TASOS Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 Hi everybody. I need to fully revive an old Tualatin board. It's an Iwill BD133u (Intel 815). Picked up from scrap , in a bad condition. Repaired some scratches on pcb and insulated with nail-polish. Changed all leaking capacitors and the board is fully working again. Now i need to optimize it's bios. The board has problems operating with tB1 stepping cpu's. (CPUID : 06B4h). It probably doesnt have the cpu microcode for it. The bios chip is a Phoenix D686 , with bios version BDU1026 in it. I need help to implement the cpu microcode into that bios. Looking for the bios tools or a person that can do it. Attached here is the bios of this board. Quote

GENiEBEN Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Try the 2004 version http://1drv.ms/1K3qkST If that doesn't work either, you're out of luck. Quote
TASOS Posted June 21, 2015 Author Posted June 21, 2015 I am out of luck The same bios checksum error. Quote
TASOS Posted June 21, 2015 Author Posted June 21, 2015 I cant accept , that there is not a proper bios tool available , to import microcode to an early phoenix-award bioses. There has to be a solution. I tried 2 versions of the award bios flash tool ... but no go. Quote
GENiEBEN Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 (edited) Well the tool is opensource, so it could be fixed, but who has time? Are there any similar boards from iWill? Edited June 21, 2015 by GENiEBEN Quote
TASOS Posted June 22, 2015 Author Posted June 22, 2015 Iwill VX133u Same socket and cpu support (tualatin) Different chipset though. VIA 694X/694T Quote

trodas Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 Very cool, adding microcode... Congratulations on sucesfull work. Now a little overclock should be in order BTW, makes me wonder, how hard will be to include microcode support for Xeons into MSI X58 Pro-E bios... probably not that much (award bios), once one get a hold of such microcode, for example from bioses where these Xeons (like the 6 cores X5650) are supported...
