unityofsaints Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 Ooofff regular Volcano on X99, sounds like a recipe for disaster? Even on 7950X it can struggle a bit in the heavier benches. Quote

Not sure what anyone else did on this board for mounting a pot Quote
Crew Leeghoofd Posted November 15, 2023 Crew Posted November 15, 2023 Very nice score, you found a new socket to thrash Quote

Not sure what anyone else did on this board for mounting a pot The backplate on lga2011/2066 is M4x0.7 threads which is the same as the mounting rods elmor uses. Vince uses 6-32 rods. Did you check if the larger m4 rods will fit in the Trex top? There might be enough clearance, I'm not at home so can't check/measure myself. If you want you can modify the backplate to fit the 6-32 rods, and it will still work with M4 mounting for a waterblock ect. I did this to three mobos without issue. Remove the ILM/backplate. Drill the holes out with a 3.55mm drill, then chase the threads with M4x0.7 tap. Reinstall the ILM/backplate. The 6-32 rods will pass through, and standard m4 mounting posts still work. Just be careful with the m4 stuff as the threads are pretty shallow (weakened). Obviously do at your own risk, I assume no responsibility for any damage 2 Quote
Mikecdm Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 my x99 champion came with a second mounting mechanism that had through holes. The rods for vince's pots fit no problem with that. Quote
d0minat0r Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 (edited) Why is problem? Only put M4 rods in standard socket mounting system and all working. 6-32 can pass but to thight m3 rodns can pass easy but from easiest way is M4 rods. No need backplate because front and back of ILM hold with screw Edited November 15, 2023 by d0minat0r 1 Quote
