Gautam Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 I'm more than a little concerned at the prospect of people reusing their pretested cards at the live contest. It appears that there won't be any measures taken to prevent this from happening. And if that's the case, it'll hardly be a contest at all, with plenty of contestants having 1600+ Lightnings in hand already. Quote
Massman Posted August 29, 2011 Author Posted August 29, 2011 I heard there would be security checks? Quote
Hondacity Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 yeah i only have a 1520-1540ish gpu. all the 1600mhz creeps have a bigger chance of half winning. Quote
Perica_barii Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 What does it mean, that we can use our gpu on contest? Home pretested .... Quote
Mean Machine Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 What does it mean, that we can use our gpu on contest? Home pretested .... Â I think the problem lies in the ability to check if someone actually brings the "wrong" card with them. MSI usually sends out a card in advance. Â Well, easily solved, just send one for pretesting that has to be returned, two new ones once you're there. Quote

pastelidis Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 MSI Netherlands Office said that will cover the expenses for 1 person from media of each country which has a team entering the MOA finals. Â See you there Guys! (Malaka:D:D:D:D) Quote
Crew Leeghoofd Posted August 30, 2011 Crew Posted August 30, 2011 oh my god warn all the Taiwanese, Malakas Chris inbound !! Â Have fun lads... Quote
Massman Posted August 30, 2011 Author Posted August 30, 2011 I heard there would be security checks? Â Confirmed. MSI WILL check the hardware for this competition. Quote
Mean Machine Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Confirmed. MSI WILL check the hardware for this competition. Â ...And how does that happen? I mean, removing the S/N sticker isn't too hard. Spotting ME4ME's own card isn't hard either, just see if the IHS is removed. Quote
Massman Posted August 30, 2011 Author Posted August 30, 2011 I don't know how exactly. I only know there will be multiple checkpoints. Â I don't think it will be based on the S/N sticker, lol. That would be too easy. Quote
Mean Machine Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 It'll be interesting to see, for sure. Quote
Massman Posted August 30, 2011 Author Posted August 30, 2011 Great documentary material for sure! Quote
Mean Machine Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Haha, not too sure about how interested the average guy will be in that. It's like "hey, here's 20 minutes of video, of which five are about how they check if someone's cheating". Quote

George_o/c Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Guys do you know the benchmarks?  You filthy BIATCH, I wish I could be there as happened in Turkey. Nevermind next time  I'm also interested on the benchmarks that will be used. Any interesting turn of events? Quote
Patch Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Looks like 32m 3Dmark11 3Dmark01 Â Nice choices for a competition, if you ask me. Â Just hope they don't try to have everything benched on win7.... Quote
Mean Machine Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Good thing I didn't qualify. I'd be beaten badly with every other benchmark, with 01 and 32M, I'd be humiliated. Quote
Eeky NoX Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Looks like 32m 3Dmark11 3Dmark01  Nice choices for a competition, if you ask me.  Just hope they don't try to have everything benched on win7 .... OMG !Imagine the mess...but 11 on XP would be a real challenge rofl  Great choice of course Quote
Hondacity Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 3dm11 and 32m are enough for one day  was it 3 benchmarks last year? Quote
matose Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 I'm interested also in how they check the VGA's . Using Extreme Edition Lightning will be better for the sake of fairness because nobody benches that card  P.S: I don't think they will use 3dmark01 because on Win7 with limited tweaks it's absolutely no fun and also MSI lacks a good 01 BIOS for their MB... Quote
Eeky NoX Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 (edited) In that case 32M won't be very impressive, am I wrong ? Or maybe to OS ? some doubts... Â Edit: for sure it will be an affair of tweaking knowledge, my bad Edited August 30, 2011 by Eeky NoX Sorry... Quote
