General hardware discussion

  1. Started by K404,

This is happening with 3DM05 + 06. I've tried both the individual patch and the full combined installer and I get the same every time. IIRC, its happening with nV as well as ATI. Errr....this happening to anyone else? Cheers! K

  3. be quiet! has made 2 revisions out of its own product line for the past 6 months, respectively upgrading Straight Power Series into “Deluxe” version (coded as E6/non CM), and upgrading Straight Power Series recently into CM version (coded as E7). Therefore, you’ll find E6 and E7 versions of Straight Power series on the market. The major difference between these two versions is whether it has CM or not. be quiet! Straight Power E7 CM (Cable Management) has 3 wattages for you to choose from, 480, 580 and 680W. This wattage range covers the wattage commonly required by most of the users. In addition, all of them are 80Plus Bronze certified. The efficien…

  5. Since AMD 45nm CPU was more popular in 2009, AMD is more aggressive in CPU, Chipset and VGA products this year. You can see AMD launched more new product lines to ramp up their market share. In VGA, ATI has been in market for long time and good market share. For CPU, it cannot implement 45nm for long time. It caused CPU power consumption, temperature and clock is in bad performance. These factors make AMD CPU was failed in 2008. Finally, they only could drop price to maintain the CPU market share. However, AMD 45nm production technology was more stable in 2009, they started to launch more CPU SKUs. Phenom II X4/Athlon II product lines are defined by 2~4 CPU c…

Hi, I know that unlocking, for example, a dual core into a quad core is allowed, so long as it's submitted in the original category, right? What about making a quad core appear as a dual core processor? Is that allowed? Would it have to be submitted in the quad core or dual core category (if it was allowed?)

GT1-GT3 are avarage, even below (should be in 59K range). GT4 is double form any other G92 submission. I guess it is a driver bug....

  10. Kinda looking forward to this CPU. Launch price is below €300 and rumours go that it's clocking as well as Deneb, so 6.5GHz 3D should be doable I guess. If it does ... it'll beat most €1000 retail Gulftowns

  11. It has been more then a month since my colleague went into his cave again, dragging a bag filled with the best air coolers. Determined to find out the ultimate truth, he spent hours, days and weeks of testing, pitting the four mega-coolers against each-other. Thermalright VenomousX and Cogage Arrow meet the ultimate air-cooling monsters, Prolimatech Megahalems and Noctua NH-D14. And much to our suprise, they keep their heads up!!! Four TDP's, seven fan speeds, fanless testing, extreme TDP/CFM testing, TIM print analysis, you know the drill. It is all there. Thermalright, Prolimatech and Noctua - Clash of the titans TESTBED * CPU – Intel core …

  12. Im not a whiner and im not against ES chips, I wish i was lucky enough to get them so let me get that out there first but come on now, when ES chips on average range 500mhz (i5 perfect example) or so above retail when is it too much? PS I know not every ES is a stong clocker either but every single new intel CPU i670,i660,i661 (we wont count 980x as its not public retail yet) the top ten results are the ES chips that are godlike, every work record as well. How do you compete with that being someone that pays for my own goods? Honestly not being cocky I have as much skill clocking as the next day, I spring for ln2 gear but all the cold and tweaking in the world wouldnt get…

  13. Over these several years, seem in my impression that seldom having products of ITX specification appeared on the general consumer market. The only more sources of ITX product information are probably all from the industrial market or other special use. But this kind of market situation with ATX/Micro-ATX, has begun to have many changes in the past two years More and more users begin to be interested in the small-scale computer, and can be found out a clue too; more and more Micro-ATX products existed in the current market. A lot of users hope the volume of computer can be smaller and smaller to avoid waste on a limited space; in addition, people are aware of …

  14. Such processor does not exist. This is Phenom II X2 with unlocked third core. 6 Mb of L3 cache on CPU-Z screenshot. And I think that this :http://hwbot.org/hardware/processor/athlon_ii_x3_450 should be deleted The same situation with this processor http://hwbot.org/hardware/processor/athlon_ii_x3_445

  15. Every year I always spend some time to write an article about mainstream PC platform recommendation for choosing the high C/P value mainstream products. Users can pay less get more performance products. AMD stuck in 65nm for couple year and not much progress. It caused two main weaknesses for Phenom X4 CPU, high power consumption and over heat. That’s why I didn’t write too many reviews with AMD platform. Since 2009, AMD launched 45nm CPU and still keep in parity. After then, AMD announced a series X2/X3/X4 CPU, and also can enable cores and L3 cache. It makes AMD ramp up the market share in 2nd half 2009. Of course, the parity motherboard is also the key fact…

I thought the decision was that these won't count until they are released. Are they released and I just don't know how to buy one? If you know where to get one PM me. Thanks, steponz

  19. Past few years, power supply products had big change. Users can see more and more power supply brands in the market and spec is going higher and higher. Few years ago, the manufacturers started to promote APFC and after then the high end power supply uses modulized design. These two years, power saving becomes the power supply new spec. 80 Plus is the most popular one to count power efficiency of power supply. CORSAIR is long history memory brand. His DRAM product has very good reputation in the market. Even though CORSAIR just enters power supply market for few years, its products are good quality and stability. COASAIR divides his power supply into 3 series. …

  22. Intel officially launched new Clarkdale platform on 8th Jan. According to Intel UMA chipset, the 3D performance was falling behind AMD. Even Intel last generation G45 chipset, the 3D performance still cannot compete with his competitor. As Clarkdale platform launched, Intel royalty customers will look forward it. All users can find the price in internet and the Clarkdale platform price is still high now. Clarkdale structure is different with the chipset controller stage. Intel builds in GPU into CPU this time. It lets users misunderstand the 3D performance will be improved dramatically. Even some of my friends also think in this way. Actually, my last Core i5 66…
