-> Validated score still wrong? Let us know here
websmile replied to jmke's topic in Submission & member moderation
All these benchmarks are not awarded with points at the moment as said above, this might change in the future Overclocking, overclocking, and much more! Like overclocking. -
#1 sold and payment received, thanks

A lot of this can be done, but some of it was not necessary this time. Core count limit was determined by start date and platforms allowed to 10 this time, on country cup we already have different ending times of stages last years, and we plan to avoid that several big comps end at same time and failed again despite making clear how much this would be needed (cough). The points reward at a defined moment gets harder with number of stages, we tested this already at other competitions with points or prizes and this might cause trouble. If it is easier now to handle technically we could try this again. I see no reason for different backgrounds, and on a competition that runs 3 months and was announced before start time should be no problem to get hardware I think. On a Xeon/Opteron only stage, this could be introduced but people usually forget that the community asked for server hardware excluded from competitions and hwbot did it because of this, so popularity is with the guys who cry the loudest and not majority^^. On a standalone stage which does not mix stuff and uses an older platform, it makes sense nontheless.

Have a single or a few stages for Xeons and titans
websmile replied to Jumper118's topic in HWBOT Competitions
Two points, discussing this is futile because we have done this for years, still this needs clatification. First of all server hardware is allowed for hwbot but usually not for competitions , and this is indeed same as ES - ES and unreleased hardware are not allowed for competitions, maybe this is new to you, but it is part of the general rules. Second point is that we cannot go with ebay prices for hardware or that it now is not fastest anymore etc.We can not allow some parts of server stuff and other not, which is why we do not allow server hardware generally for comps (same new and old ES) to have a unified guideline for all. Mixing desktop and server will complicate hwbot even more at competitions, so I would be OK with an old school or community competition for server hardware only, but nothing mixed -

Good luck at buying 2011-3 xeons 16 cores+ for 1 million bucks, mabye you get a kilogram then -
Yep, cbjaust is right, each overclocker can contribute only with one result per stage

It is always helpful when seller says what is sold and what not...

Alex@ro - Core i7 8700K @ 6840MHz - 2306 cb Cinebench - R15

Booh -
Good brainstorming here - I hope for a result of the five rounds that can be agreed on next days, no need to hurry that much but the goal needs to be achieved and I would definitely prefer this over me having to chose in the end

ROG OC Team Edition 2 - Stage 3... Why the temperature monitor?
websmile replied to WhiteWulfe's topic in HWBOT Competitions
There is no tool that is reliable if it only shows the cores - proper validation is the job of benchers, you can show package with cores which is why hwmonitor is ideal, it is directly at core temps, some guys show core temps and tjmax distance so you can see what is set and that nothing was manipulated and so on. This is especially important because we had already at first round some cpus that did only work with package and even then you had to check twice (Ryzen). Being specific cannot cover all possible cases, and it does not even guarantee screenshots are done correctly^^ - we will always have problems with verification, it can happwen to everyone and at temps it worst case -
ROG OC Team Edition 2 - Stage 3... Why the temperature monitor?
websmile replied to WhiteWulfe's topic in HWBOT Competitions
We accept results without link normally but not without valid screenshot. The link is only mandatory for global top 20 and even then I am not sure it helps, there is no stuff like sysinfo to validate anything on the sub Bolc, if you are only here to complain, I propose you search another site to do so - I am starting to lose patience with you -
Sorry but sale of items you do not have physically to post mandatory picture is not allowed, as well as closed box sales.

ROG OC Team Edition 2 - Stage 3... Why the temperature monitor?
websmile replied to WhiteWulfe's topic in HWBOT Competitions
Maybe you should learn which league allows which cooling - apprentice allows subzero with single stage, dice and chiller which is extreme cooling in limits below LN2 and cascade. -
ROG OC Team Edition 2 - Stage 3... Why the temperature monitor?
websmile replied to WhiteWulfe's topic in HWBOT Competitions
stages which do not allow extreme cooling need temp monitoring -
Native 8 cores and lower only, core disabling is not allowed. This should be reason the submission does not work

OK, after we discussed this again and availability is zero at lots of countries, the decision was reversed. The Vega is not! allowed for this competition and I think Asus did a wise decision to avoid conflict with some people having access and majority not

10C CPUs not allowed in ROG OC Team 2 Stage 5
websmile replied to niobium615's topic in HWBOT Competitions
A new 8 core is 500 euros, that is ok, and you can even compete with old 5960x. So the decision makes sense when you want to limit cost, and with the new flood of core counts available it is best compromize to take 8 -
Try http instead of https - this is sometimes a problem
-
Officially released according to asus, so it is allowed. Availability varies but that is no reason to block Vega Update: Vega ruled out because we cannot guarantee same chances for all at availability

Which setup? <3

Accepted, let´s all go back to the topic and fun.

Let´s face it, it is either cinebench dead or fully rendered image. I liked the old way more as well, it was easier for all including moderators, but we have no choice. It might mean some have to use external monitor, but we cannot change it. If it is considered too much of a fuss we can retire cinebenches (no threat - it is the alternative we have, the only one because Maxon did not offer any fix when Ney contacted them) or we live with the constant annoyance. P.S. I always try to precheck comps, the screenshot I added is of a result I blocked at 17th of august to give bencher the chance to rebench and not end pointless at team cup, but I cannot always check each week and I can´t send you a monitor^^ btw, awesome how he thanked me by now exhumating this and putting my data online
