  1. Does it hang when starting the bench? During Country Cup, we could work around that by moving the PCMark7 around until the benchmark started. Like 'click' on window and move mouse.
  2. That was the whole point of the league ... to keep vendors out and give people who buy their own gear a place to compete . If we tell people "this is the league to watch", then anyone who could benefit from exposure in the league (ie: vendor) will try to get his product with the top user. So, if you promote the crap out of the Overclockers League, the vendors will start interfering again. That's the crux of it all: a lot of people wanted a league that was just about overclocking and not about marketing anymore. So, that's what we try to create. Isn't that a good thing? Probably in contrary to what you think of me, that's what I've been doing for a long time. And not just politely asked, but actually tried giving them solutions for the situation. But, of course I'm not the one that makes any of the decisions. I know K|ngp|n regrets posting the Evga P67 3DMark01 BIOS in public as a few days later Asus came with a bios themselves pretending they figured out the big mystery. I don't understand why you have a double standard here. BIOSes should be shared unless the overclocker coded it himself. So, modifications should be shared too, unless the overclocker found them himself? In that logic, everyone has to figure out everything himself and no one is expected to share anything.
  3. So, the winners: - Poland: Xtreme Addict (#1 contributor), Yotomeczek (Lucky Draw #1), G.Foyle (Lucky Draw #2) - Greece: Aristidis (#1 contributor), Mortisboy (Lucky Draw #1) - Indonesia: Lucky_n00b (#1 contributor) Backups for lucky draw: Lisqu (Poland) and Zafiropo (Greece). Lucky draw was done as follows: - extract list of participants per country - go to random.org/lists - randomise - first (and second) on the list are the lucky winners. I'll send a PM to everyone for info!
  4. I think it's about +700pts after HD 7970 release. Giving the amount of scores we submitted (Gamer, Pt1t, myself) the increase is pretty small, I think.
  5. Oh, so easy then: 1) New-gen ES That's all. The question was probably to define the difference between ES and 'retail' since some products are never really retail. But we know how that discussion works.
  6. Well, in most cases the name of the overclocker is actually mentioned and the news links back to the HWBOT source. So, if you want name recognition, I think how it works today is okay already. Example: PHIL from Greece breaks single card Unigine world record with the new HD 7970 GPU Example: Team Russia Smokes Unigen World Record with a Rampage IV Extreme Example: N580GTX Lightning Achieves Unprecedented Core Frequency of 1665MHz, Breaks Single-card, Single-core World Record; N560GTX-Ti Hawk Breaks Single-card World Record for GTX 560 Ti with Highest Core Frequency of 1500MHz I don't think any of the vendors explicitly asked for approval to write news about these achievements, though.
  7. Quick check if you guys would want this or not. Currently, there's no privacy agreement between HWBOT and its partners. That means that all partners (as well as non-partners of course) can use any score posted at this site and show it off to the public. Personally, I don't mind this; I think it's rather cool that a vendor would regard any of my scores to be newsworthy enough to be shared with their audience. However, I can imagine some people don't like this. For those people, would it be a solution if we added an option to your HWBOT profile that indicates you do not want your results to be quoted by any vendor, in which case no HWBOT partner would use the result in PR/marketing. Few notes: - For vendor competitions, this can't count (they have to be able to announce who won) - We could expand this concept by having a request-system in place where the vendor would ask your permission to quote your score (check before usage) - Of course, this would only apply to HWBOT partners. We simply have no say over the behavior of non-HWBOT partners. Good idea, bad idea? Worth investing, not worth investing? Let me know!
  8. A couple of things: 1) Marketing would've gotten involved sooner or later. They see value in promoting their product with information from this site; without a very good legal team there's no way to stop this. Besides, why wouldn't you allow vendors to show off your achievements to the rest of the world? For most overclocking is just a hobby, so I reckon it's rather cool that a vendor picks up on your achievement and wants to brag with it? Unless you're in this for the money, in which case I'd recommend suing each vendor that uses any of your scores. 2) The Pro OC League was created as per request of the community, not by HWBOT. Link to one of the discussion threads: http://hwbot.org/forum/showthread.php?t=8007. 3) The reason we decided to put the more (obvious) stress on the Pro OC League is exactly what you claim is bad: to get vendors and marketing out of the regular league. What do you think would happen to the Overclockers League if that was the one we put the most stress on? Vendors would figure out that's the league everyone is watching and start figuring out how to get the top guys to use their products and show them off. At least now, there's much less incentive for marketing teams to start actively working the Overclockers League. So, this is supposed to be a good thing. 4) Regarding Afterburner: yes, I don't publish it at HWBOT. I have a personal agreement with MSI, though, it's not part of the HWBOT contract. I'm sorry that I can't force everything to be shared (even though I would want it). Guess I'm just human after all. 5) Interesting you should mention that the pros should leak everything. I've explained the irony of this request in this thread before, but finding modifications and testing them is part of the whole overclocking game. It's part of what a lot of you like to call skill. When all the modifications are shared, people start saying there's no skill in overclocking anymore, but when no modifications are shared, people complain how this world is so unfair and that there are no equal chances. Well, perhaps even more ironic is that a part of the people who first complain about the lack of information regarding the mods, when figuring it out on their own, also won't share the information . I wonder how long Shamino and Andre will be able to hold of sharing the information on the 10 hardmods that are apparently requires to run the HD7970 cards. Remember GTX295? It took a LONG time before any of the 'priviledged' (ie: Kingpin, Andre, SF3D, ...) shared information on how to prepare the card. Remember GTX480? There were only a couple of people who had the coldslow bios and it took Hipro5 get angry and share before the others could bench themselves. Years before that, however, Hipro5 also didn't detail how he had modified the Radeon X2900XTX to run over 1300MHz GPU. There are plenty more examples that show that even the great legends don't always share everything. It's been happening long before HWBOT got leagues and it won't stop if we quit the leagues. Just a part of the world we bench in.
  9. Because you can't compare reference clocks with each other. A global ranking is meaningless.

  11. XPower didn't want to play anymore. I've still got my 6400 990X and a 5800 2600K I can play with this week.
  12. Only 5K left to beat AndreYang!!!!
  13. Sure, I'm just doing some normal benches. In about 3 months, mine with be close to last, I think ...
  14. FM server down, it seems. Argh, can't upload verification links ...
  15. So, Radeon 7970 is making it too easy to set top scores right now. It's a pity the hard work of the GTX580 overclockers is now so easily beaten, but that's the hard life of the overclocking scene I guess. New hardware means new records. 16. We had this issue during the Country Cup too. Have you tried: - installing the chipset drivers - putting the memory in the dram socket nearest to the cpu We had the issue fixed.
  17. Hey all, So, in the past couple of weeks I've been running a lot of multi-gpu configurations here to look into the scaling in different benchmarks. I'm too tired to make a really big text about it, split all the charts into single benchmark scaling charts and pretend I've got 20-pages of content. Instead, here are three long-ass charts. By the way, I'm now running the putting through the 7970s on different platforms to check for scaling. SBE and GT platform are done, two others still to do ... coming soon later this week I hope. Configuration - Core i7 3960X - Rampage IV Extreme - 2x 2GB Gskill RipjawsX - 2x 2GB Gskill Flare - 4x MSI Radeon HD 6970 Lightning - 4x MSI GTX 580 Lightning Extreme - 4x Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 - Cooler Master Silent Pro M1000 - Corsair AX1200 - Thortech Thunderbolt 1200W - Windows 7 SP1 Charts
  18. So, with this thread I just want to explain why I think all the pro oc league participants can just give up and go home right now. After reading this thread, you will realize that you don't have to try anymore, 'cause you already lost. To sum up why you can just give up: I have this: and this: and soon this: as well as this: also this: (can receive secret files) also a little bit of this: Luckily I don't need anything of this anymore: Doesn't matter I act this all the time 'Cause I'm benching in this place Give up now, I just win by default ... :celebration: Just need to find this Can someone please share I know some have these people to help But I'm just a regular person Once I know, I'm #1, just because I'm :celebration:
