Solution for cracking paste on delidded cpus.
xxbassplayerxx replied to phil's topic in Extreme overclocking
You have enough cold juice to try it again? A few others have had success for one session but it usually broke down during the next run. -
For a while, E-die was only showing up in some 3466 kits and the 3600+ kits. New info says it may be in all G.Skill Ripjaws V and Trident Z produced in Sept 2015 or later. I think we need more evidence first to confirm that completely. I just bought a 3600 Trident Z kit to be sure, myself.

I don't think the verdict is completely in on that yet. The easiest and best for air cooling would have to be Samsung E-Die. Strong (very binned) MFR can give it a run for its money, especially when cold. AFR is not in retail kits yet but seems to hit the same speeds as Samsung or perhaps a bit better.

Any chance you can host that somewhere and link to it here? While Intel gets their shit together and makes an XTU version that actually works with all of their chips, it would be nice to have this one available

Is it first to hit the target? Or if you hit the target you get top points? -
Bull, you say new AFR? Is there a new revision?

Sounds like someone at Intel needs to actually try this thing before it's released -

Another good (perhaps better?) option would be to put it in the socket and latch it. It seems like it would hold it tighter. -

Sounds like we need a USA OC event... -
Man I love the UP7. That was the board that introduced the 8x multi switch which is why it still has all of the Ivy frequency records. I do remember it struggled with memory for a while though. I also have a few boards that aren't Gigabyte: Rampage Extreme, Crosshair V Formula, Maximus VII Impact, and P55 Classified 200.

I've been on a long quest to get a completely functional X58A-OC since my original died a while back. I had it repaired but it failed a few days later. I tracked down a heavily used one but it's beat up and has contact issues in the socket often resulting in dropping a DIMM. Finally found one like new on eBay last week and sniped it as soon as it was listed. Snapped a few family photos:
