PlatoonSgtElias Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 Hi guys, I was wondering how to adjust the LOD on fermi cards, I have the GTX470 but rivatuner dosent support it even if I manually set the driver code in it. Someone mentioned about 197 driver? but what program to use? thx Quote
BenchZowner Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 RivaTuner works fine with all the 1xx.xx drivers ( after you add the GTX470 device ID in RivaTuner.cfg ). nVIDIA changed the LoD key address with the new 2xx.xx drivers, we need to find the address and change the LoD manually ( or simply create a simple program to change it with ). Somebody said nVIDIA listed those in an article regarding the new drivers & AA mode @ nVIDIA's developers zone ( developer.nvidia.com ) but I can't seem to find it Quote

Ive been adding the drivers simply under poweruser to set the forceware version Quote
Kal-EL Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 Go into your program folder files in your C: drive (os drive), look for the rivatuner folder. Right click and edit the .cfg file in notepad. In this instance we are adding the GTX 480: Device ID : 06c0 for 480 add this line: G200 = 06C0-06FF into the [GPU_10DE] section and this line: DEV_06c0 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480" into the [VEN_10DE] section add Quote
Crew Leeghoofd Posted September 12, 2010 Crew Posted September 12, 2010 (edited) Point of View : GTX460 192bit version G104 = 0E22-06FF DEV_0E22 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460" Big thanks to sir PepperAss Edited September 12, 2010 by Leeghoofd Quote
BenchZowner Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 The same method applies. Use Device Manager ( nVIDIA GTX xxx -> Properties -> Details -> Device Instance ID, the number you're looking for is the number XXXX at PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_XXXX ) or Everest Ultimate or SiSoft Sandra to find the Device ID and add it to rivatuner.cfg in the same way Fermi = XXXX-06FF Quote
Mutant_Tractor Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 LOD adjustment is only supported in Direct 3D V9? Quote
BenchZowner Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 LOD adjustment is only supported in Direct 3D V9? Nope, it's DX-independent. Vantage has a forced LoD value if that's what you're trying to figure out Quote
Mutant_Tractor Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 So these new 2xx.xx drivers can indeed support LoD changing? As I read on a website (can't find it just at this moment) that it is DX dependant...? Maybe because tessellation adds a fully dynamic LoD based on what the user is looking at these drivers don't support LoD changes manually? Quote
BenchZowner Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 The 2xx.xx drivers have various changes, including an offset change for the LoD setting. Just like with the GPU & MEM overclock with previous releases, nVIDIA changed its "location". nVIDIA documented the change somewhere, can't find it though Quote
Mutant_Tractor Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 I have been searching the dev site but nothing so far, and release notes I'm pretty sure don't document such "technical" changes Quote
zeneffect Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 i know for a fact that LOD works with fermi on 258.96 drivers as i have done it myself with an asus gtx460. I will release info on how to do it in the coming weeks ;-) Quote
riska Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 just use the nvidiainspector tool it allows you to set lod to +- 3 and it works fine with the 265.90 driver and a gtx580 Quote
K404 Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 I've never been able to get nVidia Inspector to work with my GTX580, no matter which version I try. I'm using the modded BIOS from Shamino..... would that have any effect? Quote
