Hondacity Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 wow 260 don't mind the slow qpi comments....we're here to oc and i see high clocks wish we could have a definite release date.... Quote
Massman Posted May 30, 2010 Author Posted May 30, 2010 Prepping the system now for a bit of GTX480 clocking (got a card as a present for attending the MOA benelux final !). No LN2 right now, maybe on Wednesday. Quote
littleboy Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 very good shot.. my cpu limit bclk is 226Mhz in Xpower... I do not test another mobo about bclk. xpower is good mobo. vcore value in bios. after booting, I confirm vcore. vcore set litte low value. Quote
Massman Posted May 31, 2010 Author Posted May 31, 2010 very good shot.. my cpu limit bclk is 226Mhz in Xpower... I do not test another mobo about bclk. You tried it like this? --- boot into bios--- set all correct multipliers and memory timings I want to use with 230MHz BCLK --- set BCLK to 220MHz --- save bios --- boot into bios --- set BCLK to 230MHz --- soft reboot = I can boot at 230MHz into windows When you crash and board shuts down, you will need to do the same procedure. Massman Posted June 4, 2010 Author Posted June 4, 2010 Received a new bios for the board. Right-click and save. Bios V1.11 Do NOTE that this is a BETA bios. Flashing is on YOUR own risk! Quote
Massman Posted June 5, 2010 Author Posted June 5, 2010 UPDATING FIRMWARE OF OC DASHBOARD In case you have problems with the OC Dashboard not showing the correct values and not applying voltages, here's the way to solve the issue. Step1: connect the OC Dashboard to any given system using the USB connector. I prefer Windows XP as Vista/7 gave me some unclear issues. Normally it shouldn't be a problem, but ... Step2: Install the driver for the newly detected USB hardware. You can download the drivers here. Step3: Open the flash utility and load the new firmware into the application (embedded + open file). The utility and firmware can be found here Step4: Now press 'connect' and then 'start'. The firmware should now be updating. Once done, fill the thermos and start benching. The firmware update is just to make it work with the XPower. You can still use the same Dashboard with the other boards. NOTE: flashing at own risk. Don't think there's any risk involved, but just for the record: I will not cover your hardware damage. Quote
T0lsty Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 what max cpu voltage you can set in bios ? i can only 1.69 but 980 need at least 1.8 Quote
Massman Posted June 20, 2010 Author Posted June 20, 2010 You need to use the OC switches on the bottom of the board to enable more voltage. Quote
Beaux Loy Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Massman.. Where are the switches.. I have the same problem.. 1.69v max sucks theres nothing on the bottom but the blue switches.. Quote
Massman Posted June 21, 2010 Author Posted June 21, 2010 http://hwbot.org/blog/wp-content//26.jpg Bottom of the picture: those are the switches. Vcore/Vioh/Vdimm/VTT (maybe different order, read manual! ). Unlike on previous boards, these switches don't give +0.1V from the start, but if you move them up, you enable the upper voltage options in the bios. Quote
T0lsty Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Thanks a lot Massman )) It's better to read a manual first))) Quote
DEVILEK Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Big bang and one mosfet was burned on my xpower. Nothing special with vcore, or cpu load. Just 1.55v on cpu and 5.1GHz. Military class Quote
Beaux Loy Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Hey Massman.. For some reason my corsair dominator gt memory wont run past 850mhz.. No matter how low or high I set the multiplier.. It shows up as 1066 by default but the other boards rampage lll / ud9 read as 1333mhz and I can go higher.. Whats the deal you think.. vtt does'nt matter.. 1.55v dram voltage doesnt do anything 1.80v and even the vcore up to 1.9v. Memory just wont run past 850mhz.. weird.. Pcie frequency 110 I wonder whats going on? bios? Quote
Massman Posted June 28, 2010 Author Posted June 28, 2010 V1.2 official (http://download1.msi.com/files/downloads/bos_exe/7666v12.zip) I'll check for a new bios today. Pretty sure there are new ones out already ... we played with 1.21 at MOA if I'm not mistaken. Beaux: sounds like SPD/bios problem. Have you tried to flash to an older bios and see if there's anything different? Quote
Beaux Loy Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Thanks so much for the reply! Yeah, it's really weird.. Noticed it when I first installed windows.. froze up at 4ghz lol.. As long as I keep my memory below 850mhz I'm good.. I looked for a bios update on their website but nothing.. Apparently I have the latest one unless the one you posted here is newer.. Maybe I'll just re flash or something.. cheers man and thanks! Quote
Massman Posted June 28, 2010 Author Posted June 28, 2010 What is the full spec of the DRAM? I'll try to get someone to test it in HQ to see if there's some bios issue. Just FYI, here's the V1.21 MOA bios using in ... ehr, MOA EU. Bios V1.21 MOA Quote
matose Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Is there any limitation for MOA (e.g voltage limit, etc) in 1.21 or is an improved 1.2? Quote
Massman Posted June 28, 2010 Author Posted June 28, 2010 My best guess is that it's a bios that has been tested to co-op perfectly with the Kingston memory that was used. Bios options (eg: voltages) are the same. In my experience, the voltage options are good enough for Gulftown. Make sure you use the OC Switches at the bottom of the board to unlock higher voltages (like 1.7V+ vcore) Quote
Beaux Loy Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Thanks Massman, Just confirmed.. Same problem.. Cpu will run pi at around 6200mhz give or take but when I raise the memory beyond 850mhz it just locks up right away.. I guess I'm going to try that bios. thanks for posting!! I'm using the dominator gt 2000mhz memory by corsair. Timings are 8-8-8-24 88 Quote
steponz Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 The bios's on the board are very hokey.. I think you much better ram to compete bodar... I have had lots of issues with 1.21.. better off going older... unless you change memory... Quote
