charlweed Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Hi, first post! I'm intrigued by the beta BIOISs for Gigabyte's GA-X79-UD7. I'd like to try the F9a version () hurry dual BIOS!) , but I have some questions and I did not find a BIOS FAQ. 1) Where do these BIOISs come from? Friends within Gigabyte? 2) How can we find out what the version is supposed to accomplish, are there change-logs anywhere? 3) Where/how can I provide feedback on a BIOS, and where can I see whats happening to other "testers"? Is this thread the best place? Thanks! Quote

Is this thread the best place? Thanks! Hi, 1) BIOS came from Gigabyte R&D Taiwan. 2) No changelog atm. (F9A probably like F8 with some compatibility enhancements or updated microcode.) 3) Please read this thread (as I posting there many years): http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte/28441-gigabyte-latest-beta-bios.html Thanks. Some of beta BIOSes are still undergoing compatibility testing. GIGABYTE is sharing these BIOSes for testing purposes only and are not meant for general release. If you are not familiar with beta BIOS testing, then please only flash the recommended release BIOSes that are posted on the GIGABYTE website, as only release BIOSes have passed compatibility testing. IanCutress Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Uninstall Eleet and you should gain multi control back via bios. Turbo is fixed by selecting 'High Performance' in power options. Quote

Vladutz20 Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 I can't use my Elpida Hyper SST memory on UD7 with f8 and f9a bios. Is anybody who tested this memory with ud7 x79 mb or in generaly elpida hyper on gigabyte x79 mainboards ? Quote
Crew Leeghoofd Posted January 18, 2012 Crew Posted January 18, 2012 in general you need to pump massive volts (1.85+) to get hypers running at decent speeds aka 2133 and beyond... it's a PSC/Hynix platform Quote
sin0822 Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 if i had hypers i would test for you, i only have hynix i think and tons of crap PSC lol. I actually sold my nice Gskill 2200mhz cas 7, but i thinkt hat was nice PSC right? Quote
nedernakker Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 in general you need to pump massive volts (1.85+) to get hypers running at decent speeds aka 2133 and beyond... it's a PSC/Hynix platform must say that the 4 2GB 1866 c7 hyper modules I have here do 2133 7-8-7-21-80-1T @ 1.75V on Rampage IV Extreme (ok, other board, dut still hypers on x79) Quote
TaPaKaH Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 With the 3960X ES chip I had, using Elpida BBSE and Hypers I needed around 0.15V more to achieve same freq/timings compared to s1155. From what I observe on forums, in most cases the situation is slimiar, however, I've seen some examples (by OPB and Hazzan) when MHz/volt scaling with Elpida was similar to one of 1155. With PSC and Hynix, there are no such issues. sin0822 - yup, 2200C7s are "good" (old) PSC, you shouldn't have sold them if you needed s2011 benching mems Quote
sin0822 Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 well i only had one kit so for LGA2011 wasn't so good. But with Z77 and Ivy oh man I now wish i had kept them knowing what i know now haha. i have new mems coming soon, so I hope they are decent. Thanks for the clarification tho I didn't want to rip off the heatspreader Quote
Massman Posted January 19, 2012 Author Posted January 19, 2012 Meh, hyper. A good PSC kit is better than a decent Hyper kit on LGA2011. Quote
nedernakker Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 off course, but I had them lying around, so why not test them, I'm using PSC now, no way hypers can do 2400 9-11-9-27-1T @ 1.65V Quote
