted May 2, 2011 No way those Dominator GT are D9GMH, maybe another sort of D9, but probably they are ProMOS or PSC. That's why the Kingston value RAM is performing better, it's only about the chips. Also, 1M is a pretty meaningless memory test. Sorry. Can you try the lowest voltage you need for 32M at 400 3-3-3-9, 500 4-4-4-12 and 600 5-5-5-15 with the HZ? Quote
Christian Ney Posted May 2, 2011 Author Posted May 2, 2011 (edited) In fact I chose 1M that is around 16-20s long to have ~stable freq for superpi 1M oc or pifast. I dont think all people are running 32M with same 1M's freq and timings. Here its not about H24 freq and timings. Here its about to sort memory chips/kit if they are bad for 1M there will be bad too for 32M. Yes I can do the lowest voltage need for 32M with the HZ. EDIT: Who want the Dominator GT btw ? Or I will bury them next to the P4C800-E Deluxe, maybe next year I will have a mother nature's computer -.- Edited May 3, 2011 by Christian Ney Quote
Christian Ney Posted May 3, 2011 Author Posted May 3, 2011 (edited) Can you try the lowest voltage you need for 32M at 400 3-3-3-9, 500 4-4-4-12 and 600 5-5-5-15 with the HZ? 400 MHz 3-3-3-9 need 2.04v 500 MHz 4-4-4-12 need 2.06v 600 5-5-5-15, Impossible with the HZ to set timing >= 5 But they run SuperPi 32M @ 630 MHz 4-4-4-4 and need 2.66v EDIT: Here is 593 MHz 4-4-4-5 with 2.6v Edited May 3, 2011 by Christian Ney Quote
Christian Ney Posted May 3, 2011 Author Posted May 3, 2011 (edited) Do you know if it's the X48 limit or it's impossible to set CAS2 for DDR2 or it's Asus' BIOS ? Cause CAS2 is not available on the bios and with memset too Edited May 3, 2011 by Christian Ney Quote
Hyperhorn Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 To my knowledge tCAS 3 is the lower limit of the DDR2 specification, so you will not find any mainboard to run tCAS 2. Btw for comparison numbers feel free to have a look at the RAM oc list @ PCGHX: http://extreme.pcgameshardware.de/overclocking-mainboards-und-speicher/15996-high-score-liste-maximaler-ram-takt-nach-cas-latenz-geordnet.html#post127051 Quote
Christian Ney Posted May 3, 2011 Author Posted May 3, 2011 Nice thx for the link. Yep I have to test DDR1 too. I just managed to find and buy on ebay: OCZ Gold GX PC3500 2-2-2-5 (BH-5) Corsair Platinum XNS3200 2-2-2-5 (BH-5) G.Skill LA PC3200 2-2-2-5 PC4800 3-4-4-8 (TCCD) A-Data Vitesta DDR 566 (TCCD) Quote
