  1. Happy birthday! :celebration: One year closer to the old-age pension...
  2. Benchmarks at hwbot are about competition, reliability and scalability regarding overclocking and do not necessarily represent real world/gaming/folding/whatever performance. The reason why I mentioned these programs is, that we are on the way to a new era of how to use graphics cards. Once there`s a solid, uniform programmability given, I would like to see graphics cards benchmarks which don`t focus on the speed of image representation, but the pure speed of calculation. To create decent 3D benchmarks with top-notch technique is very expensive and time consuming. While the origins of the 2D benchmarks used by hwbot are totally different, 3D is dominated by Futuremark. Without critizing Futuremark I think hwbot should try to stay as much independent as possible. Just imagine Futuremark go bankrupt - no new benchmarks, no patches, no driver approval, no Hall of Fame, no validation, just nothing. It would heavily affect hwbot even if hwbot would have done everything right regarding their own obligations. To use the programmability of (up-coming) graphics cards might bring back a certain independence to hwbot and the whole overclocking community, might reduce the importance of superior CPUs as parts of a 3D setup and helps hwbot to stay diversified. The best example at the moment is MaxxPi in my opinion - done by a single, hard-working guy. I`ve never seen anything close to this at the classic 3D section from a private individual. I hope this will change soon.
  3. I wonder why people always try to highlight their favorite company/products and then hwbot should change something to fix the imbalance. Should I complain about 3dfx, Matrox, Cyrix or Via? I guess not, but in case Intel is better for benching nowadays, it doesn`t mean this will never change. It`s the same lame idea about splitting the ranking into AMD and Intel. Do I get a Cyrix CPU ranking then? What about Transmeta, IDT and so on? Splitting is not the right way to go, rather sub-categories which affect the final score (e.g. extra points for the fastest Phenom II and so on) without splitting. So it`s basically not the question which CPU manufacturer is ahead speed-wise, but the problem, that 3D depends on your - let`s say - 2D-unit AND your graphics cards obviously, while for 2D benchmarks you don`t have to care about your graphics card overclocking abilities. So you have some 2D benchmarks, some 2.5D benchmarks and sometimes 3D benchmarks. What happened to "Super Pi for GPUs", which was mentioned @ XS long time ago? Cuda-Z sounds good, too. I think within the next 6-12 months we will see some progress when it comes to raw GPU calculation benchmarks. Fermi will help here for sure, but we need something which is suitable for graphics cards, which fulfill certain key data to be able to run the benchmark (like DX 10 for Vantage) instead of the right manufacturer logo.
  4. Oh, nice chip! Quite accidentally I did my first i5-661 tests @ air today and tested the Trinergy at some weeks ago @ air, too. So it`s good to see what the hardware is capable of under subzero conditions. ...but 03 screen resolution sucks.
  5. Another try 01: http://hwbot.org/result.do?resultId=735565 03: http://hwbot.org/result.do?resultId=735567 05: http://hwbot.org/result.do?resultId=735568 AM3: http://hwbot.org/result.do?resultId=735570 These scores were already reported/moderated, but moved into the wrong categoy back then. Please move the scores into this correct category: http://hwbot.org/hardware/videocard/radeon_x1550_256mb_rv_515_64_bit (My 06 score is already there)
  6. ...because it would match that nice to my nickname. [x] Individual benchmarks for individual Overclockers like Hyper Pi, Mass Pi, knopfler Pi and so on
  7. A great problem IMO is the fact, that hardware circulates in forum marketplaces and as a buyer you can`t judge if the specific hardware was already used for hwbot or not. If you buy stuff from a team mate and he hasn`t already used the hardware for hwbot (e.g. daily PC only) it can still happen, that the first owner (that did sell the stuff to your team mate) used the component for hwbot. I`m not even talking about Ebay/OCbay, because it`s even harder to find out the history of the hardware, you would like to buy.
  8. Oh, it`s my fault. I didn`t notice it`s about the modified Hwbot Country Cup 2009 rules. Sorry!
  9. I`m not sure what you are trying to tell us, but using the HT/SMT-feature of an Atom 230 is fine. The screenshot is okay, too.
  10. No answer or action after months and several friendly reminders, but I still think that the mentioned scores @ the first link have to get moved and it`s not fun at all to steal a validation.
  11. I mentioned this stuff in this thread over four months ago including several reminders and didn`t get a single word as an answer until today. So even if it would be my fault and my whole concern would be so wrong that I should actually feel ashamed, you could atleast teach me so. But this is very disappointing. Edit: And by the way the Pentium 4 505 isn`t Paxville, which is claimed here. Dual-core-Xeon CPUs for socket 604 had Paxville cores, but Pentium 4 505 have Prescott ones.
  12. I think it`s just about the main purpose of the benchtable (air/water vs. Dice/LN2/LHe) and not about the age itself (e.g. established Team Japan style). Maybe it`s just more popular, because the CPUs had often no heatspreader back then and I guess you can break the die with a clamp very quick.
  13. ...plus no subtest details visable. Already deleted by a team captain of PC Games Hardware.
  14. http://www.hwbot.org/forum/showpost.php?p=32830&postcount=486 Nothing happened yet. Some goes for this one, which was mentioned by u22 (thx ) in this thread. I reported it already, too. See, neither I open threads for trivial requests as so much other guys do immediately (and get an answer asap unfortunately...), nor I annoy moderators somewhere else. But this official modest way leads to nothing and I have no idea what else to do.
  15. Hyperhorn

    Xtremesystems

XS forum was very slow the last days, but fortunately not steady offline. Let`s hope they can fix it.
  16. http://www.hwbot.org/forum/showpost.php?p=32830&postcount=486 Persevering I am, young Jedi! I know it`s annoying to move around some unimportant scores, but they are already moderated so there`s nothing I can do to help you.
  17. I`ve heard that Massman is looking out for a 80-CPU-server by order of rb to keep up with the growing hwbot database. Do you think he is going to... do something? j/k of course
  18. IMO Wprime belongs to the server guys as all the other benchmarks belong to the overclockers with access to extreme cooling. New CPUs will arrive (e.g. Gulftown) and the extreme overclockers will decrease their times, too. It`s not that hwbot gets flooded by server farms. If you look at the Top 20 you will see many Skulltrail system, actually more than professional server racks.
  19. *cough* *cough* You know I love the whole Hwbot crew idolatrously.
  20. You didn`t use Super Pi Mod, so this just shows the effect of rounding. Comparison between Mod and Non-Mod-Super-Pi is always questionable IMO.
