  1. You can see what temps you get for the transistorsin the die, so the cores, all the transistors and the on-die VRM's heat up the whole PCB. These capactiros can be left uncovered, just like they originally are, but it's just an extra measure since you're using a liquid metal which you don't want to end up accidentally shorting the capacitors. Also it is adviseable for people that have no experience with delidding to stay away from this procesudre, because there is a high chance to chop off some of these capacitors if you're not careful enough. I don't have a Haswell myself, but I've delidded a lot of the old AMD chips.
  2. They are just smd capacitors, nothing more. And you would be safer if you cover them with a tape, or even better - liquid tape or something similar. In any means something not electrically conductive and resistent to high temperature.
  3. Impossible. Multiplier of this cpu is locked down to x27. Most of the validations with this cpu are bugged. If the bclk is right, then the real frequency is 3537MHz.
  4. Congrats to the winners! Impressive APU, CherV. Yesterday I tried my second APU that has better IMC together with PSC too, but couldn't get it stable at 1400 7-10-7, 7-11-7, 8-11-8. Almost did a good run. It is dead, but I'm not sorry, it was 7.6GHz max. With a really good IMC it might be possible 1450+ with PSC, but mine stops at 1400 benchable with Samsung. Couldn't even get another APU last week, because they were out of stock everywhere
  5. 15 euro is the maximum for which you don't have to pay and go to the customs. Between 15 and 150 you only pay VAT and duty (no duty for electronics, but this is not ). Above 150 you need to write customs declaration, pay VAT and duty and not sure what else. Declaring it 10-15 euro in the notes when sent most probably won't do the trick, because it would be heavy and they will check what's inside. They won't even understand what is this, so I will have to go there with explanation. Not that it will get much better when I tell them what actually this is
  6. Thanks for the offer, but if it gets stopped in the customs I'll have to pay additional $36-40 and that does not sound too good compared to a completely new unit from Germany. I don't want to cheat and show a lowered value, so I will have to present the actual payment price
  7. Looking for as cheap as possible, but good performing, used universal slim gpu pot. PM me the price if you have one for sale. Shipping to Europe, Bulgaria. Pament via paypal, I'm paying the taxes. Want to avoid importing it from outside EU, so I really prefer offers from EU to skip customs.
  8. Although I'm not competitive at the highest level, I can only agree the format is a little unfair. IMO this is the biggest flaw of MOA. Ofcourse not saying T0lsty is not a great overclocker, sure he is. Congrats for the win!
  9. That cpu temperature can't be right. It would shut down long before reaching these kind of temps.
  10. Seems the same to me and the other one is already deleted
  11. Wiz, it's the IMC of your APU. First APU was max 1290, second one good for around 1400 9-12-11. Board is flawless for me, except that only 1169 multi gets me okayish scores. Try higher VDDP. Hazzan is untouchable for me
  12. Not much, about 30MHz or maybe even less for my apu.
  13. No, all frequencies are at stock. Voltages are set to 1.3/1.2 for cpu/gpu, because the LN2 bios sets them to 1.45/1.4. All unused features, C'n'Q and so on are turned off. RAM is set to XMP, but I've tried lowered frequency without luck. With bapm turned on it's pretty stable and loads windows every time. That's on air cooling. I've also tried 400MHz gpu, ram at 1333, cpu at 3GHz. PS: Guess I need C6 enabled. I had it on disabled.
  14. Agree. By "everybody" I mean 2-3 people, fighting for the top cpuz spot It would be interesting to see the final APU cpuz record and how close to FX it will be.
  15. Nick, thanks for the bios, but I have a problem with Extreme6. My win7 installation was made with 01E. I've flashed 01F, but when I set BAPM to disabled Windows does not load, it freezes on the exact same place just before the Welcome screen. No bsod, board just restarts after 2-3 seconds. With BAPM enabled there's no problem. Do I need to reinstall Windows with BAPM set to disabled?
  16. With my luck, if I bin 50 chips then I can probably come close to this, but this means 50x150 euro = 7500. Really strong cpu. I'm looking forward to the end of the competition when everybody will post their best results. It will be interesting .
  17. So you now know what I have to work with Will get 1 or 2 new this week, just have no other choice.
  18. Don't go above 1.5 - 1.55V on the NB. I'd say 1.55V absolute max if you want your chip to have some chance of staying alive. Don't remember the exact voltage Stilt said is the maximum, but it was somewhere in that range if I'm not mistaken.
  19. APU is a different animal and I have almost no experience with them. However seems more fragile than Bulldozer/Vishera. On the other hand Deneb was like a tank and withstands a heavy torture. So you can't generalize like that
  20. That's my crappy 1321PNY About 7600 max valid, maybe a little more, but no near the 8GHz mark.
  21. I can't go so low on the mems with my "pot", so I'm safe . I know that mem clock can't be compared across platforms, but expect them to run 2600+ on slack timings. Getting the Veloce tonight, so I will check again. Can do 2600 easy. On this platform 1200 7-10-7 was impossible on air, had to set 8-10-8/8-11-8. As you can see from my sub I haven't pushed the cpu hard yet. I was mainly playing with mem and gpu, but had a benching wall at 1290MHz for the memory no matter which divider I was using. Anyway, it was just the first test..I'm more than 1 week behind you guys, due to the bios update failure. Edit: Just tested with 2x8 Geil Veloce 2400C11 and I can load Windows at 2600, but it's unstable just like with PSC, no way I can run 3d. 2570 XMP is fine for full 3dmark run, while 2600 even with a lot slacker timings just barely loads windows. Pretty sure it's the IMC. Edit2: Absolutely the same with Adata 1600G (BFR).
  22. All points are valid with some exceptions for me - I don't have anything different than BBSE/PSC/Hyper. I've used PSC. I have Adata 1600 BFR that are capable of high frequency, but they do not boot at all. Not stable with PSC/BBSE over 2600 at any timings. About 2550 was max on air and I've tried 3 kits good for 2600+ very tight subs (on intel though). Actually I have Geil Evo Veloce 2400 from one of the competitions, but I've borrowed them to a friend for some test. Have to get them back. - Loading OS at full pot was never a problem with my APU/MEM/Board. Also benched several hours with mem at -70, but I started with higher temp and there was no difference. - High CPU is not needed, unless you're fighting for the last 20-30 points Some observations from me: - about 1.74V VDIMM was max for me. Anything higher and it was getting worse, no matter the temperature of the APU/memory. I settled with 1.7V. - IGPU didn't like more than ~1.5V. Maybe that saved me from killing it Unfortunately I don't have another APU to compare, however I have no choice but get another one this week.
  23. No, I don't have problem with bclk. Running in IDE mode with my SSD I've tested up to 130. Lower or higher divider (than 1169) for the IGPU results in lower fps when I try to match e.g. 1400MHz with the 1169 option. However with 1169 option and 3:32 mem divider max benchable is 1415Mhz for the GPU, because max stable mem frequency for this APU is 1290. Although I can load windows at say 1330 it is not benchable - crashes on desktop or reboots when I try to run 3dmark. Nothing helps - voltage, timings... I used ~1.7V (more was not needed) for the RAM, because it is the IMC failing. I gained a little on LN2, but not as much as I hoped. I see top guys run the same multi, so I guess it's a common thing and I need a chip with better IMC. On a side note - the board is rock stable. Bios recovers very well from bad settings and had absolutely no problem during the first sesion. Great job Asrock and Nick! Also as Nick said - get a proper cooling for the pwm. Even after several hours at -190 for the cpu and -70 on the memory, the pwm heatsink was still warm and I had a fan placed over it. BTW, thanks for the bios tip, that saved my @ss. I gues that block at the beginning is just a code for the bios flashing program. Flashed fine with Flashrom on Asus M4A89GTD.
  24. I have problems at 15001430+ GPU even with the tool from Stilt. FPS drops no matter what. Running Catalyst 13.9 on Win 7 x64. PS: I get normal scores only at "1169" multi, but my APU's IMC is bad, so I'm limited to 120 bclk
