Radi Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 hy the core 2 x6800 is authorizes for this level ? thanks Quote
knopflerbruce Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 Says Core 2 family, so yes - duals and quads:) Quote
NoMS Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Is E6XXX Wolfdale (eg. E6500K or E6600 ) fine to use in this competition or only old E6XXX Conroe? Quote
Rasparthe Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Pentium and Celeron duals aren't Core 2. I was assuming it was only dual cores but perhaps quads are included... I don't see any posted yet though. Quote
Mikecdm Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Several of these classes, like the E2xxx, E3xxx, E5xxx no actual Core 2 cpu exist. They are either celeron or pentium dual core, but they are all based on the core 2 architecture and part of the core 2 family. Quote
Massman Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 They are allowed. The competition is for the Core 2 family Quote
Dan Jacques Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 E3000 has only Celerons. E2000 has only Pentium DCs. Pentium E6xxx can participate? Quote
knopflerbruce Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Yeah. They're based on the Core 2 technology at least. Quote
Crew Turrican Posted June 7, 2012 Crew Posted June 7, 2012 hi, I can not download the screensaver... hmm, which screensaver? if you mean the background screenshot, it's here http://hwbot.org/forum/showpost.php?p=177774&postcount=20 Quote
gigioracing Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 hmm, which screensaver? if you mean the background screenshot, it's here http://hwbot.org/forum/showpost.php?p=177774&postcount=20 yes , is there. because the link here don't work http://hwbot.org/competition/team_cup_2012_sc2/stage/616_core_2_2000_series/ thank you Quote
ilusindo Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 It's very not fair if Q6xxx meet E6xxx in UCbench. In SuperPi E6xxx still can compete with Q6xxx . But it's ok, let's hunting Q6600 G0 SLACR . It's mean Q8xxx allowed too for stage Core 2 8000 series... right? Quote
Rasparthe Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 Yes, it does. I do agree with you and don't much understand why this wasn't limited to just dual cores. A Quad makes every other dual core chip irrelevant. The 6000 series has 19 dual cores and 6 quads (3 are Extreme chips) and only the Q6600 is common (Sorry all you Q6400 users out there). So why limit the stage so severely and really make the Q6600 the only chip to use? Quote
knopflerbruce Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 Huh? There are many quads - did someone say the QX chips are not allowed? In reality you need certain cpus to be able to compete in any such competition. E6320 won't do much good here even if you only allow duals, for example. This principle does not change if we allow quads or not. Still, it says Core 2 series, and quads are definately a part of that series. Quote
Rasparthe Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 I don't have a problem with the rules, certain chips will always be better. By having a pool of (in the 6000 series) 19 dual chips to choose from would allow for more people to be competitive. By excluding the majority of the chips (and I don't mean that the 6320 is just a poor choice against a 6850 but that the very best dual on LN2 can't even catch a quad on Air) you are essentially making the rules read: Use only Q6400 - not even list on HWBOT, Q6600, Q6700, QX6700, QX6800, or QX6850. Again I don't have problem with it, I own both, just trying to make a point that by limiting the contest to duals would have provided a wider field of scores and a great deal more interesting scores since all the duals are at least in the same realm of scores. knopflerbruce Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 the problem is i can't find a source for q7700 I like that challenge. Quote
knopflerbruce Posted June 10, 2012 Posted June 10, 2012 There was a seller who had a few a long time ago, so I bought them while they were still available. He had 3 models, q7500, q7600 and q7700. Pretty rare chips. Quote
I.nfraR.ed Posted June 10, 2012 Posted June 10, 2012 I was just writing that Knut bought them all Quote
