The official HWBOT Country Cup 2012 thread.

Merry Xmas Everyone !! :) Anyone still benching with friends (or family) for Country Cup this Xmas? -
@ Ron : I understand your concern about limiting clock frequencies, all valid points, but then again, when overclocking being 'overly competitive', there will be problems at some point (i.e : people using real-time BCLK /multiplier adjustment and tone it down before benchmark ends). And I guess many user out there have pointed out that enforcing this 'clock-limit' rules is hard. We're talking about a specific wrapper with secure clock reading which cannot be tampered by whatsoever, not to mention this 'wrapper' have to use very little CPU resources and memory footprint so they don't intefere with the benchmark score. It can be done, but only in live competition I think. Speaking of which, I've seen some Live OC Competition in Indonesia that used the 'clock-limit' rule, and it CAN be enforced since all of the judges were closely watching all the contestant - hard to do this in online competition.

IMHO, you can use P55/H55 Platform with a Clarkdale CPU , which is probably will be more powerful than a dual-core multi-locked Ivy Bridge setup -
Interesting indeed. When are you planning to start this Pro OC Cup If I may ask?

Congrats to all winners , really nice scores ! It was fun pushing the APUs wasn't it :p Anyway, I'm quite surprised that the ECS FM1 (the A75F-A) turned out to be an 'okay' board. Aside from the missing memory subtiming setting , a non-working 1866-divider, and lack of OC profile save function in the BIOS , that board is not as bad as I expect it would be ;) See ya in the other APU competition guys -
So what is your plan for the Pro OC makeover bro? I'm interested in hearing that

I personally don't have any problem with stage 1-4, but that GT 320 and GT 530 stage is going to hurt (Massman, you really know how to 'torture' us overclockers LOL :D) Btw some questions : 1) For the Low-end nVIDIA stage, must we use the desktop version of GT320 and 530? Or can we use the mobile counterpart? (GT 320M for example). 2) by this statement : How would you differentiate the CPUs? by it's model number(E8200,E8400,E8500,E8600,E8700)? or By it's codename(Wolfdale,Conroe,Kentsfield,Allendale,Conroe-L) ? 3) Phenom II X4 940BE is counted as AM2+ CPU, right? Thanks a lot -

Ok thanks I already updated to version 4.11 of the SystemInfo, it still gives an SystemInfo error (but I only enconter this error on WindowsXP, on Win7 no problem) -

Question Here : Since for the 1st stage (3dmark06 on ECS FM1) doesn't need ORB Link for verification, does that mean I can run the benchmark with SystemInfo disabled (-nosysteminfo)? I'm getting "SystemInfo Error" every time I run with systeminfo, even at default X_X. Thanks, -
Whoa that's great to know :D Btw a Question : Does the "3DMark : Fire Strike" have an option to detect if the tesselation settings have been modified from the driver level during the runs/before we run it? (something like : preventing the 3dmark to actually run if it detected that tesselation level has been changed) Thanks Man

btw, how about Country Cup 2012 bro? Is it going to happen? :D
-
@ T0lsty : If it's possible, can you please show me how did you do the mods? Is pin 4 of the chil 8318 responsible for the feedback? (it says 'vcpu" on the datasheet, not sure if i'm getting the right pin) Thanks,

fixed it for ya brotha :p

Guys, check your e-mails It looked like MSI will provide an external tool to control the GPU's VID. We will definitely be testing it on the site(not on our home), but this is awesome :D
-
Do you install it in the DIMM numbered 1,3,5,7 bro? Sometimes bad contact with the modules also caused no-boot with B7 error.
-
@ Massman : Hey man, how's your testing in MSI HQ? Do you get the VGpu 1.62V Limit too? Any news of a workaround/fix? Thx
-
Yes use the new BIOS + hardmod. I think the VID hardmod only help for booting into OS though, since when I was using stock LN2 BIOS without hardmod I also have this voltage limitation. On Stock LN2 BIOS(1200 boost, 1.225 VID IIRC), I got this +387mV limit on Afterburner, limiting the voltage to exactly 1.62V as well.
-
Ok hardmodded my card, now can boot the 1300 BIOS successfully at 1.4v on HSF. Boot 1500 BIOS still needing LN2 about -10C though. And the max voltage from Afterburner now stuck +212mV (approx 1.62/1.63 V idle voltage), does anybody got the same limitation?
-
Thx ()v, will try your method :D
-
Hi Guys, Just want to ask, do anyone knows what happens to the card when we only remove the PR133 resistor and not connecting it to the C162 Caps? I'm not good with soldering so I might end up destroying the Solder pads with the hardmods X_X Thanks,
-
For the ones who already done the 1.35v mod, are you able to enter OS with 1500 BIOS now? Or still got red screen? Also, is there anyone who get red screen at OS Boot on default Vgpu (1v), even though you're on 1300 BIOS?
-
Thanks for the info man, i'll try to do the mod then

Hi Massman, Is there any way to request a particular tweaking or utility software to be added on the MOA 2012 software list? For example, I would like to request AIDA64(trial is fine) or Maxxmem, to quickly measure our system memory bandwidth. Also, do you happen to know whether our 3960X CPU will be Engineering sample stepping C1 or C2? And will it be pre-binned(at least multiplier)? Thanks man,
