Oops, wrong background. -
A board without owner in the shop ... hell no! So, I decided to look after this board. Should be interesting to see how the board compares to UD7 and GD65. Test Setup: - i7 3960X ES / i7 3960X / i7 3930K (still need to decide) - Rampage IV Extreme (bios 0604) - 4x 4GB GeIL Evo Corsa - GeForce 8400GS (for now) - 4x MSI R6970 Lightning (later) - Silent Pro M1000 PSU Thanks goes out to Tones for getting me this board. A big fat middle finger goes out to whoever in HQ is sending those idiotic emails to the local offices in the neighbourhood. Picture Quick pic with the cell phone. I'll make a better one later this week ... First boot

Frederik also pointed that out to me today: it doesn't really "solve" sandbagging. It just makes the whole process a little more complicated. Luckily, the monthly OC Challenges are for fun mostly ... we can experiment with this kind of stuff Hm, the engine will always pick your best result. Maybe we can solve this by adding an extention to the HCE to use your 'last' result in the ranking. We'll check for that tomorrow. -
Is there a way....

So, pointing out that: - Romania won last year => champion - Romania, current champion, was 12th => expectations not met is "cheap" journalism? There's a perfectly valid explanation why the expectations are not met. It will be interesting to see how the new line-up pulls through in the next couple of stages. Who knows, maybe they will surprise us over the next couple of weeks! -
Nvm, figured out the issue. Should be solved now.

A couple of nice scores there! I'll figure out how to do a proper Lucky Draw (and video tape it) between the winners of the stages: Christian Ney, Mare87, Attix, FtW and I.M.O.G. I'm hoping AMD will ship out the CPU asap then ... -

Updating Competition Framework
Massman replied to I.M.O.G.'s topic in HWBOT Development: bugs, features and suggestions
Interesting idea! The sandbagging 'problem' is annoying in some way, but the same principle that allows sandbagging to be beneficial also allows people to enter a competition in the last 24h and still win. Sandbagging works because we don't ask people to be active throughout the entire competition period, which itself is quite nice since most of the people competing have jobs and family to take care of (and therefore have to plan overclocking sessions). I'll write a more elaborate comment this afternoon, but you have given me a totally different idea for this month's OC Challenge that should also get rid of sandbagging AND doesn't require any additional coding! -

Yup, I usually keep all the competition stuff to myself. No one knew anything about the OC Challenge since, ehr, ever I think. Same goes for the Country Cups. Even Frederik usually doesn't know (unless he has to implement new code in the HCE). There's a distinct reason why I keep competition details a secret ... and this is exactly why. I don't want those who volunteer here at the bot and put time and effort into keeping this place clean to have to give up on exciting competitions as well. It's bad enough these people are voluntarily getting critic from the community, no need to punish them even more . I do compete once in a while, but only because I'm still addicted to overclocking. I've never been in the position to refuse prizes (sigh), but I wouldn't take any of them anyway. -
Fixed BTW

So you're the 'other overclocker' who's also begging for a bios and CBB mod

Final ranking + Stats - 238 results - 142 overclockers (or should I say 35,000 ... ) - 24 countries - 45 teams - 82 different CPUs - 24 different CPU cores http://hwbot.org/competition/country_cup_2011/stage/288_dual_core_ucbench2011/
