Any special settings (drive?) or voltage settings applied? Dunno. But beside they are likely to be 2G per module ones (the mobo don't have problem of running 12G of ram - 3x4G, so it is not like it see just half of them or something...), I have no idea witch ones to pick. Could somebody give me a hand...? (official timings for the 4G Trident DDR3-2400 modules are 10-12-12-31 at 1.65V, witch is pretty far from 6-7-6-18)
July 19, 20159 yr There are many G.Skill kits that can do 877 6-7-6. Pretty much anything that is based on Elpida Hypers and BBSE can reach these numbers. Some PSC and BDBG might be capable too.

When you say "some", then I hear NO But yep, with massive downclock from 1200MHz to 877MHz is usually possible to reach better timings, but I rather stay with the rams that are in the "pretty much any of these" category.
July 19, 20159 yr I have a random kit of Perfect Storm 2000C9, this is BBSE (I checked) and it does 850 6-6-6 or 950 6-7-6 with something around 1.7V on X58. For identifying sticks by S/N check this thread - http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?283666-Figuring-out-G-Skill-s-SNs.

July 19, 20159 yr These are probably Trident 2000C9 BBSE. Some of them are PSC, others - BBSE. You can tell by S/N as odbytorq suggested.
July 20, 20159 yr You can tell by the stock voltage on the 2000 9-9-9 Tridents as well. 1.65 V is BBSE and 1.60 V is PSC. 1600 6-6-6 is also possible on LV Micron chips with about 1.8 to 1.85V.

July 20, 20159 yr I think there might be some BDBG too, but I haven't had too much from them to tell. But rated voltage is not reliable sign. Sometimes SPD voltage is also different, i.e. 1.65, while it says 1.6 on the sticker. And I'm not a RAM expert

July 20, 20159 yr Administrators @Trodas Trident 2gb are eol long time now, you can look at ebay or second hand market, 2000c9 or 1600 6-7-6 triple kits, the first ones you can identify on serialnumber linked earlier here at thread and 1600 6-7-6 are always bbse

July 23, 20159 yr Author So the G.Skill Perfect Storm with Elpida Hyper rams should do the 6-6-6 or 6-7-6 trick? There are seems to be two "tiers" of them, one are red DDR3 2000 (PC3-16000): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231258 And another are black DDR3 2133 (PC3-17066) ones: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231269 To me it looks like that the DDR3 2133 should have way better chances to guarantee (well, pretty much) the good 6-6-6-18 1T timings at 850-900MHz clocks, witch is the only one thing that did not make 6 cores, 12 threads Xeons memory starved I think. So, odbytorq, what kit you have and where can we see 6-6-6 timings in, say, SuperPi 32M or wPrime 1024M bench? (just testing... but I would like to see this pretty much ) Show us some scores, pretty please?

July 23, 20159 yr Administrators In fact the 2000c8 and the 2133 c9 looked the same, no red or black version My 2000c8, the 2133c8 and 2200c8 had Hyper, two of my 2133c9 kits had bbse most likely and on third one I found BBBG. If you want mems that can do 1600 (800) 6-6-6, you will have to opt for Hypers, BBSE usually fail this due to lower trcd limit (will do 6-7-6)while lots of hypers do 1800 6-6-6 if they are decent. Chips can vary at GSkill, I also had Trident 2000c9 kit (late sample from blowout sale of rma stock by gskill most likely) that had below average Hypers, there were also few single sided samples with bcse, but normally these had PSC or BBSE, it is most safe to assume this if you make blind purchase without having chance to check sn Edited July 23, 20159 yr by websmile more info :p

Others might not have these Hyper chips, that are capable of tight timings. Hmmm. I did not like to take chances, so either G.Skill Perfect Storm PC3-16000 or PC3-17600. While the later should be better, because they are rated higher... or I'm wrong there? Are there other products with Elpida Hyper chips, that give same performance and supertight 6-6-6 timings at around 800-850MHz? I take it that I had been decieved with NewEgg then. They show the DDR3 2000 rams with mostly red stickers, but the DDR3 2133 with mostly black ones: However when I look closer now I see, that they showed me also different sides! Now that suxx bad... lol. My mistake It would be cool to hit a decent kit with Hypers, that can do 1800 at 6-6-6 timings, but I probably won't get so lucky. Unless someone retire these sticks and sell me these for my MSI X58 Pro-E mobo and hungry Xeon

I need 1.72V to get Corsair Dominator GT over 833MHz with Hypers at 6-6-6 stable, but this is triple channel and Intel X58, so... different beast
