The official GIGABYTE H55/H57 IGP OC Challenge thread.
Massman replied to Xtreme_Solid's topic in HWBOT Competitions
I'm sure that if this error would've been found earlier on, the benchmark would've been different. But then again, this has never been reported before ... Scoring 40% higher due to a severly impropper rendered benchmark is bugged for sure. -
MSI R5870 Lightning UnOverclockable through Afterburner??
Massman replied to steponz's topic in General overclocking
Most of the cards, I hear, don't do that great on air cooling. Have you tried adding some specers between the back of the PCB and the screws holding the heatsink? What are the symptoms of the 'bad overclock'? -
MSI R5870 Lightning UnOverclockable through Afterburner??
Massman replied to steponz's topic in General overclocking
THIS IS ON YOUR OWN RISK!! If you still have problems, try doing the following: - Get the latest Afterburner software (1.51) - Download the latest bios (in attachment) Flash the bios to the card using Atiflash (attachment): - Make bootable USB - Put all files on the USB (atiflash + rename bios file to tv210ms.sb) - Boot with ... bootable USB - use command: "Atiflash -p -f 0 tv210ms.sb" - reboot Unlock the voltage bar in Afterburner going to 'settings'. Exit AB, then open again ... now it should work perfectly. -
Yes it's fair to enter the 4xCPU category with a native quadcore: http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Xeon/Intel-Xeon%20X5667%20-%20AT80614005154AB.html No you can't down'core' your 975 to enter in all categories - that would render splitting up the categories completely pointless.

Nice work! For us, the easiest is indeed attaching the file to the post so that we can upload it completely to the server.
-
It's only good for multi-threaded benchmarks: 06 and V. There are more benchmarks where it doesn't kill, though. I think the points algorithm is balanced enough not to require being in the top-3 to get some points.

Scores being held up on Retail 980x??
Massman replied to Q56_Monster's topic in Submission & member moderation
Might have been a server hickup. Or more likely: RichBa5tard adding fixes to the server. The points are awarded even without us having a look at them. Would be rather crazy to check them all before giving points with 500 new scores every day, hehe. At the moment, both retail and ES are getting points. Also for the 980X. -
The biggest translation file has translated completely, the REV3.5 file hasn't been started yet. Please inform us if some sentences are incorrectly translated or if you have a better translation than the current version. SMALL GUIDE In attachment you can find the strings that need to be translated. The objective is to translate the sentences after the string=, for instance: this_is.an.example.title=To je primer Also note: - if 'title' is in the string, it means that the first letter must be a capital letter - text like {0} and {1} is used when the sentence has a variable in it, for instance team name or amount of points Try to be as close to the english message as possible, however don't be scared to change the sentence to make it sound/look better. What's important is that people who don't know English can also understand HWBOT .

Excellent, Massman, you forgot to attach the files ...

As some of you have noticed, we have implented the HWBOT internationalization features this morning. This means that, if you have selected a non-English language in your profile AND the translation is available, you will enjoy the wonders of the HWBOT site in your native language. Now, for the translations we hope that people from the community are interested in doing the work. This because a lot of the keywords are very community-specific and it would take months to explain this to a 'normal' (you can't be normal if you don't know OC!) person. So, in attachment you can find the translation files. There are two files: one gigantic and a small one. The giga-file is the one with all the translations prior to the Rev3.5 release, the small file is the one post the Rev3.5 release. So, if you interested in translating HWBOT, just open the files and start translating. If you have done a part, just copy/paste it in the forum thread that corresponds with your language (create a new one if it doesn't exist yet). If you have seen mistakes, let us know the correction and we'll update it as soon as possible. I will attach the files of the languages that have already been translated (partially) in the first post of the forum thread as well. What's important is that people who don't know English can also understand HWBOT . update 31 March: I've uploaded new translations files, the content is the same but the character encoding is now properly UTF8. Please check the "on ascii check" line, the characters should display exactly the following in your editor: # on ascii check: ’ ©˙øµ˜µπ

Scores being held up on Retail 980x??
Massman replied to Q56_Monster's topic in Submission & member moderation
Why would it matter if it's retail or ES? And how would the engine know the difference? -

It's amazing that this hasn't been caught before! I suppose setting rules to define driver and OS are almost inevitable ... it's a pity though that more rules are needed to avoid this kind of problem. -

My article is build on the fact that no application is capable of reading the true frequency of the GMA HD ... Again, W1zzard of techpowerup claims it's possible to read out the frequencies. I can't say more than that, I don't make those apps. The states frequencies are probably following the formula from that article (which has been confirmed to be correct by Asus). You're trying to get to the bottom of what exactly? -

Yes, because that's what I do normally, right? Not explain, not elaborate, not discuss ... just say fck all and move on. Your assumption is "it hasn't been done before" and the conclusion "it's a glitch", I've just shown that your assumption is incorrect. As to your GPU-Z problem, I've figured this out a month and a half ago: http://www.madshrimps.be/?action=getarticle&articID=988 GPU-Z might get the frequencies right when you use 0.3.9, although I had major issues with the Gigabyte H55 at home (back then I was debugging with W1zzard on this tool). GPU-Z is mainly used to identify the right videocard. -

1300MHz Core frequency indicated here as well: http://hwbot.org/community/submission/951939_pcci2iminal_3dmark_vantage___performance_gma_hd_894_marks Do note: that run is an extremely bad one. The performance ~ 1150MHz core. Anyway, I guess I'm naive to think everyone will just go back to their benching rig? Well, I must say that there's no prize for best moaner. -

Obviously we had no idea about this kind of driver problem ... we did not test all driver/OS combinations. -

Drivers causing parts of the benchmark not to be rendered is not a 'normal driver'. We can debate semantics and philosophize about the meaning en effect of the word and concept of 'normal' all we want, in the end it's pretty clear that a driver causing your score to boost over 40% (with clear inaccurate rendering) is not meant to be part of an overclocking competition. 1995 driver in combination with Vista 32-bit is no longer allowed in the competition. The scores have been removed. Still have a fortnight to re-run using the non-bug drivers. At the moment we have to rely on the input of overclockers on these kinds of problems. We all know how things go at Futuremark and I don't think we like waiting six months for an approved HWBOT driver. -

No competition invites glitches, I'm just happy Tosun notified us that something bizar was going on. Can someone please confirm that the 1995 driver in combination with Vista 32-bit is buggy and produces out of the norm results?
