Cheapaz Chips 2019 Bench Selection

I'm open to either possibility, but they would be more GPU bound with only the graphics scores -
Cheapaz Chips 2019 Planning Thread
yosarianilives replied to yosarianilives's topic in HWBOT Competitions
Okay, looks like we're gonna go with HD 5450. For benches I have a couple ideas for ones that should be gpu bound, mainly newer 3dmark. Although to make sure that the contest is not about cpu OC I think we should do like previous comps and set something like a 5 ghz quad core limit (I'd be open to allowing downcoring but for simplicity probably better to say only native quads). For benches I'm thinking that something like Skydiver, Unigine heaven (should be weak enough to not need xtreme), 3dmark 11 performance, or 3dmark06/05 although definitely comment with suggestions. Also do we want to allow rebadges? On a hardware level HD 5450, 6350, and 7350 are identical. Vote here: -

Cheapaz Chips 2019 Planning Thread
yosarianilives replied to yosarianilives's topic in HWBOT Competitions
Looks like we have a clear trend, I'm gonna let it set for another day just to be sure before we move onto bench selection but looks like the overwhelming majority would like to do HD 5450 so unless there's a surprise upset tonight that's most likely what we'll go with. -

I think the point was that those are all the same exact gpu just with different names -

Another year and hopefully another Cheapaz Chips. Unfortuneatly AMD and Nvidia have been neglecting the low end the past year so we don't have a lot of options. So far it looks like potentially we could do RX 550 or 560, GT 1030 DDR4 edition, revisit GT 1030 (PLZ no), or do something with APUs (there's no good mobos for am4 APUs so still would benefit from mods). I've created a poll, if anyone has any other ideas for potential hardware comment below.

While we're talking about needing comps, is there any plan to organize a cheapaz this year? I know that we don't have a great selection of "new" low end gpus, but there's still a few options.

Not sure on the computational overhead but could we change it to check for what division gets you the most points and automatically do that one? Surely it wouldn't be too hard, just have a function that adds the pts from all div 1, all div 2, all div3, etc for each user then a function to select whichever is the highest. Recalc this at the end of each division to reduce overhead. Don't forget that all competitions count towards your oc-esports ranking, even if nobody really cares about it besides a certain aussie that I know of ?, so you do technically get pts for all divisions.

Sticks don't always scale to 1.95v on ambient, basically all PSC I've binned has preferred 1.85v on ambient to 1.95v
-
Yup this is the big question, ambient 845 beats ln2 am3+ in 32m. For the rest obviously more theadan is win
-
Overall I like the stages, somehow I'm actually interested in stages IV+ which is a change cause usually challengers are boring for me
-
So broadwell is fine then?
-
4980hq will 100% do 4.5 on ambient, it's just Haswell with l4 cache and should be the ideal cpu for that stage assuming the double package doesn't screw mem over too much (it may)

Cautilus' Rev8 Proposal
yosarianilives replied to Cautilus's topic in HWBOT Development: bugs, features and suggestions
Tbh I still think that leagues by cooling are just a bad idea, should just be rookie league and enthusiast league with a possible addition of sponsored for those that feel it wouldn't be fair for them to compete with everyone else. As for the rest it seems pretty sound to me
