  1. Here's a thought. Don't get the same freaking hardware and let members that have a good card or are good at something in particular go after a class. Hey your benching 8800GTS 640, you handle that i will tackle 8800GT 512, and this guy can tackle the 7900GT, while this other guys handles 5850.......... I see it all cheaper in long run when same team members dont have to all bench the same damn vga or a crappy VGA when another member has a better one.
  2. This. Bottom line HW sharing benefitting teams is at an end, and tbh this it where it effects teams the most. People can all deny the fact that it happens but it's real it happens. Doing it a a user level due to the HW points cap is useless except for HW master rankings.......so there is no need to attempt to block it at a user level. The HW point cap total of a user already "Blocks" this. As far as why are you still benching HW with a hwpoint cap........well there's still this category called HWmasters league.........where your points still count, oh and this little tiny other reason why people bench "becasue they freaking enjoy it for fun", if your only benching for points then you joined this hobby for wrong reasons. Take for instance one of our own member sharing a score in a high profile event which not only was dealt with swiftly by hwbot and FM but also internally in team with a reminder that any score sharing will result in an ejection from team. I know XS for one does not do this other than according to rules ( and no we don't exploit and hit grey area ) and we are preety transparrent in the fact that all teams have private non existent sections, ours just by chance is available for specific HW bot staff to see we have nothing to hide. For that matter I chat with massman on a regular basis and run anything by him that I think might be questionable such as a recent conversation where i have multiple gulftowns that have not been benched in 2d becasue i have a better chip that i use personaly for 2d......the concensus is still it would raise eyebrows so there will be no results coming from the chips from any members in 2d even though the chips suck.......... How many can say that?
  3. So your all for removing A: skill, and B: luck from overclocking by buying known good hardware possibly modded. Whats the fun in that? Not sure if you have even looked lately........XS is about 30 actual guys benching and about 300 that joined way back when the team had heavy hitters because the team was tops........some are no longer around and or never got the memo that the heavy hitters left Maybe some of you don't see this the way I do but I think it can make the competition between teams far more interesting and much closer....... Teams with 20 guys can now be competitive with teams of 300.........teams with very little funds wise can now compete with teams with more money than they know what to do with. Now when you bench a Card or CPU you really truly are benching for your team. When a team can not afford to buy a retarded amount of multiple cards and or multiple CPU's the way it currently is they have no chance.....why bother competing if you know you won't get ahead. If any thing this makes it cheaper for teams as a whole to compete, I fail to see how that helps manufacturers.........when teams as a whole don't need to buy say 20 GTX 480's just to stay in top ranks
  4. To my knowledge this is grey area. Me and my whole team could pitch in on something and then sell to each other for a dollar. You can call it selling hardware if you want but it's nothing more than an exploit of the rules. It's still worth points to the user just not worth points to the TEAMS total. The above post is exactly why this needs to be enforced, I have some preety damn good cpu's I'm gonna pass err I mean sell them to team mates so we can dominate 1st through 10th in each category......... Picture getting clearer now?
  5. Totally agree its radical, I also admit I do not like all the changes but on the same token while some of these changes may not benefit me personally, I'm guessing they will benefit the majority.
  6. CPU sharing for 2d is really a non issue. Vga sharing is more so especially in the popular rankings. Think about it, If someone shares a cpu, voltage required for XX clocks per bench app, and certain attributes are easy to spot. None of that can be applied to VGA's. Lower cpu clocks Drop vga clocks 25mhz on this and raise 25mhz on that change background, try and prove someone did that. Do that 5 times and bang your team just got 100 points for one benchmark in a popular card class. Multiply that by 5 more 3d benchmark apps. food for thought
  7. It's very simple sharing vga's in a team is pointless now. Teams with money to afford to buy countless vga's = pointless for team now. It levels the playing field for those teams not so fortunate hardware wise to have 20 vidcards in the same category if it's really indeed 20 diff cards or the need to have a large amount of benchers and constantly be recruiting....., encourages teams to bench as whoa hold on for this one "AS A TEAM" as in together at the same location. It's quite obvious as the way things are currently that a team with maybe 10-15 active benchers has no chance against teams with 50 active benchers. Geez this team has top ranks, this one doesn't which team shall i join? It's quite obvious not many will go to a losing team. OLD saying Gangs are powerfull in numbers, take the numbers away and your left with a couple of punks with no spines. @ k404 it doesn't seem to effect user points so users can still bench........and with the ambient above 0c category well you don't even see how its implemented yet...... If you really think hardware sharing is not going on, well you need to open your eyes One sign will be team's upset over this, however now that I just explained that no one will be quite so quick to condemn at least that part of the revision for fear of looking guilty.
  8. Looks very interesting
  9. whoa I'm no PRO especially in 32m. If I was, I would not have gotten spanked by youngpro by 12 secs at same clocks Just here to have fun. Off topic, indy's were always to heavy, I have my self swapped to ventures, lighter weight and they are durable. I'm gonna get vince back on a board one of these events to. Just need to remember to drag my deck along with me.
  10. Yah the c2 550 revs were BE though so i guess they just consilidated, working with locked parts is a tad trickier Back then when i submitted there was only 1 category for 550.
  11. I tried, that's all you can do. I was pushing 1250+ core so it was to be expected, would have been a nice score to with over 1250 fps in nature. Can't always have a good session, just need to put it behind you and move on to the next thing.
  12. Mine had reboot loops issues after doing mod but it never saw cold, it eventually just stopped working while pretesting on air with a 650. It just loops now. My bath and bake seemed to help none at all even after all mods removed. You win some and lose some, thats the name of the game. O well time to see if i can pull a results out my ass in the AMD 01 challenge with almost no pretesting done.
  13. My board is in oven now after a 3 day acetone bath, prays.
  14. My boards acting retarded atm ever since i stuck a 650 in, praying to OC gods and giving acetone bath for the time being.
  15. I have plenty of hypers here, and after we are done we can go to skatepark, see if i can crack a few more ribs and shatter a wrist perfecting my 180 ollie to 50/50 grind on the bench to ollie 180, that is if they fixed the bench since my ribs broke it.
  16. Yah it's my frequent flyer price. Comes with time. Took me a year of non stop benching to get that price, I use to pay what you pay.
  17. think sams runs were suspect for speeds, is the time possible sure, at that uncore? I doubt it. msimax live in ummmm the city? I forget where to be truthfull even though I have been there in person. Ln2 situation is rental dewar is 50c a day and cost me with tax like 36 to fill one ( 30L ), my dewar is in shipping atm. Has to be filled by 12 noon saturday or your bumming.
  18. Best to bring one guy or find a way to tag along with msimax if he's coming. Black dudes are cool, I'm a minority here, most of my buds are black.
  19. reviews and overclocking. My board is 95% waterproof now + modded and ready to rip but i have 2 sets of ram that quakecon put me behind on so thats prioity 1 atm, doesn't mean someone can't bench on one of the stations while i work though.
  20. hmmm 2:12 works fine for me to. no waza. George your problem is QPI, I ran higher, it was slower. Sometimes less is more.
  21. Cookie, Can you explain the difference or the benefits of the CBB mod you posted versus just changing the resistance to 0K on this resistor?
  22. hmm I wouldn't go that far but the one survivor I have left is obviously not TWKR 42.
  23. yep looks like sub 8:50's possible. Nice run pro.
  24. Sure theres a number of things you can do....remove resistor and connect the 2 points with solder. bridge the top of the resistor with solder. Last you can solder a wire in on each side of resistor and use a jumper pin on a fan header from a old mobo. Basically you want 0K reading at that res. IIRC its like .75X k ohms nominally.
