I do like this, for exact the reason you gave, but I see it as a separation without the existing leaderboard. It is GLOBAL because it is just that Silly expensive stuff still wins, but maybe more limelight for the midrange... the stuff that actually sells in volume

The cheapest chip sells first There would still be a (deserved!) premium, but either sellers compete on price, or agree between themselves to keep prices at point X +- a few %.

Am I being thick or too simplistic? Why does any of that matter? It's a legit card, available to anyone with the money. Same as any other previous card. Marketing doesn't factor into my considerations as to whether something is worthy or not

This kind of grouping only works in hindsight or until there is a change in GPU architecture. Global is no longer global. Why was nothing reallllly said during the reign of previous Titans? Why now, after a few weeks and results from a few benchers on air/water?

IMO, that would be too many rankings/leaderboards and too many sets of "global" points I can get onboard with bringing more GPUs into relevance, no doubt with the extra necessity of e-Power etc for some/most.

Not everyone can do that either. Need a reliable path for sell binning rejects, else the system grinds to a halt. Also..... still no guarantees of a good chip.

So... instead of number of GPUs being the key to global GPU-scores, it would be sub-divided by some ROP/SP count? It brings more cards into play, but I don't think it solves the problem. Best scores in a class/sub-division might be two GPUs under LN2. That's a hard sell.

If there is a problem that comes down to a hardware category or class...... exclude it from the rankings? What is it that people REALLY object to? The fact that it doesn't OC better under LN2?

Don't tell people stuff, you're taking all the fun out of it! Also.... you're bursting bubbles. Buzz Killington. If bencher X has really crappy luck in binning, or can only afford 1 of something (ie.... most of us) then buying binned is still coming out ahead. As long as they like the price and it does what the seller says it can do, everyone wins. It's a perfect situation in life, those are rare. Don't spoil it!

Oh! I did wonder if that's what you were getting at. Long-standing, unspoken rule of OC.... no-one sells their best parts unless the value is about to swandive. Everything I see in the FS section on here.... my default opinion is "that's a reject."

How much am *I* contributing to my team? The user must enjoy the activity enough to want to help a team with the collective goal of the activity.

OC and benching is, first and foremost, a selfish activity. What score will *I* get? What rankings will *I* get after *I* run these benchmarks? Can *I* beat the score from the other guy? How much fun am *I* having? If a brand new part doesn't perform a lot better than the part its replacing, THEN there's a problem. Given how much it costs, I think Titan XP is barely good enough

But that's the point of the next-gen part Maybe it feels worse this time around because the last few series of cards have been incremental. G80 spanked G71 G92 equalled or beat G92 with much lower costs GT200 spanked G92 Fermi spanked GT200 I don't know so much about ATI/AMD.... HD2 was horrible, HD3 was much better, HD4 was great, AMD 5-series was glorious.

I've not benched for over 2 years. Performance is probably not found....
