The official ASRock FM2 OC Competition thread.
Lucky_n00b replied to Lucky_n00b's topic in HWBOT Competitions
Dude, I'm not sure which one is harder, finding a golden A10-5800K, or actually finding the FM2A85X Xtreme6 motherboard in our country - the local distributor sucks! LOL :D -
So, just to clarify, to enter the Pro OC Cup, we have to find 2 more team-mate to form a group of 3, right? Does that team-mate have to be from Pro OC League, or can be anyone? Thanks

For the 3DMarkVantage stage, it probably is..... but for the CPU-Z stage, maybe there will be 5400K / 5600K strong enough to compete with 5800k in raw frequency? (I never tried the 5600k and/or 5400k so I don't know about this one) Speaking of which, the ASRock A85 board turned to be out of stock , had to wait until the local distributor have it in their stock again , argh... (T_T) -
Very Interesting Would love to see more categories to fight such as BCLK , Mem. Clock & other 3DMark though, since the past 3 FM2 competition(ECS,GBT and MSI) already have the same 'targets' (CPU-Z n 3DVantage). Oh well, hitting the IT Mall tomorrow , hopefully the board is available :) Cheers,

Agree 100% with this one. For me I don't have a problem with the competition timeframe, but if the announcement can be done at least 1 or 1.5 months prior to the competition, then we have more time to search for it, especially for the "WTF hardware" stages And if I can suggest something more, maybe it's better to keep the 'legacy' hardware on the Team Cup and do some 'newer' hardware on the Country Cup, so hardware availability is better for some countries, and more can join (or maybe if the new hardware is quite popular, then maybe some vendor will be interested in giving some sponsorship or some prizes ) Cheers, -

Whew, our session is finally done, this conclude our a week-long office sleepover for country cup :D - Disastrous result for the last 2 stages btw LOL nvantage stage - Xpower II failed to work , had to change setup with the only X79 we got left - Intel DX79SI , not that crappy, but still gives us some problems X_X - our 220 Card died almost instantly , some Vmod problem I believe.. - the 1st 430 is dead for no apparent reason, had to switch to our other 430 LGA775 Pi 32M stage - Just about everything we do for this stage are last-minute, we can't even get these setup to it's proper clocks - not to mention the efficiency goes down the drain - After a couple of bench session, the REX started to have it's own problems, had to change to our backup board - Maximus II Formula Anyway, we had fun, so it's okay :D We'll submit our last submission in a couple minutes or so See ya guys at the end of the stage ,was an honor to compete with the top guys from all over the world Cheers, -

Aaaaand we're done. Mainboard refused to boot, both VGA refused to display anything X_X , that 13.4k is our best run. We had one with higher GPU score(1600 GPU) but far lower CPU score (throttling maybe?) See ya folks in the next round ;) -

Ahahah we're seriously desperate man, We had to bench on the last day waiting for the damn LN2 to arrive, we only had one 7970 Lightning, and one of our two 680L's refused to start, and we found out later that one of our card only detects 4X PCIE , and causing it to lose 1.2 FPS on GT2. Since we're up against 2x or 3x 7970's , we think it's pretty much losing battle and therefore we called it 'desperate attempt' We got really lucky with that 13.4k run, and right now we're still benching to get some more scores -

Merry Xmas Everyone !! :) Anyone still benching with friends (or family) for Country Cup this Xmas? -
@ Ron : I understand your concern about limiting clock frequencies, all valid points, but then again, when overclocking being 'overly competitive', there will be problems at some point (i.e : people using real-time BCLK /multiplier adjustment and tone it down before benchmark ends). And I guess many user out there have pointed out that enforcing this 'clock-limit' rules is hard. We're talking about a specific wrapper with secure clock reading which cannot be tampered by whatsoever, not to mention this 'wrapper' have to use very little CPU resources and memory footprint so they don't intefere with the benchmark score. It can be done, but only in live competition I think. Speaking of which, I've seen some Live OC Competition in Indonesia that used the 'clock-limit' rule, and it CAN be enforced since all of the judges were closely watching all the contestant - hard to do this in online competition.

IMHO, you can use P55/H55 Platform with a Clarkdale CPU , which is probably will be more powerful than a dual-core multi-locked Ivy Bridge setup -
Interesting indeed. When are you planning to start this Pro OC Cup If I may ask?

Congrats to all winners , really nice scores ! It was fun pushing the APUs wasn't it :p Anyway, I'm quite surprised that the ECS FM1 (the A75F-A) turned out to be an 'okay' board. Aside from the missing memory subtiming setting , a non-working 1866-divider, and lack of OC profile save function in the BIOS , that board is not as bad as I expect it would be ;) See ya in the other APU competition guys -
So what is your plan for the Pro OC makeover bro? I'm interested in hearing that
