Your wish is my command. So far, this is the info for the Grand Final. Only missing the team mates' names for the winners of the LOC contest and of course the winner of the hwbot final here. Oh, anyone gonna stay after the event a bit longer to sight-see? I'm planning too, would be cool to know who's leaving when exactly!

Hardware review whose awards are meaningless - part 2 KitGuru - http://www.kitguru.net Again pulling their latest reviews: Motherboards: - M4A88T-M (8.5/10, worth buying) - Sapphire Pure Platinum A75 (8.5/10, worth buying) - ASRock Fatal1ty Z68 Professional Series Gen 3 (9/10, must have) - Gigabyte 990FXA-UD7 (9/10, must have) - Crosshair V Formula (9/10, must have) - Asus Maximus IV Gene-Z motherboard (9/10, must have) - Z68X-UD7-B3 (9/10, must have) Graphics cards: - Sapphire HD 6950 Toxic Edition (?/10, must have) - XFX HD6870 Black Edition Crossfire (9/10, must have) - HIS HD6970 IceQ Mix Edition (8/10, worth buying) - VTX3D HD6870 X2 (8/10, worth buying) - Asus Matrix Platinum GTX580 (9/10, must have) Processors: - AMD Vision A8-3850 APU (9,5/10, must have) Memory: - G.Skill 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz RipjawsX (9/10, must have) - G.Skill Sniper DDR3 (8,5/10, worth buying) - Kingston HyperX T1 12GB (9/10, must have) - Kingston HyperX T1 12GB (9/10, must have) Power Supplies: - LEPA B850W Power Supply Review (9/10, must have) - Cougar GX 1050W power supply (8/10, worth buying) - Be Quiet! Power Pro BQT P9 550W (8/10, worth buying) - Corsair CX430 V2 (9/10, must have) - Strider Plus 1000W (9/10, must have) Conclusion: So, if I have a bit of spare money and I want to find a piece of hardware that would be a nice addition to my system, pretty muh all reviewed gear is worth buying. Moreover, no less than 15 hardware products are 'must have'! On the plus side: at least the awards are given on a consistent basis. Consistently meaningless.

The official HWBOT OC Challenge August 2011 thread.
Massman replied to Luebke's topic in HWBOT Competitions
No checkboxes, dude. Our system is far more complex than that . Okay, problem is fixed. For some reason, the 1700+ tbred did not have the right socket in the database. I changed it now -
so I can close the thread?

The #-field next to the CPU model is the amount of sockets. For any single X6 CPU, you just have to select the correct CPU model in the model specification field and leave the dropdown box to 1. -

Oh right, one more thing. One or two of the cards had the BIOS switch locked in on CBB fix, meaning the actual clocks were lower than the advertised clocks. So, if you buy this card, you might just want to check if it's booting from the right BIOS. -

#reserved lol -
Heyo, So, as you all know, this weekend there's the third edition of Tones OC Academy in Utrecht, Holland. This time, we'll be cooperating with MSI. Of course, we have to prepare ourselves and check that all the hardware that the students will be using is actually functioning properly, so we spend some time figuring out if that was indeed the case. As you already know, there will be 20 lightnings at the disposal of our students. So ... let's test them on stock air cooling and find out the average capabilities of this graphics card! Since these cards are totally, totally retail, I figured it should be quite interesting to see what these cards are worth when they are not pre-tested and then sent to award-throwing media Pictures (quite of lot of these cards had a Japanese support sticker on them. Sorry Team Katana!) Results - benchmark test: GT4 3DM11 - all mem results are artifact free - only 10 minutes per card, so not that extensive OC Since we only used one subtest of 3DM11 for the testing, it's quite possible that the actual maximum of these cards is a tad lower when running the full run. Perhaps someone at home can test the difference between GT4 stable clocks and full run stable clocks on stock air?

Urgh, ugly engine talk. Integrated = non-discrete. It can be intergrated in the chipset or in the cpu. -

What kind of error ? -
Would people who want to complain about the startup cap please use correct analogies? Limiting MHz or limiting 'out of reach' scores are totally wrong ...
-
Short comment on the cap: it was 50/50 on keeping it or not. Either way would've made some people unhappy. So, as the cap has pretty much been with PCMark05 since forever, I decided to keep it. It's a part of what defines PCMark05 as benchmark.

You can tweak the subtest app all you want (OS/driver/mouse-moving). You can't change that subtest app. Has Transparent Windows -ever- been a problem? No, it hasn't. It was just something someone figured out (mouse-moving) and others didn't.
-
What ?! Impossible !!
-
Apps cannot be changed; changing the app's settings is allowed. (I'll add that to the rules as well)
-
Yes. I'll add it to our backlog, but can't promise it will be done this month.
