I used Aceton before mounting it and used a big blob. I tried to heath it up a little before I ran it and after that I did what Leeghoofd said. I could run 6GHz CB11.5 at -170C without any issue now. Seems to be better now.
-
I cleaned it with Aceton, used a big blob that covers the die and set it ready for a new run. After that I will try more if needed.

Thanks for the advice. I wasn't planning to combine things. That way I can't name the cause of issues. About lapping, I lapped my first heathsink/cpu more then 10 years ago. I never made any mistakes with it.
-
Do tou mean the black peaces on the pcb? You bench without any of it? I will wait with lapping it for now. I do have everything I need to lap it.
-
Thanks for all the tips. I will try them soon. Edit: I have a bottle of Aceton "replacement" which is 2-Butoxyethanol. Is that enough?
-
I tried a big blob before but I never heated it up before the run. Yesterday I tried a small layer of grease but that obviosly didn't work. I cooled it down to -80 and then heated it up to -40, after that I went down.

Ok, here it is. I was looking for the best sub forum for this. I was wondering what the best way is to apply thermal grease to make sure a crack doesn't happen. I had it twice this weekend with 2 different methods. At -100C or beyond I saw positive temps. Before I say how I do it I am wondering who has a method that works most of the time (besides the new Kingpin thermal paste).

I have had enough bad luck with hardware lately. Let's not challenge it. Edit: Now I think of it, I did have one win. I placed my defective sensor (strange temp issue beyond -140C) as a backup sensor. Both sensors were fine untill -185C. -

It is to late, I was thinking about doing that but... While heating it up I saw a little bit of water near the power switch. So I turned it off. I don't want to take the risk. -

It was a sata issue. I moved sata to a different port, after that it worked. But now I have to stop anyway because now the tim did crack... +18C in XTU. -

With voltage settings on page 1 or any other voltage I can't boot to Windows with -100C where I could with -50C. I am still looking, but does anyone have an idea? Blue screens all over the place. Edit: -50 was with stock voltages -
Mine are from mid 2017, I had no 4266 option. I bought 3600 C15. 4133 was out the would have been about the same from what I expected. Edit: If money was not an issue I would think of buying 4266 now.
-
I bought the highest bin of G.Skill.
-
My first more serious pi 32M test. First run in XP. Waza proof at 5m 55.537s. Still my g.skills, the hofs are still waiting for action. I now officially have 2 4133 kits. Nice
-
The second kit needed a little less voltage to get it to post, so the 3rd try gave a post. Their first boot gave this: The CPU is cooled by my Single Stage. Edit: I did a quick test on 4266MHz. C12 didn't run yet but 4266MHz C13 did... I really am beginning to like the 2nd kit...
-
I've got these kits since last summer and never got them running because of some bad luck. First I will tune it, then I will run my 6700k.
-
I got a series of bad luck last year and this year my Cascade died on me. I think I will hold on to them for a little longer. I will bin them first. Maarten
-
I finally got these running! this is the first try below zero with this kit on my mOCF and they are doing well. The beauty is that I have a matching kit, the 2nd kit has the 2 next serials and seems to operated simular until 4GHz C12 on air. I will test it soon bu I expect it to run fine. Now I have to tighten the timings and test some more voltages. After this I still have the HOF's.

At what voltage did the cpu score it's result for cpuz and pifast? (980x)

Thanks, I will flash it on my 2nd bios and use this. I tested P7.40 today and had no problems booting 4133 c12 on water with 6 different dimms. It was PI4M stable (didn't have more time) with 4 different dimms. -

I see that bios version P7.40 can be downloaded on the Asrock website. Did anyone try it yet? -
Cheap Samsung E die 2133MHz clocks to 4000MHz
Sparks.nl replied to Sparks.nl's topic in Memory Heaven (air/extreme)
Nice, mine didn't like that on the big board. But I will try since it is driving my daily 6700k (golden on air, one of the worst on cold). Edit: my bad about the 6700k. Seems good on ln2 as well. Never fully tested tho... It ran 6.6GHz in a quick test. Oops Edit: E die picture results were gone.
