All my AMD cards do the same, use Catalyst 16 drivers. My cards do seem faster on the newer drivers if not overclocking though.

Won't let me submit with 3 cores it keeps reverting back to 2.

Even though it's non BE AMD overdrive let me up the multiplier long enough to use CPU-Z before crashing.

Not actually being used in country cup as I just hit participate without thinking. Have replaced the score with a Core i3 submission.

Should go well with a delid and some LN2

Go into advanced settings and set it to run 8 threads.

You got some nice pics of my Sabretooth 990FX, the LN2 didn't hurt it or the FX 6300 which was still clocking as well as ever the other night when I was doing some Fallout 4 testing. It just beats a quad core Ryzen 3 (oc'd to 3.95ghz with 2933mhz mem) on that game. Still my favourite CPU & board combo. Was a great weekend, thanks a lot..

Excellent benchmark for getting a good base overclock that works almost everywhere. I've even used my X265 settings for game testing to good effect.

I couldn't do overclocking as a job, it would do my sweed in after a few days. I personally like to get the most performance for the least amount of dollar with everything which is how I discovered overclocking. Being a highly ranked overclocker proves in a round about way that you can build a computer that is faster than everyone elses because you know how to get the best out of the hardware. A typical PC at stock settings is garbage, a mediocre PC well set up can become better than the sum of it's parts. I've stepped my game up a bit lately because I was getting flamed on YouTube for slating the Ryzen 7 when it came out (I wasn't impressed with mine), so I've bought a load of hardware to test and make sure I wasn't wrong. You could become a pro hardware reviewer but then you will have to be familiar with current games and be able to look at things from the points of veiw of a variety of people. Ryzen for example performs pretty well out of the box but if you put it against a properly overclock FX CPU for me AMD's progress is less than impressive over the past half a decade mainly because the Ryzen doesn't gain that much overclocked due to the limited head room. Most reviewers don't know how to overclock properly so the results show the lesser Ryzen CPU's in a better light. They also have a habit of not running game tests in the most demanding scenarios, Fallout 4 for instance needs to be played around the Financial District of Boston to really hammer the frame rates down and test for smoothness. Memory and north bridge settings make a masive difference to gameplay so overclocking skills have real world use. My favourite benchmark at the minute is UserBench as it takes into account background resources meaning that optimising the OS isn't too important, plus the results really do seem to translate well into what you can expect in real world use, in gaming anyway. Also it doesn't take half an hour to run like PCmark and the results page is more modern and detailed.

Isn't cheating at the top level pretty pointless?? I thought the ultimate overclocking aim is to be able to win live competitions with binned parts and referees etc, if you can't do well on the benches for real surely you would come unstuck at a contest. My ultimate aim one day is to be good enough to overclock head to head. I've got some impressive section times on Strava (cycling app) where I've beaten a few well known local riders but they mean nothing on race day when you are all riding in the same conditions, then I'm just another rider in the mid field. I'm guessing the same would be true in a live overclocking competition where everyone had the same parts but I can dream. I've been benching X265 since it first came out as I find it useful for establishing a good base overclock which will work for nearly all of the benchmarks if you just want to push out a hat full of reasonable scores for a particular CPU. Not done it on LN2 yet, might give it a go this weekend even if there aren't any points up for grabs. I was hoping to see $@39@ turn elite and entering some live events, I'd like to think he is still a talented overclocker and will come back after his ban and follow the rules. Would be as good a time as any to change his name.

Could have made do with the stock cooler and paste for a 50mhz boost on the turbo clock.

You need to bench the hell out of this CPU and get some decent global points. There is someone selling the Sempron 145 on ebay for under a tenner which will bench even better.

My take on the whole "chilled" argument is to do with practicality, cost and reliability of parts. Anyone in the enthusiast league can run an extension lead outside and bench in the cold, I used to so I think it is fair as anyone can do it. If it was actually freezing I didn't because I don't like being cold. Also the gains in going outside weren't that great for the amount of effort, it won't make an average CPU a fast one. When you start playing with actual water chillers and peltiers things get more expensive and more complicated with more potential for damaging components but the potential gains are bigger so then I think it is fair to be in apprentice league. If you are going to the hassle of going outside and putting rads out the window it's only a matter of time before you will want to go more hardcore and move up anyway. The best overclockers will eventually always end up in the extreme league running the best hardware on LN2. The same as the best drivers eventually will always end up in formula one.

Is it my old Sempron unlocked? If so unlocked cpu's are never as good, re submit as a Sempron with 2 cores.

I thought Bristol Ridge needed Windows 7??

First ever bench on LN2 with a pot made by and sold to me by Lee Boulton after he let me demo it on this benchmark. No need to bother buying a KingPin pot now, this one is mint. Had to use the Sabertooth & FX6300 for my first LN2 bench as they are my favorite parts.

That is all it has, Ryzen bottlenecks this card worst than Haswell i5! As soon as I up the clocks at all frames drop massively. You will need to be able to run Ryzen at least 4ghz stable to get decent gaming performance. A cheap B350 board won't last long at that, this one is already getting flaky after a bit of benching.
