[GUIDE] Skylake Memory Timings on Asus Motherboards !
sabishiihito replied to Alex@ro's topic in Memory Heaven (air/extreme)
Used this guide to do some tweaking on M8E with 4x4GB TridentZ 3200C16 E-die...definite improvement over what I got from before, though I'm not sure how much had to do with the tertiary timing changes, or just different mobo. Old results on M8G: New results on M8E using tweaks from OP: -
I'll be glad when HOT is over so people will stop hiding tertiary timings :-/

I got the same time as you (6min 40sec) on XP with 4x4GB 1800C11, though my tRCD/tRP was 18 and not 17 as you have here. -

Playing with some interesting low cost RAM. -
Tested those same 2200C7 Pi sticks with different CPU (G3258). Looks like the IMC is stronger here than on the 4790K as I could tighten the 3rds down. no wazza wazza

I grabbed a Hero Saturday and the thing has been a pain, lots of code 41 and 55 with various BIOS versions even on XMP settings. Slots A2 and B2 seem to be the culprits, which kills any 4 DIMM clocking (which was what I got it for in the first place vs the Asrock Formula). -
Cheap Patriot Viper 4 DDR4-3400 2x4GB not too bad. This is the 3733 Tight preset with the timings changed from 16-19 to 15-18. VDIMM set 1.61v BIOS = 1.65V real.

Testing some crappy 2200C7 Pi sticks here (1.95v for 2666C8??), fortunately they were dirt cheap.
-
Really? That just seems...odd. I mean, Corsair has had kits spec'd for 2666 15-17-17 1.2v since the X99 launch and they weren't anything special, and G.Skill has had kits with timings 15-15-15 as well. Is Kingston doing some kind of special binning?

FS: BNIB G.Skill TRIDENTX F3-2400C9Q-16GTXD DDR3 RAM (Samsung D-die)
sabishiihito replied to oc_ninja's topic in Sold
Seems no one wants Samsung D-die (or DDR3 in general) anymore, no hits for my kit either -
Price drops.
-
I think it is not uncommon for kits that were released for X99 to need more volts on Z170. Why that is however is a different question.

Exactly, that's where I set it. Task Manager seems to report 600MB correctly but CPU-Z still shows 8GB. I can assume it's just a CPU-Z issue then.

Testing MFR using tips from the thread about the ROG boards and RTL/IOL optimization. 3200C11 45/46/2/2 passed 32M. 3333C12 is also done.

Getting rid of a lot of mid to high end kits I have lying around. All prices in USD, shipping included. Shipping to US48 only. PayPal only. 1. G.Skill Ripjaws Z 4x4GB DDR3-2400C9 Samsung HYK0-based kit. Binned the sticks individually for 2800C9 and they range from 1.95v to 2.10v (I put a piece of tape on each stick with the voltage needed written on it). $150 shipped. 2. G.Skill Ripjaws 4 4x4GB DDR4-3300C16 Hynix-MFR based kit, bought these when I went crazy binning for 3200C11. One stick can boot 3200C11 1.85v but not stable enough to bench. Strong retail sticks otherwise. These are no longer in production. $375 shipped. 3. Kingston HyperX Predator 4x4GB DDR4-2666C13 (three kits) More MFR-based DDR4 kits I bought binning for 3200C11. None could do that high but all could do 3200C12 1.7~1.75v. $125 shipped each. 4. Corsair Dominator Platinum 4x4GB DDR4-3000C14 Last MFR-based kit. I bought one kit of these and found two sticks could bench 3200C11 so I bought this kit hoping for two more sticks but only one in this set can boot 3200C11 and isn't stable enough to bench. Other than that, like the 3300 Ripjaws, these are very strong retail sticks. $325 shipped.

Gigabyte X99 SOC Force Champion -DDR4
sabishiihito replied to a topic in Memory Heaven (air/extreme)
I guess this board is just a lot more picky about the sticks, couldn't get anywhere with the HyperX 2666C13 but the Dominator 3000C14 worked. They actually passed with 1.60v set but wasn't stable enough to take a screenshot.
