  1. Nice, I didnt know that Windows 2K SP4 can work with CPU-z.
  2. I know that it is the most spamming SDRAM thread but I couldn't stop my self... I just bouht quimondas. Not that cheap but 2x512 MB Quimondas Kingstons. It seems like something like 2008 yr. I have a question. Are those mems any good? It's promos or rebranded qimonda? Or what do you think ppl? Gradus ? Here stermy used something like those.
  3. You guys inspired me!! Well it's time to do some tests... And I recorded a very short video to show to some people how fast PIII can boot (under 1 min is nessecary if testing tons of mems)... YT link: Today Im starting to binning my sdrams. I had more of them but all <160 MHz was turned into dust and mixed with acid to put some gold out of them...
  4. It's quite shocking that this is a 512 MB stick. I just realised that 128/256 mems are usually the best, but didn't expected that 512 MB-one will be that good. Maybe try with PIII-S ??
  5. It's the same reason why not all of my NF2 based mobos (eg. Aopen) was able to do >200 MHz FSB. Most of them of course did >230+ but best were Abits, Asus and DFI. Main reason are poor bioses (I think it's also something with electrical paths and manufacturer's care to quality and signal integrity (and many other things maybe)).
  6. Clockgen is something like RTM5?0-2?? (so maybe RTM560-25R ??). You're right I'm wondering if is this EPOX a good mobo compared to TUSL2/CUSL2/ST6...
  7. Nice one for that voltage. Has it "stepless" overclocking option? (for example not only 100/103/105/110/115/120/124/133/140 MHz clock options but possible to set 133/134/135/136... ??)
  8. Hmm, I have not seen that PLL thing or forgoted... or it was my mistake. (I remember now not P3. It was P4 and no VTT voltage or something ) I meant Turbo-PLL here. CLKREF - you mean to reduse jutter or to clear the signal? (I remember one thing about this pin - there is the same pin in slot1 datasheet - that's all I know ) It's a shame that you killed your best cpus They always gone so fast...
  9. Well, maybe it's time for me to buy a few shovels of SDRAMs... and also buy all ST6/TUSL2 from online shops
  10. I have discovered similar things: 1. Default vNB voltage can be raised +0.15..+0.3 V and it is nice. And adding more vNB gives absolutely nothing. 2. VTT mod didn't kill any of my CPUs, but it gave me nothing. Some Tualatins doesnt like rising VTT, but some was working even with Coppermine VTT level and higher without problems. 3. vSB mod was not doing anything. (was VSB mod working to you Terraraptor?) 4. My first "good-for-overclocking" s370 mobo was CUSL2 and I did lots of mods, and those probably degradated it (max ~170-180 FSB)(in my HWB scores). Also: TUSL2 doesnt work with "Mendocino" CPUs and putting those to TUSL2 will drastically rise a temperature of VTT transistor due to uncompability (and it can probably burn mobo in a few seconds). It's interesting, because I thought that CUSL2 (which can work with 250 um CPUs) is practically the same mobo as TUSL2. I have 2 pieces of TUSL2 and I havent see any difference between those (except one is modded, second is "vanilla"). and a few Abits are waiting for their turn. You also wrote about PLL mod? Do you mean rising voltage of ICS clock chip? As far as I know there's no vPLL voltage documented in any Intel Coppermine/Tualatin/s370 datasheet or "whitepaper". I was thinking about do my own Turbo-PLL mod. I really wanted to do this, but this "project" appeared to me as hard and maybe not worth. I wanted to do this on DDR1-s370 motherboard. This doesn't mean that I will never do this "mod". I haven't done proper research yet and I do not know about difficulties and obstacles on the way to do a proper-low jitter-rock stable-low ppm drift(-and so...) clock source. I also want to do this mod, but if it was very flexible (will work with s370 and socket P also). The key is probably in choice of the best chip. So if you want to share any info about PLL mod, please PM me, this would be interesting project.
  11. I was so shocked that I didn't see you was talking about AMD's socket A cpus I remember my Duron Applebred -> Athlon attempts. I have quiet not bad experience with modding socket A cpus. I did "L5 sempron mod guide" (in PL language)(I can translate if are there interested ppl)(it doesnt work on NForce (NF1 and NF2) chipsets). ES Intel CPUs are extreme rare. I was trying to buy one... many many times but nobody has one or people didnt know about "ES" or "unlocked" P3/celerons. @Gradus - so quimonda are the best SDRAMs? I binned ~200-300 pieces but it was too few to make me see any dependences between models or manufacturers. I did discovered one - the ones with Printed carbon resistors - are the best (BUT it turned out that SDRAMS without these are also good and I had some of them even better). I also know that probably lot of ppl tried to find a good s370 mobo with DDR1 and I have one (ECS brand P6S5A or something?). Sadly Clockgen is the steppy-one (big steps, ending at 150 or 166 MHz). Anyone compared performance between DDR1 and SDRAM s370 mobos?
  12. What do you mean? Are there normal CPUs that can be unlocked? For example bigger cache or unlocked multiplier? BTW I have also a big collection of s370 CPUs. I will never find time to bench those I also want to point that my earlier expiriences with selecting the best ones on air cooling is hopeless. My conclusions after few hours testing was: Exacly the same of 4-5 pieces of the same CPU model??? (for example P3 733 MHz are pretty much the same on air, but on SS cooling differences between pieces was bigger).
  13. I tried every option, ACPI also but CPUZ is no saving valid file. Ehh maybe new windows will help
  14. The most funny thing is that I have two AMD K6-2 500. I was testing zombie mod + gigabyte Ga-5AX and... I had to choose a processor to the first try. Sadly I forgot that this platform has 2 voltages or something and I connected "zombie-leads" to wrong legs of wrong caps caps. One of CPUs burned*. The score is done on the survivor It's a bit of luck I think. Gigabyte GA-5AX has problems with CPU-z validations. CPUZ.ini settings not giving much. Older versions working fine. Could anyone tell me what to do if I want to use GA-5AX mobo? Soltek (via chipset) validates fine. *lots of ampers, no smoke, but... just this smell... you will never forget
  15. My mobo can do 3.5 V with all jumpers in the same time for example: |::: is 2.8 V |: is 2.9 V || is 3.1 V |||| is 3.5 V
  16. Yes your motherboard should be good. Yours has 512 kB cache (SL56G1 has 1 MB and SL56G2 has 2 MB). I had to turn off both caches to be able to reach this speed. No vcore mod. No english on that forum, sorry.
  17. I don't remember structure of win98 OS, but in NT Window's there is a performance trick - pagefile. HDD is slow. Ram is fast. You know what to do...
  18. I did some research and theres no 1x multiplier on P54, P55 and some other platforms. Sorry, but this score is bugged. Maybe you could show us the jumpers on this motherboard or something.
  19. Haha, nice What software is able to change multiplier on this platform? Is this something like CRYSTAL CPUID?
