saint19 Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 I may take part in competition just to encourage people to learn more and modify their cards in more ways.Of course I have more capabilities to push vga to it's max than overclockers, but I will not share anything related to internal stuffs, so my scores would not be for prizes, if you meant that. Btw, I even may give away EVGA Untouchable to best performed modification on 8600GT during this contest, if I get impressed So do your best and show us results. Is that means that you won't enter with mods GPU to get the 1st place? Quote
TiN Posted September 6, 2011 Author Posted September 6, 2011 Does the modified card need to work ? Yea, you should post results in this contest with full rule application I would not be impressed with just bunch of wires and chockes soldered on cards here and there Quote
Massman Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Anything less than hooking up a nuclear reactor will considered "below average work" by TiN, I think. Quote
TiN Posted September 6, 2011 Author Posted September 6, 2011 Yea, even nuclear reactor connected to card cannot save massman from fail . That's correct. Quote
TaPaKaH Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 need to study compatible GPU pinouts ... Quote
Dolk Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 I have 2 8600GTS, to bad I can't join this comp I really want an untouchable. Quote

Christian Ney Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Hum, bought a 8600 GT on ebay as not tested. I received it, there is some caps removed, some ceramic stuff around memory chips that went off (How the fuck I dont know) and the PCB is danaged. If i manage to fix this €@&(%¥~{, then lets make a zombie with X1950 Pro's power design. Quote
cyclone Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Btw, I even may give away EVGA Untouchable to best performed modification on 8600GT during this contest, if I get impressed So do your best and show us results. Ehehe, I'm in, not for prizes but for untouchable  p.s. d0minat0r, IMO Fat Tek is senseless for these cards. Slim one is much more than enough. Quote
Dolk Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Well I have a 8600GT on the way, and a Dead Die 6850 as well. Lets see what I can do. Quote

Bobnova Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Well I have a 8600GT on the way, and a Dead Die 6850 as well. Lets see what I can do. More like a No-Die 6850. It's not so much dead as gone. Quote
saint19 Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Whats up Bob? Will you enter in the challenge? Quote
d0minat0r Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Ehehe, I'm in, not for prizes but for untouchable  p.s. d0minat0r, IMO Fat Tek is senseless for these cards. Slim one is much more than enough. looks better wit fat @TiN I probably take a Leadtek 8600GT on this card is RT9259A controller my question is do i have adjust freq trim on RT_dis pin and how i now to which resistance set a trim for freq in the datasheet there is a graph with the values maybe follow this values regards from Pančevo Serbian Pripyat Quote
TiN Posted September 8, 2011 Author Posted September 8, 2011 I don't think that frequency adjustments will pay any role on such GPU. But you can try youself, your idea is correct. Quote
TiN Posted September 10, 2011 Author Posted September 10, 2011 Hi, fellow overclockers! I prepared some guide for those who want to try external power devices In this case - it's ES Untouchable cards, which will be available for sale soon. But all steps apply to any external VRM connected to 8600GT's exactly same way, so I post here. 8600GT is very easy card to try external power, and also benefits from it noticeable. Quote
TaPaKaH Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 what kind of clocks were you hitting ? Quote
Diabolo 80 Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 My notEVGA "can'TTouchable v0.02" ES ATI 3870 VRM with VGPU and OCP mods "can'TTouchable" in action Quote
