LGA2011 BIOS, facts, stats and list of mainboards
Massman replied to Massman's topic in Sandy Bridge-E / Ivy Bridge (X79) OC
Just got this interesting BIOS. It enables turbo upto 39x for all cores during multi-threaded applications on X79-UD3 - GIGABYTE GA-X79-UD3 --- F4j: download -
For those who were monitoring HWBOT development: http://bugs.hwbot.org/browse/HWBOT I've opened up the HWBOT project for public viewing again since the Country Cup limitations and stages are now known.

Update to TPP rankings: 0 - The concept of the Team League remains the same. 1 - We fixed the issue where uploading a new score could actually decrease your points, as described here, by limiting the amount of scores that receive global TPP to 1 (best of team). This is a similar implementation like the hardware TPP. 2 - We've separated the ranking weight calculation for global TPP and hardware TPP. This allows us to finetune each TPP class specifically and, as such, provide more correct scoring. 3 - We removed the requirement of having at least 10 competing teams before any TPP ranking generates points. Now every hardware TPP ranking will generate at least 5 points for #1; every global TPP ranking will generate 50p. 4 - The maximum points for global TPP is ~ 500p with 800 competing teams. For hardware TPP, the maximum is ~ 150p with 300 competing teams. 5 - The algoritm remains the same: GTTP + HTTP + UP/10. Or: sum of "global teampowerpoints" + "hardware teampowerpoints" + "user points divided by 10". In practical terms, this update should shift the Teams League more towards the hardware TPP rankings. Note, though, that scoring in the global TPP rankings is important with its minimum 50p for #1. I'll post a couple of point distribution screenshots to show the effect. Oh, right. Yes, we're really excited and happy with this finetuning.

Recalculation finished, here are the updated top-20 rankings.

Uploaded, thanks Stasio !! - GIGABYTE G1.Assassin 2 --- F5n: download - GIGABYTE GA-X79-UD3 --- F4l: download - GIGABYTE GA-X79-UD5 --- F4l: download - GIGABYTE GA-X79-UD7 --- F3k: download -
As we speak, we're re-calculating all the submissions on our test server with adjusted TPP algoritms. The updated algoritm has fixed the TPP Global bug and has some additional weight finetuning.

How to bin It seems that the SB-E has the exact same OC characteristics like the regular Sandy Bridge, including the infamous clock wall. It's not as easy to find the clock wall as with Sandy Bridge, but here's a guide that will be able to give you information on your sample's maximum overclock. Under discussion again ... I never thought of these walls as multi walls, but always as speed walls. I don't understand how people could be confused about it eiter ... it was quite clear that you could hit pretty much the same MHz (within 10Mhz ratio) with different multi/mp combinations. -

So, for a long time I wasn't interested in Sandy Bridge-E because it's basically the same architecture like Sandy Bridge and it has the same annoying overclocking problems. Just like with Sandy Bridge, you'll just have to test a lot of CPUs to find a good one (or be very lucky). Last night, I drove too Leeghoofd's place to have one quick test with the platform before it was launched so I would at least have some hands-on experience with it. It was quite a long bench session: from 8PM untill ~3AM ... but of course a lot of fun!! Setup: - Core i7 3960X (ES) - MSI GTX 580 Lightning (x5) - Sabertooth X79 - Dominator GTX8 - AX1200 PSU - Inflection Point CPU pot - Ryba Fat GPU pot OC Results: - CPU clock: 5320MHz - MEM clock: DDR3-2240 CL9-11-10 - VGA clock (3way): 910/1150 and 925/1150 - VGA clock (single): 1450/1200 Vantage and 1500/1200 3D11 - 3DMark Vantage - Performance: 44589 marks with GeForce GTX 580 [-155.0 degrees °C under load] at 1450/1200MHz - 3DMark11 - Performance score: 12034 marks with GeForce GTX 580 [-155.0 degrees °C under load] at 1500/1200MHz - 3DMark Vantage - Performance score: 62985 marks with 3x GeForce GTX 580 at 925/1200MHz - 3DMark11 - Performance score: 19094 marks with 3x GeForce GTX 580 at 910/1150MHz - 3DMark06 score: 40409 marks with 3x GeForce GTX 580 at 925/1200MHz Pictures: Conclusion: So, as expected, Sandy Bridge-E is nothing too special aside from the +5% we can easily get in benchmarks such as Vantage and 11. Aside from those two benchmarks, this chip isn't so interesting for overclockers and even with a gem Gulftown you can get close to the performance of an average Sandy Bridge-E. In Vantage, a 5300MHz Sandy Bridge-E will deliver similar performance like a 6000MHz Gulftown; if you're lucky and find a 5500+ chip, you're safe. Like I've told some people already: I hate the fact that I care so much about the +5% performance gain we can get by using Sandy Bridge-E. Fact is, however, that it's much easier to get a competitive score with this new chip than with the old one ... it's almost as easy like benching Sandy Bridge. Fyi, compare between 3x580 Vantage GT and SBE: - 62919 with 6000 i7 990X - 62958 with 5300 i7 3960X Maxed out GPU completely, need to find better CPU, should probably try the R4E, GTX8 needs to be clocked higher. We'll see.

No, because: - I don't have the background yet - I won't have the cards for much longer - The cards won't go on LN2 - I'm not allowed to compete anyway, i guess They are only considered integrated if the VGA is either inside the CPU or inside the chipset. Most laptop gpus are actually not integrated, I think. -
