June 5, 20205 yr Has anyone gotten a WinXP friendly bios for the EVGA X299 Dark? there are no hints on neither the EVGA site nor the xDevs for the same.
June 5, 20205 yr The Barbonet XP images and similar posted in the XP on Z390 topics might work on X299 Dark but likely only with Kaby Lake-X CPUs, I don't think anyone ever got XP working with Skylake-X or Cascade Lake-X.
June 6, 20205 yr Author I am using an XP image that works on the Asmedia 1061 SATA ports on the Z390 so that part i think is done. I have both Kabylake-x and Skylake X CPU. I have tried bios 1.21, 1.07, X03. no solution so far. Will give up on that for now but if anyone eventually find a solution please share ?
June 6, 20205 yr I don't have an EVGA 2066 mobo but I remember that xp works with the R6A and with X299OCF only with bios 1.20 Z390 xp does not work? Edited June 6, 20205 yr by superpatodonaldo
March 23, 20214 yr This explains my issue then, bluescreening on install with an ACPI error. Sucks that the kabyx cpus are only quad core
March 23, 20214 yr Does the X299 Dark even have Kaby-X support? On R6A and OCF for example the XP support is tied to Kaby-X.
March 23, 20214 yr you have to find the good sata connector and put legacy mode in bios if i remember well
