flanker Posted August 7, 2018 Author Posted August 7, 2018 Report from TMsHW about Manilla AMD day and few results of Cinebenchs! LN2? YES sir! Macci is AMD guy many years. I remember him from Phenom Agena days there, if Im correct. Who is this guy?:) What about Cinebench?! At COmputex Intel demostrated huge chip with 28-core, sample of future Cascade Lake-X. The board was bigger than eATX with crazy VRM. CPU must be cooled by chiller and power consumption was still over 800W. But nice clean 5 GHz. Threadripper LN2 demo with normal eATX board cooled by LN2 and 5.1 GHz run. -there are some scores completed by Tomshardware, CB WR is here All article: https://www.tomshardware.com/news/amd-threadripper_2-vs-intel-core_x,37550.html 1 Quote

Crew Strunkenbold Posted August 13, 2018 Crew Posted August 13, 2018 Can those monsters boot Windows 7? Quote
Crew Leeghoofd Posted August 13, 2018 Crew Posted August 13, 2018 (edited) apparently yes, however we need to get some hard facts about this new platform asap ... wrapper requirerement? RTC timer in screenshot ? Edited August 13, 2018 by Leeghoofd Quote
speed.fastest Posted August 14, 2018 Posted August 14, 2018 X399 even older bios can do Win7, only need some adjustment in bios with a week or more trial. Quote
chispy Posted August 14, 2018 Posted August 14, 2018 Monster cpus , AMD day today ... Great scores guys ! Quote

RTC timer in screenshot ? I cant imagine it will be much different from other AMD platforms... RTC timer, see discussion in the other thread. IMO not very bulletproof, easily cheatable, yet another requirement for a valid screenshot and the question how long should the timer run and what we accept as tolerance. --> in other words way too complicated for what a small moderation team can handle and not safe either. As those monster can run on Win7 too, all Win10 results need to get moderated. But well the chaos is already there. I really give up on this. Quote

flanker Posted August 14, 2018 Author Posted August 14, 2018 RTC timer could be fine. I think, Benchbros use it for proof. btw, next new one WR http://hwbot.org/submission/3916636_sampson_cinebench___r15_ryzen_threadripper_2990wx_8532_cb Quote

Not sure if this will help thing along, but will doing a video verification work? (at least showing that no BCLK change is made in the OS or by a button while the benchmark is running) Quote
Crew Leeghoofd Posted August 14, 2018 Crew Posted August 14, 2018 Think we reached a point Timothy's overlay thing could help a lot, but video will be a big hassle for you guys as the moderation team... Quote
flanker Posted August 14, 2018 Author Posted August 14, 2018 yes, my shaking hands, one hand with camera, second with LN2 and brain focused to "finish the render, finish the render, no BSOD!" 1 Quote
